on behalf of all of us who are unable to hike anymore - I so appreciate you doing the walking, and filming, and showing us what's out there. Thanks Tristan! 👍😁🌲
You are living how I did in my mid 20's. I miss those days. I relive it thru your videos.
That first arche looks like Africa
You're right, it does! Thanks for watching.
Hey thanks so much, the video looks great it was really cool chatting with you out there!
Thanks Loren. It was great meeting you and being able to enjoy your art. You've got talent! Happy travels.
Amazing remnants of the Genesis flood! So beautiful!
Thanks for watching, Marcia!
Thank you, Tristan. I appreciate that you explore and showcase lesser known areas that one may overlook/miss as the focus of most videos is largely on the more "touristy" sites.
Thanks Tracy!
When you were walking up to the first arch, the left side looked like the profile of an old man. My first thought was Ebanezer Scrooge, probably because I am watching your video while decorating! Very cool place. Thanks for showing us.
I saw that too, very cool.
ya i noticed it to . funny when you wnt to the other side i was looking to see what it looked like but it just maybe looked like a deer skull or something
Me too! Great hike!
I'll have to go back and take a look! Thanks Cynthia.
It looked like a reverse image of Africa to me
This is amazing! 4 hrs from our home base in Denver! You can have Arches and the crowds….give me this place….never knew it existed!
Love the arches. Appreciate the tour. Thank you Dennis also.
Arches NP was my first full-time job and how I kickstarted my NPS career as an Interpretive Park Ranger. Worked near Rattlesnake Arches at Colorado NM in 2014-2015. I miss living in Grand Junction. Such an awesome town.
Thanks for taking us along. You make us feel like we are on a guided tour! This was a fabulous adventure!
Thanks Barbara!
WOW, another fabulous adventure!! Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks for watching!
The first arch hole is a map of South America or Africa on the flip side.
You're right!
Beautiful arches. Love all the different colors in the rocks which are breathtaking. Great job 👏🏻 🙋🏼♀️👍🏻
Thanks Sharon!
I love this video Tristan! Even when I was younger I could not imagine coming back down from one of these arches. Thank you so much for filming & sharing with us. May God bless you & your beautiful wife with many more adventures to share with the world 🙏✌️🌎💞
Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate it 😁
This was really amazing. You always find such beautiful places. Thank you from Texas!
What a great video. So enjoyed the breathtaking scenery. Really appreciate the effort you put into your videos when you show the scale of the rock formations. Love the scarcity of crowds.
Thanks!
We used to call those holes in arches, keyholes. Love this video! So many arches! I envy Loren, his artwork was amazing! He get's to enjoy one point at a time. I will definitely visit his site. Thanks for video!☺
Excellent alternative to Arches! Please continue to provide updates on your Yukon build from suboverland (mine is on order), cost of ownership, unanticipated repairs, etc.
Will do! Thanks.
What an amazing day! Thanks for taking us along with you and Dennis, Tristan. Your entire trip has been fantastic. Enjoy your family time; you’ve earned it!
Thanks Kathleen!
Thanks for showing us these wonderful places and how accessible they really are. We're planning to spend more time in SW Utah in the future and love watching your videos.
Thanks Bob! SW Utah is great. Lots of interesting stuff to see and do there.
Thank you for showcasing this area! I will definitely put this on my Must visit list. Your friend was a great addition the episode! I'd watch the two of you bantering anytime. And what a great gift! I'm sure that shower will benefit you on long trips.
Love the arches and the isolation ❣️
Tristan your so good at your videos. Thanks for entertaining this old grandma
What amazing structures!
The colors are gorgeous 😍. I love the no people! I have been to Arches twice and as you know lots of people. I really enjoyed this ☺️. Thanks 😊.
Looks like so much fun!!
Thank you for taking us on your journey, I got to enjoy it live without risking, since I had two nasty falls and not very good at climbing. Your filing is the best, the angels, perspectives, etc
I was waiting for one of you to say that the arch in the tower was shaped like Africa. At 5:17 it looked like a key hole. I'm only at 11:55-12:05 now & I already know this is my favorite part. There is nothing as amazing as ear ringing quiet in all that vastness. Great place & awesome video.
Quiet is underrated, for sure! And it didn't occur to me at all at the time that it looked like Africa 😄
@@SUVRVing If you would've set the camera on a tripod at the 12:00 min mark for 20 mins staring out at the beauty of silence, no movement or talking I would totally watch that. If you ever take requests that would be mine, I need my fix. Really great video & I plan on rewatching this one.
Very breathtaking to me💕 I imagine how these were formed over the thousands of years
Such a beautiful place. Another place to put on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
What a cool place! Beautiful!
Very Cool location with amazing features. Definitely a bucket list destination.

Hi Andrey (and dad)! Thanks so much for watching the videos! I'm glad you like them 😁
That was really awesome. Thanks for letting me know about this location.
I love , love ,love, your videos. You do excellent drone videos.
We bought a camper van earlier this year and our maiden voyage was out west (mainly in the Utah area), your videos helped prepare us and got us VERY excited about our new adventures! This is a beautiful hike, have to add it to our next trip!
Just subscribed..Great job on your videos. They are concise, comprehensive and literate and very enlightening as to what is do-able and what is not...I've got some catching up to do.
Those were true meaning of the word Awesome !!
Fantastic trip!
I love your adventurous spirit
Thanks!
Thank-you! Went to Arches, Canyonlands, Goblin Valley, Dead Horse SP, Bridal Veil Falls and Watache Forest in October. Loved them all other than how crowded Arches was. We went midweek. When we drove by it in the morning on the weekend- Monday the lines getting in were crazy.
Thanks for taking my on your arches adventure as it brought back memories of doing this hike. Great arches and a rough road. We also climbed up the moki step, when I was younger. Saw your video on Sand Dunes because we were considering a visit. We’re based in Montrose so have explored many of the Colorado and Utah adventures. Just got back from the San Rafael Swell with lots of footage to edit. Thanks for sharing you adventures. 😀👍
Another place to explore. Thanks for scoping these places out.
Thanks for watching!
So this is what I've learned thus far from this video:
Caves can become arches (after a vast amount of time).
Towers can also become arches (after a vast amount of time).
Time. ⏳
I just started following you. Had never heard of this place. Gorgeous! Love your videos!
Thanks Diane!
Got all excited by the idea of discovering a new destination and then learned that it's my own town. McInnis is my favorite local hiking gem; so glad to see it highlighted!
Lol it's a great place, for sure! You're lucky to have it in your backyard.
Great video as always! Beautiful views, happy trails.
Thanks!
Another beautiful video, Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
So much beauty!
Sure is!
I love how you use your friend for recon to see if climbing is doable 😂 Great video once again Tristan. Thank you.
Gotta make the most of it when there are two of you! 😁
Unreal! Wow!... ☺️👍
Marvelous! All the beautiful layers in red rock. You and Dennis seem to have fun together, would be nice to see him in more of your videos. Thank you. Take care.
Yep, it's always fun when we're able to meet up for an adventure. Thanks Linda!
Hope you had a safe and happy holiday. Love the video… Can’t wait to go. Be safe and be well.
Thanks! Yep, we had a great Thanksgiving 👍
This is right in my backyard. There are some fantastic lesser known areas to explore. Hope you had a wonderful time in Colorado.
Yep, it was great!
Very cool hike! BTW, we were alone at arches out at Double O -- coincidentally my favorite spot there :)
Yay!
Another great adventure my friend. Fantastic scenery!
Thanks Dave!
Thanks for sharing. Might just be on the old bucket list if I don't get to kick the bucket first! 71+ ha!
Lol thanks William!
Very interesting,Thank you guys🙏
What an amazing place - I thought the first arch looked like the shape of South America
One shot you took of the tower, I saw a lions head...great video, my hands were sweating...looks like a great hike.
Loved this video!
Thanks!
Thank you so very much for sharing awesome 👍😊
Stunning area!!!
It really was!
Lived here thirty years and love it here😍
It's a great place!
Archsome😍
For sure!
beautiful views of arches thank you
Thanks for watching.
Spectacular!
Thanks!
Just "WOW" !!!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for another nice video. I always enjoy watching you explore new places and explaining them. If you ever get east of the Mississippi, you should check out Red River Gorge State Park Kentucky. There is over 100 arches and I believe, 14 that you can drive to within a half mile hike. It's a beautiful place. Took the kids there 20 some years ago. My favorite was whistler's Arch, it's a small one but it's like standing in front of an air conditioner, The way the warm air rises up and funnels through it like a Venturi.
Wow this trip was beautiful . Thank you for sharing a. New adventure
Thanks for watching, Florence!
All of you videos have epic views. Yes I remember the river camping trip video. One of you took a dip in the water. It was different than what you usually do so I enjoyed it. Have a safe trip home.
Yep, that was me who took the unplanned swim 😄
We love Rattlesnake Arches. We included the hike in 2nd edition of our book The Hiker's Guide to Colorado in 1991 as part of a much longer hike out through Pollock Canyon. I have a funny story about the last arch (#9) from just a few years ago. We are much older and a bit rounder than when we did our first hiking guide in 1984 and in our other trips to Rattlesnake Arches.
Anyway, we hiked the loop that you described, but when we got to the last arch to climb up and out, but we could not make it up that spot where those foot holds have been carved (they were not there then - must be very recent). The more we tried and failed, the more tired we got, until we were totally exhausted. It was the end of the day and there were no other hikers around to help. We sat down to rest and to contemplate going all the way back via the loop, most of it in the dark, when we heard some voices.
A young couple appeared and immediately started scrambling up to the point where we had given up and were sitting. It was Jason , the son of my wife's cousin (so a cousin) and his fiance Kristin. Jason had grown up in Mesa, CO but had moved to Nevada. He just happened to be back visiting and we had not seen him in years. Anyway, Jayson scrambled up the steep spot like it was nothing, then helped us up. We felt pretty old, but appreciative of the help.
What are the chances of meeting someone you know in a wilderness area at the precise moment when you needed their help?
For those, like us, no longer so fond of scrambling, there are a couple of alternatives to the hike described in the video. One is to go in the opposite direction using the butt slide technique to get down through the arch (or in and out the same way as contemplated by the end-of-trail sign). And the other, much shorter and easier hike, is to stay on the top of the plateau and look down on the arches from above. Their are side trails along the rim and an old jeep trail along the ridgetop that is easiest to follow on the return.
I had never heard of this place! Thanks.
The hole in the 1st arch reminded me of South America. I’m in Denver so I’m gonna check this place out next year. Nice!
It's definitely worth the drive!
It did to me too, and then from the other side it looked like Africa.
Awesome video man, loved the scenery, great place to go check out!
It's definitely worth the visit!
Never heard of this place, pretty cool! We love places with little to no crowds.
It's a bit of a bumpy ride to get out there, but you guys could definitely do it in the truck! It's worth the drive.
So cool. Love me some red rocks and arches, hate crowds so definitely this one’s going on the short list. Thanks for sharing!
Yep, sounds like your kind of place! Thanks Nick.
Wow this is incredibly beautiful 🤩🙏🏻
It really was!
Nice video. Thanks for showing us places we can not hike to see. Our walks/hikes are limited to ebike rides/trails now. Our bodies at 61 +71 are a bit worn out. Love your videos.
Thanks Gordon, I appreciate you guys watching and commenting!
Great alternative to Arches! Thanks, Tristan.
Thanks for watching, Amy!
Even though west central Colorado, is my home, ( actually I am closer to Grand Mesa) I still love seeing the beauty here. Thank you Tristan, and Dennis.
You live in a great area!
I never knew this place existed with so many arches.
Very cool shower too💕💕
Wow! I really like this place. I had no idea it existed. Thank you for educating me.
Thanks for watching!
Much appreciate the video! My partner does not enjoy outdoors as I do, and I don’t think I can go there myself, so I think the chance of me going to this place in my lifetime is slim. Hope the place stays less touched so the beauty of the Mother Nature can pass down to generations.
Me too! Thanks for watching.
Wow!!! All those years in Colorado and I never heard of this place. It's definitely on the list now, my RV won't get very far down the road but my dirt bike will get me to the trailhead. Fruita is known more for it's growing mountain biking popularity so it's not surprising that there wasn't many people around.
It's definitely worth making the trek out there! You'll enjoy it, I think. Thanks for watching.
Right I just found out about them too but I found them looking around on Google maps.
I'm now in Quartzsite Arizona, all the way from Charleston SC.
I've studied that area on maps and Google Earth, but never got into it or realized how special it was...Really enjoyed the video, easy to track on Google Earth.
Thanks Mark, it's a great area!
Loved it!
Thanks Gay!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures and videos with us. We are going out in a Tacoma with a gazelle t4 soon. Wife and I are in our 70s.
Sounds fun! Thanks for watching.
Very beautiful time for a cool beer
It was a warm one, for sure!
I never knew that place existed. How cool!
That's what I'm here for! 😁
That place is way better than arches, No people.
Yep
So I found this just looking around on Google maps before this video and put it on my itinerary. There is another way to get to the arches from the NE side but its a 14.5 mile hike! My dad actually lived in that little town of Glade Park.
I've been there a couple times 30 some years ago. We didn't see anyone! Nice place! Very warm in the summer.
Yeah, it must be pretty brutal out there in summer. It was hot in October!
Thanks Tristen
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Tristan. It was nice to meet your friend. It appeared to be a perfect day! 😎
Yep, we had a great time! Thanks for watching.
This is certainly an arch-rival to Arches NP and to have it all to yourself is just amazing. Wonderful adventure, thanks for taking us there. Glad this is less accessible! I was curious about the fascination we seem to have with arches and found this: "The arch can be construed as the vault of the SKY. Various cultures link the arch to victory; Rome and France (L'arc de Triomphe) being two of the most prominent. Passing through an arch is the symbolic act of rebirth, of leaving the old behind and entering the new. They often mark access into holy places."
Interesting! Thanks for sharing.
