Television programmes, like celebrity game shows, stand up comedy, continuously use that word, how can you be surprised or shocked. His was just a reaction to not wanting to do something. Others use that word, because they think they will be funnier if they do. If you have to swear repeatedly as a stand-up, you need to think hard why you're not if you don't.
