How NOT to Negotiate with Logan Roy | Succession | Max
Vložit
- čas přidán 31. 07. 2024
- The art of negotiation comes naturally to many, but maybe not to Cousin Greg. When Logan tries to get Greg to sign an NDA to protect the family, Greg is a little uncertain. He tries his hardest to bargain and make the NDA work out in his favor, but between his comments on his very strong rum and coke, to asking Logan to name his price, he's not exactly exuding confidence. Lucky for him, Logan gives him time to think... and chug his drink.

Succession | Greg Tries to Negotiate | HBO Max - Zábava
What drink would you have ordered?
Coca-Cola of course
Irish coffee
Scotch
a dirty shirley
Rum and coke sounds pretty good actually
Logan is so lucky to sharing time with such important figure like Greg
I’m not saying Greg is immensely and incomprehensibly important. That’s unsaid.
The art of the deal!
@@iforgot87872 it’s not unsaid if you say it!
Well look where Greg is now versus Logan. Who won?
I was secretly rooting for Greg to become CEO of waystar at the end of season 4.
“Should I chug this? I can chug it..” My god, what a boss move Greg.
can you tell me what it meant, im stupid
@@rogersimons1082 It's sarcasm. But if Greg was more confident he wouldn't even ask if he should, he would have just chug it.
@@jorgee_pena No its the mere fact that he feels like chugging it despite not really wanting it because he probably wouldn't want to waste it. His concern around wasting it probably comes from his family not having access to a lot of wealth growing up.
“What Greg wants, oof, Greg must have…” 😂😂
Love how Brian says “Cocaaa Cola”
Co-Ckaa Co-LaA!
A very Shakespearean Coca Cola
Reminds me of the australian guy getting arrested for enjoying a succulent chinese meal
He says it in such a patronizing way, I thought it was hilarious
Channeling Matt Berry
It's funny and sad how Greg is basically the only one Logan gives real, honest advice to. All the other kids get nuggets of wisdom wrapped up in thick layers of insincerity and manipulation, but for Greg he's just like, "Hey kid, you did good. You held out for a better deal, and now that better deal is here. Put yourself together and figure out what you want, and if it's not something insane, I'll give it to you."
Logan's a better dad to his grand-nephew than he is to his own damn kids.
I feel like Logan goes to the level of the kid in question. He knows his kids are flawed, but he balances barbs with what he thinks the need to hear and do. He knows they are capable to varying degrees, so he gives them no more than he has to.
With Greg, he knows he's a retriever puppy personified. He talks to him with more granularity and kindness because he knows that's what Greg needs.
He probably had a similar approach to his kids when they were younger. He's had so long to figure out they're just hopeless.
@iorekby they all need kindness ,though. They're his kids.
@@ellie-tk4jy That's cute but he's not trying to be a good parent. He's trying to control/manipulate his kids to his own advantage.
@JK756 what's cute? Obviously he isn't trying to be a good parent- the point is, he should be.
"better times? not for all" I love this series
that part made me laugh so fuckung hard 😭😭😭
Nononononononononooo, what Greg wants, phuh, Greg must have
I love that line so much 😂
lol the delivery is just great.
Logan taught greg probably the most important lesson of his life here. If you have leverage, use it, and know exactly what you want and dont compromise.
Big big facts
real.
Valid! Leverage tends to backfire unless applied through a very narrow window of timing.
yeah "what can I get?" is very much not the question to be asking here haha
And Greg used the advice afterwards in Season 4 when he fired people on the zoom, confronted Shiv who kept bothering Tom on election day, and even had an opportunity to talk to Mecken who becomes a president by representing ATN.
“No, no, no, no, what Greg wants pff, Greg must have” hahaha what a power move on Logan’s part.
"You and Kendall have been hanging around a lot, correct?"
"I am."
Love this subtle humor, it's like the office, but with higher stakes.
that is THE MOST PERFECT analysis of Cousin Greg, THANK YOU.
Purely social haha
“I’d have to speak to my lawyer Pugh, who is often unavailable during day time”
there's so much ridiculous stuff that just slips by unnoticed iol
i love the line delivery as he struggles to get out each word as he slowly realizes the absurdity of what he's saying while trying to make it sound normal and professional
He has a bowtie that lights up and spins around lmao
😂
he actually negotiated with Logan just the way it should be. he did great
So be it
if it is to be said
The dude wrangled his way up from puking inside a costume at an amusement park to the elbow of the CEO in a couple of years. He was a great negotiator.
First rule of negotiations is never name your price first.
It's not the smoothest sure, but "What can I get" is a great response to Logan here.
Not really. He's just lucky that Logan has a soft spot for him.
This show is a real masterpiece.
u must be easy to impress.
@@VintageMovieChannel not as easy as your mom
@@rolanddeschain588 then why are you stalking around the clips of such a trash show?
@@allofthatgoodstuff380 lmao
@@VintageMovieChanneli guess all the Emmy’s they just won is fugazzi
Imagine your lawyer not being available during the day 😂
The thing is, even drunk and inexperienced, Greg negotiates better than the kids most of the time. They are weighed down by their ambitions and desperate fight to overcome one another -- but Greg simply wants as much as he can have. Not entirely unlike Logan.
Don't think that when Logan was coming up that he was a ruthless killer all the time, just a smart guy who sucked the right dicks at the right time.
for the kids is personal, for greg is business.
Bro isn't "drunk"
Thats because his kids have infinite wants, ie they want it all, so are essentially impossible to negotiate with. So Logan doesnt bother, he just manipulates them to get the short term outcome he wants. Gregg's wants are far more realistic and achievable so Logan negotiates with him knowing he can achieve a realistic outcome.
He’s not going to be instantly drunk after drinking alcohol, even spirits. Definitely feeling it within 30 mins though.
"Ahhhhhhh....GREEEGGG." He might as well have been Ursula telling Ariel to "Come in...come in my child..."
Live action or original?
Greg is the perfect opportunist. He doesn't know what he wants and also asks what he can have. I love the way he stumbles upward the food chain.
Different times, different times indeed , better times ? No, not for all
if it is to be said
Imo Greg’s funniest moment in the entire show.
@@PathosConsultingGroup so it be
@@PathosConsultingGroupso it be
So it is
This feels like Mr. Bean meeting Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
Lol
Well, half of it is kind of the case. I don't know if you are aware of it, but Brian Cox played Hannibal Lector in Michael Mann's "Manhunter".
@@speedy3702 well I don't know if you're aware but Nicholas plays Mr. Bean in the future. So it was all planned
Not sure if I would go as far as comparing Greg to Hannibal Lecter, but okay.
Yeah, but in what world could Lector play or manipulate Mr Bean?
Strong for a man
Logan easily could've bullied him into signing then and there, but instead he told Greg how this is supposed to work and dismissed him. Pretty interesting, Logan either wants to see Greg learn the dance, or has no interest in making a deal if they don't know the moves already
I think, because Greg is the one who least fears him, Logan has a weird kind of respect for him. Also, getting Greg on his side can be a way of getting back at his brother.
@@cancerino666 "least fears him"? He's shaking like a leaf!
@@Mopark25 Greg is always anxious, but he's bolder than most when it matters.
Greg is not even stable enough to bully, Logan thought it was easier to be frank with him than try to steer this jello into doing anything.
@@Majkels precisely
“Strong for a man” 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
If I ever have a rum and Coke I’m gonna say this 🤣
come on, greg has proven himself way better negotiator than every other sibling. he did get what he wanted from this conversation, right?
Agree, but I think the only issue was coming to this without know what he wants. If he was prepared to that it was faster .
It looked like he got steamrolled like a cartoon character.
I haven't seen S4 year but wasn't Greg in S1 kinda a bum + drug addict like Ken was? He might know the selling tactics from the street(was prolly a dealer). I don't know
@@gatwick127He smoked weed, Ken smoked crack, they’re hardly the same lol
The attack dog, Gregweiler 😆
I always thought the actual content of Greg's dialogue, ie: the words as written in the script, showed him to be more competent than his screen character portrayed. In key moments, he tended to express himself concisely and directly, it's just delivered in the bumbling, awkward, buffoonish way. I think that's why he tended to have occasionally reasonable interactions with Logan and others where they didn't just swat him away or bully him into submission. Shiv tried that in the last season, and she ended up paying for it. I think Logan had a modicum of respect for him because of that, but the gulf in status meant there would never be any actual working relationship. Logan was the General, Greg the foot soldier.
You can't make a Tomellette without breaking some Greg's.
underrated comment
I loved later on when Tom referred to his new "assistents" as Greggies.
After the tone of Logan's greeting, Greg should've run hahaha
I'm addicted to the way he says Greeeeeeg
😂😂😂 he sounds so evil
This kid is gonna be either sacrificed like a pawn or take the whole company
how do you feel about the ending?
@@xwinger15 I liked the ending, though i am sad for the kids seeming to aceive no closure
Tom's rise throught the show (and Greg with him) work as an ending though.
@@helpconflict9851 they do kinda recieve closure in that they dont have to tie themselves to this company that's always brought out the worst in them anymore and can seek real character growth (as much growth as a huge payout and no financial struggle would give anyways)
@@evorm7329
I still kinda HATE the underlying “subtext” (ie: Big Tech is COMING to eat ALL OF OUR LUNCHES) of the ending but thought it was a pretty poetic one, regardless.
@@jaythomas468 I don't think that's the subtext, it was just Big Tech cause the show was about Big Media IMO. It could have been any "new" conniving force that overthrows a current established one due to their tenacity. The Roys served it up to them on a platter basically by the end. They just weren't serious people.
The order of rum and coke, shows exactly where he is; a child trying to play with the big boys, the rum is Greg trying to level up as a man but the coke still shows he is not there yet
its more just that rum and coke is your typical "unrefined" college boy drink, but you are right the whole point was to highlight how out of his league gregg was.
@@benburch wish there were more quality shows like this
0:39 Greg's just got the happiest puppy face hahaha
Those last lines of Greg, powerful, maybe he was him that betrayed the holy trinity brothers 😂
Brian Cox shows off his comedy chops again!
Succession is going to end up with Greg on the throne, I mean as CEO of the company.
@ Not really, but he has a fantastic knack of falling upwards :D
@ Yes he is getting more sure of himself and his place in the family.
it does look like it - i think logan was quite impressed that greg didnt sign immediately and asked for whats in it for him
I think it's coming down to Greg vs. Tom showdown...They are building up their friendship and I think it will eventually come crashing down
I’ve been saying this from the beginning and if it ends up being one of the siblings imma be pissed. Tom or Greg deserve it more than anyone
0:30 funniest moment of the episode😂
I didn’t know Roy family was just like a mafia. They even have soft drinks of choice.
dont disrespect the pizza parlor
@@sensitivewhiteboyWhatever happened there
Borko is leaking
Unlike Shiv, Logan knows how to negotiate with Greg
It's so perfect that Greg didn't even know what he wanted to drink, he just ordered what he thought Logan would aprove the most
rum and coke? the most unrefined mix in the world of alcoholic beverages?
@@boltzenberg6836 he wasn´t thinking about sophistication but rather what "would a manly man drink". the unsophistication of it just adds to the commedy
@@boltzenberg6836 oh god the drink snobs are here
no, it's a little kid drink; that's why he ordered it and that's why it's funny

Why have I never seen the end of this scene? “Better times? Not for all.” Hilarious improv
this show is just so good. loved every bit of it
This is the funniest scene in the whole show for me
This show is so very masterpiece
Bruh the way he wraps his fingers around the glass always gets me for some reason 😂
The acting in this show is just sooooo fkn good
strong wow... 👍 nice and strong 👍 strong one. 👍 strong for a man 👍
If Greg negotiated the GoJo deal, it’d be done by Season 1
*Greg has some leverage*
Logan: what do you want?
Shiv: *threatens him*
Shiv can never be the one who wins
U saw it coming
She did not even attempt to remove any organs from greg neither did she pay someone to do it lol
Unpopular opinion: Logan is exactly what he needs to be within the context that he exists. He has to get people to do things they wouldn’t otherwise do. He does what is necessary.
I think this is the correct way to negotiate with Logan😊
Asking for a rum and coke during a business meeting with the CEO...that's ballsy, I love his style.
i almost spit my food out the first time i watched this when he said "rum and coke". The writing in this show was too good.
This scene right here is exactly why this show is a masterpiece
What Greg wants,Greg must have.
I adore Greg, he's such a dork, but he's the most moral, humane family member... At least initially!
He'll end up being the most corrupt I think
No, why do you have such assumption? He issuing green peace and his grandfather for their money, lol he is the same as them.
Lol I think he is the most morally corrupt. He doesn't care about anyone other than himself, like everybody else, but he is extreme. Literally does not do 1 nice thing in the show lol
@@augustinefaithdefender hey that was a suing in an affectionate kinda way
He’s already turning into Tom Jr
nice and strong, strong one 😭 ohhh my man
This is how it feels to start out working in the corporate world under people who have forgotten more than you will ever know.
I was reccomended this after a Mad Men negotiation clip. The algorythm has a sense of humor I think.
Greg Logan interactions were the best.
But whatever Greg wants, Greg must have.
The way he growls Greeeeg
Logan talks to every single character differently.
Whereas someone like Roman talks to every character the same.
strong for a man
Gregg owned the room
Should I chug this?
Amazing
😭😭😭
Greg really was forced into ingesting a lot of intoxicants on this show wasn't he lol
the coke episode was so funny haha
Strong ! … strong for a man
At least this scene pokes at the strangeness of just having alcohol at hand in your office at all times of the day, oh but apparently just straight or maybe with ice, no mixed drinks its not that vibe 😂
I'm gonna miss this character so much
Logan was a business guru.
What a brilliant tv show
Logan is so lucky to be here with greg and howard shinnhyung kim
strong, nice and strong, strong, strong for a man!
Is Greg's lawyer a vampire 😂? Why is he not available during the day?
Two weeks ago no episodes of the series were released why is the third season over?
There's an alternate ending where Greg gets the company but Jesse Armstrong was afraid of breaking the world
Strong one, strong for a man
00:29 Kendal's mistake is not buying that watch for Greg, because Greg spared some of those papers Ken needed to win the case.

I remember when Kerry used to pour Greg's drinks and as far as I'm concerned it should still be that way
the thumbnail sent me lol
Just. See it to season 2 episode 6. This show is a beautiful train wreck and I can’t stop watching.
I love how he says Coca-cola.
Nice glass of Rum and Coke, haha
Perfect shot of Greg holding the glass with both hands while sporting that idiot grin
Logan understands people, so he understands Greg. Greg is is simple; he has information that he's willing to give if he gets what he wants. thats why Greg thrived and the sibling got destroyed, they just ask for too much without having leverage.
Strong. Strong. Nice and strong one. Strong for a man.
He says come around and ask what you want then he gets utis and forgets everything this mans is just...
"strong one, strong for a man"
He probably needed the 'Sugar Rush' more than the Alcohol!!! Smart move, GREG! Love me some Greg...😀😃😄😁😆😅🤣😂🍫🍸 What also caught my attention: A Lawyer who is often 'not available' during the Daytime😄😆
Asks for rum and coke lmao
Rip Logan king ROY
The next US president opens a coke for Logan and Logan opens it for Greg, this is the real hierarchical order of things.
Been lookin for someone esse making this connection. Do you think it was a callback to this scene?
@@Henry_Mustache yes probably a funny reference for the screenwriters
Can’t believe Greg is the same actor from Sky High
Brian Cox: “Bah da buh buh bahhh”

"Greg I like you but you're not a serious human being"
The most powerful and the least powerful character in the show negotiating. Guaranteed gold.
