    Another great video. Watching your videos over this last year has become a therapeutic exercise. It isn't hard to become lost in the imagery on the screen. The graceful motion and elegant lines of your models, set against the natural beauty of your flying site, it's all rather mesmerizing.
    Usually the musical accompaniment really adds to the experience. This time, however, it was really rather distracting, almost to the point of being disturbing.
    I think something went awry with the audio.

      Hi there Peter,
      I hope you enjoy the build.
      The colour is just a light dusting of spray paint. I covered it using the unbranded clear covering from Hobbyking. It nice and cheap but actually very good stuff.

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  Před 2 lety

      I just used some old car-body spray cans which I had left over from another project. I gave the balsa a light dusting of colour and it didn’t seem to add much weight.

  • @frankcorsaro2619

    Fantastic plane and video (as usual ) what servos/weight ? pushrods ? use to keep weight down? wing span ?

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  Před 3 lety

      Thank you. It’s only got mini servos in it, and thin plastic ‘snake’ type pushrods. Although the rudder and elevator are fairly large, the flight speeds are always low, so there are never any great loads on the servos and you can get away with something quite small. I cant remember the exact wingspan off the top of my head but I think it’s around 80”

  • @CheshireTomcat68
    @CheshireTomcat68 Před 3 lety

    Does the front decal mean you are considering manufacturing kits? Love the graduated colour change, is that on the wood or the covering? Nice flying too :-)

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  Před 3 lety

      Thank you. The colour is sprayed onto the wood then it’s covered in a semi-transparent film.
      I really don’t have any interest in producing kits. It’s just a fun hobby for me and turning it into a business would take all the fun out of it.

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  Před 3 lety +2

      It’s getting ever more difficult to buy a traditional wooden balsa kit. Everything tends to be ready built foam models nowadays. If you can find something like a Gentle Lady kit, it will make a great first model.

  • @g2rc
    @g2rc Před 3 lety

    Is only the balsa structure frame colored in paint with clear covering or did you mist red, yellow and green paint on the clear covering material also? Thank you.

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  Před 3 lety +1

      It’s only the balsa that is coloured. Then it’s covered in a frosted clear covering.

      @@SlopeRCGliders Great! Thanks. I'm doing a rebuild on an Airtronics Q-TEE 1/2 a electric conversion. The plan is to hollow everything balsa on that structure for a super light super slow flyer. Also going with as minimal wattage power to fly. I love that color scheme on your "lightweight sloper" so much I'd like to do something similar for my Q-TEE.

    • @g2rc
      @g2rc Před 3 lety

      I've asked you in the past about your covering on a recent sloper (small aerobatic green and black) of yours you have graciously answered back. Thank you. Is the frosted clear covering key to get that look or do you think or have tried crystal clear. I'm asking because it seems more difficult these days to find super light weight covering probably since the foam airplane revolution. Not many building with balsa nowadays.

    I think you are using document laminating film, correct? I have a roll and love the light weight, but have not been able paint it with a "dust coat" that looks good...end up with lots of paint weight and wished I'd used regular covering.
    Care to share how you tinted (or painted) the balsa? It looks fantastic!

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi there, I have used document laminating film on some of my models but this one is clear film from Hobbyking. Unlike the laminating film, It stays slightly milky in colour. I gave the balsa a light dusting of colour using some old cans of car body spray. I was careful not to add too much paint or weight.

    Your gliders don't have ailerons! So,how it banks? I mean roll...

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  Před 3 lety +1

      The dihedral on the wings help it turn without any ailerons. When the rudder is applied it causes the glider to side-slip slightly. The oncoming air hits the underside of the outside wing, pushing it up and makes the glider bank into the turn.

    • @azvoolivre
      @azvoolivre Před 3 lety

      @@SlopeRCGlidersThanks! And is there a minimum wings angle to work?

    • @SlopeRCGliders
      @SlopeRCGliders  Před 3 lety +1

      @@azvoolivre the bigger the angle the better it will turn. But you loose some lifting efficiency of the wings. It’s all a compromise.
