Your stories and experiences are absolutely funny, so interesting and so true. Totally get it ! I am a Japanese woman living in the U.S. for 40 years. Every year I visit my home town, always discover or rediscover something similar to yours, notable funny or not so funny stories. As soon as I come back to the U.S. I share them with my Japanese BFFs here.
We all agree that we are Japanese but not quite Japanese any longer, yet not American either, does not matter how long we’ve been living here. 😂

They DID bring Slurpee in Japan back in the day, it just didn’t go well and faded away, but apparently few franchises still have it though.

There are multiple postal services you don't have to fill in any forms for. Everything is done only with an app or website. If you don't use them, well, you definitely need to fill out all the big forms.

Arthur and Austin sounds better and rolls off the tongue more easily than Austin and Arthur. Or you guys could be having a "Double A" (first letter of your names) meeting in Japan weekly. ;) I see that bottle of sake you've been drinking from.

Sooo true, upon the last visit, saw so many brands that are dead in the US, still hanging on in Japan. Dean & Deluca, Tower Records, not sure this really counts but I saw so many Diesel stores (although maybe not fully dead in the US).

I have just a washer, and I have to hang my clothes on a second floor window, where they occasionally get blown onto the street below. I am jealous haha.
