    Agree Larry. Don’t care for Hydrostat transmission unless just a lawn mower. All that winning and heat and loss of power, no thanks. Love my shuttle shifts and manual .

    Great video Larry. You explained things very well. I watch alot of firewood videos and Crack up everytime I watch them. Those guys picking logs with the hydrostatic drive with the rpm's topped out and the hydraulics moving at the speed of light seeing the frustration is incredible. I always said they invented the hydrostatic drive for city farmers because they had never used a clutch. Your video was very informative for them 👏

    My NX5010 shuttle will be delivered in 2 hours. I like hydros for teaching, but I’m buying a Shuttle to use on my farm. Shuttle has less to go wrong and more power in the end to use.
    Great Video.

    I have a ~40 year old 23 HP Yanmar, geared obviously. And a basically new orange 26 HP tractor with hydrostat. The old girl with filled rears puts way more power to the ground. I can bush hog and drag the box blade in 2wd where the orange tractor won't even in 4wd. I want to jump to the 50-70 HP range with a cab and be comfortable and have a pound of overkill. I liked the tour of the yard/shop, that was fun!

    Mike, I love my Shuttle Shift LS. Actually, when were looking at the two versions of this XR4140, the hydrostatic vs. the Shuttle Shift, my wife made the choice for the manual. Something about the hydrostatic she didn't like, and it was a great choice to go manual for all the said reasons of power, cost, simplicity, and add in user preference. Hey, if my wife likes it, she'll drive it! We can get more work done if it's usable for whoever is in the seat.

    This video is extremely helpful! I’m in the process of researching and purchasing my first tractor. I like the idea of a manual shuttle shift. I’ve only looked at a hydrostat, but now I may change my mind. What’s the starting horsepower where the shuttle shift is available? Thanks again for another great video Mike!

    Have watched your videos for a while and learned a lot. Was passing Nashville a while back and stopped in. A salesman demo'd the pto on a manual CX2510 and learned it's transmission driven.
    The specs for a CK2610 manual states LIVE pto. Is this a 2-stage clutch where the pto spins when clutch depressed half way and stops when clutch filled depressed?
    Would like the next tractor to be a manual with a 3-point snowblower and need it spinning while stopping/changing direction so snow doesn't fall down the chute and clog it.
    Thank you and truly appreciated your salesman's time. Have a blessed day.

    I'm allergic to wasps - so endorse your advice re looking before you leap. Have a 50hp manual Kioti, - brilliant machine. The main advantage, that you didn't mention, is for when you are using ground engaging implements (eg deep ripper), or doing serious pulling of heavy loads, particularly on hills. Then it feels like nearly twice as much usable "grunt" as a similar sized hydrostatic machine

    Good video and your comparisons for the transmissions that are available. I use a RX 6620 with Shuttle shift. Another way to say what you have explained to you viewers is that the by staying in one range and shifting through the 4 gears that are available has the effect of spliting the range either up or down. I don't care for the hydro stat and the whining sound it makes. And the hydro is more expensive to repair.

  • @moriver1
    @moriver1 Před rokem +1

    I have a DK5510 shuttle and it is a tank! I used a Vermeer Twin rake and a 605G round baler this year in a pinch. Did 100 bales and did it with zero issues. For ground implements its a win over a hydro every time also. Lots of constant RPM use we use it for. If you are doing bucket work its not a tractor for a novice operator or you will be putting a clutch in it. The DK is the smallest tractor we have that we do real work with on the farm and it never fails. Hydro is great for two people...New operators and people doing a ton of bucket work...

  • @henryhamster01
    @henryhamster01 Před 6 měsíci

    thanks for the video, any chance you have a tractor where you can do some front loader work, going into a pile, scooping, backing out with a shuttle? that be great to see what gears you use, when you clutch, does tractor almost stall cause resistance or you clutch b4 then , ....?

  • @pyroman6000
    @pyroman6000 Před 2 lety

    Another good use for a manual is any time you're doing work where you will be travelling at a constant speed for a long time. Which is just about any kind of field work, for you hobby farmers. Just put it in gear, set the throttle and go. You don't have to push the hydrostat pedal the whole time. And since just about every tractor tranny is synchronized within the gear shifts, Speeding up and slowing down are not a big deal- such as when baling in a field with heavy and light areas. Plenty of modern manuals also come with a hi/lo option- for just those occasions. That also doubles the number of gears you have to work with.
    There are manufacturers that do offer a full power shuttle in the 50 hp range. Also, if you jump up a series into a full sized Utility tractor- because you need the extra size and weight, for example- the hydro option vanishes. (lightweight tractor+ hills+ heavy impliment or load = bad case of pucker, lol That load WILL push you around. NOT a good feeling.)

    I've been shopping for my first tractor for awhile and I think I will go with Kioti but I want the DK20 series because you lose to much power with hydro and I will be doing alot of loader work. With the shuttle it's not enough difference to go to hydro.

  • @LMR1975
    @LMR1975 Před 27 dny

    I own a CX2510 with manual transmission. Not too many HST transmissions here in PORTUGAL. I can see how easy it is to work with the loader (which I have, although unlike in the US, it's not a brand combo, so it's from another brand, as it is MUCH cheaper [and even so it's already very expensive]). It takes a little adaptation and much more clutch use but I'll manage.
    I'm just not sure if my transmission is synchonized, as it "scratches" when I switch gears in movement..
