In addition to your usual beautiful visual content, I enjoyed your poetic description of feeling so tenuously connected to the earth while perched on that ridge. For both factual/quirky content and articulate delivery, your commentary is among CZcams's best. Your latest upload now is a highlight of my Saturday mornings As always, I'm looking forward to the next adventure.

OK, this is one of your more fascinating and enjoyable videos. I've been to the Crazy Mountains, but never had a clue about the Grasshopper Glacier, once again proof of your superior research. I agree that the drone adds a whole other dimension to the adventure. I'm always impressed by your hiking and climbing skills, "mucho macho" to be sure. Keep doing it as long as you can, age too quickly interferes.

Seeing those grasshoppers was surreal. The Rocky Mountain locust caused so much devastation - the swarms destroyed thousands of acres of farmland in the not too distant past. Laura Ingalls Wilder talks about them in one of her books. As late as the 1870s they were still around and causing destruction, and then they just suddenly went extinct, but there they are in glacier like they just died yesterday. Crazy

Geesshh...this is the 2nd location ( I think) you've explored that I've been too. It was early 80s, possibly mid 80s. I used a disc camera, yeah, that long ago. It best feature was compact and light.
You did an outstanding job bringing it to us. Such beauty Nature gives us.
Mixed emotions...having seen both lakes and valley when so much more glacier was present and no smoke...I guess I should be grateful I got to see it before its all gone. But the contrast is ...crushing. Yet the Beauty still shines through.
A glacier that we could view from our shop in Polson has melted long ago too. I hear the Park doesn't reflect the snow peaks it once did from south end of Flathead Lake. We could see through 40 ft of water to bottom ...
Anyways...thank you. It's important what you bring to us not only now but to the future. Peace.

Another amazing video. It's always a pleasant surprise when you post something. I'm 65, and did some crazy solo hikes and climbs in my 30s, 40s, and 50s, with the trend going from huge/popular stuff, to more remote/unknown stuff of more moderate size. Partly to do my own thing, partly to try to hold the risk level fairly level, maybe increasing a bit due to less in the way of physical reserves, and decreasing a bit due to better communication tech.
I can identify with "2 steps up, slide 1 step back" plus more serious stuff starting the whole area around you sliding. I experienced many variations of that when accidentally off-trail on Mt Shasta at age 35, and in remote Nevada mountains at age 50. My key method of protecting myself was to either ride it down to a big boulder, or to scoot sideways to one. Generally things up to the side of a small cube dorm fridge were at significant risk of moving, while things bigger than a medium-large dorm fridge would generally hold. I'd try to exit the slide to leave myself just uphill of something bigger than that. I learned a lot about using different stances, and especially foot orientation for various purposes. It helped having experience skiing on very icy New England mountains.

The drone footage from the top was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Also, I love your scene set ups of you walking past or away from the camera. It gives us a glimpse of the incredible locations you are in. Loved the little side trip to see the waterfalls. Thank You! Tilicho Lake: by David Whyte
    In this high place
it is as simple as this,
    leave everything you know behind.
    Step towards the cold surface,
say the old pray of rough love
    and open both arms.
Those who come with empty hands
will stare into the lake astonished,
    there, in the cold light
    reflecting pure snow
the true shape of your own face.

Wonderful video, adding more things to my bucket list which i'll probably never get to. So i can watch you conquer them! Beautiful views / camera establishing shots / drone footage. I'm amazed you went all that way with 2-3 cameras and a drone, don't get lost to/from, and get back in time to relax and have dinner. When you were at the top, I thought: Hey, take that different way down (saw in the drone footage) and you did! Always faster coming back, right? Terrific memories made for yourself and your viewers. Thank you!

Even the drive completely around the Crazy Mountains on Hwys191 and Hwy 89 are my favorite anywhere! They look unworldly!

In addition to your camerawork, there are always these interesting history and stories. Most appreciated!

Well, this video verifies why we subscribed to your channel. You have taken us to so many out of the way places. Thank you so much.

Tristan this was amazing. Loved the video, music choice in addition to the smoke added to the mystery. I was biting my nails as you were climbing those loose rocks. The lake was beautiful, the hidden waterfall spectacular, the melting grasshopper glacier was soooo cool. You outdid yourself on this one.

The waterfall was such an OMG moment. Then, before you used the word epic, that's exactly what I was thinking; this video was the most epic video that I have seen you film. I've not been watching for the entirety of your CZcams career but have been for the last couple of years. Again, thank you so much Tristan.

This is a fantastic video of an other earthly place but I have to admit you scaling those loose rocks and then standing on that precipice made my stomach do flips. Your family must cringe with pride when they watch these solo outings you take to truly crazy places!
    Great documentary adventure.
