  • "This is pretty straight forward...you could easily argue Floyd's side; I think you would probably lose the argument right now...this isn't that hard...the fact that Pacquiao is even competitive with Floyd Mayweather, who's one of the greatest pure boxers ever," stated HBO commentator Max Kellerman, who stood firm on his opinion that Manny Pacquiao will be remembered as a better fighter than Floyd Mayweather. I agree with Max.
Pacquiao was even under weight his first fights. Under a hundred pounds. And Floyd is a natural welterweight. With a longer reach and the fight with Manny was still very close. Its even questionable who won. Personally i think they are both great. And i don't really put one above the other. They are both great in different ways. As far as records go. A couple of Manny's loses were robery's. And a couple of Floyds wins are questionable. But you cannot question an 8 division champion. That speaks for itself.

@@michaelredd7453 "Pound for pound" is pretty self explanatory. Floyd beat guys that Pac lost to and Pac beat the guys that Floyd beat and they've both have beaten fighters that the other hasn't fought. Pac fought from 108 lbs to 154 lbs. Granted he didn't touch 154 but caught weight at 148 lbs against Margarito who was 165 lbs which is Super middle already. To say that a guy who is a natural lightweight that fought from Flyweight to Middleweight is not the better P4P fighter is just pure ignorance. Losing to Floyd who was better in their out of prime years doesn't prove as much compared; if they have fought back 2009 which was 5 years before their fight. There's been a lot of guys who went undefeated but lost because they went over 50 fights. Older generation fighters like Marciano didn't need months to prepare for fights. Sugar Robinson fought with weeks notice. Floyd won't be able to pull that off without preparations. Especially after getting caught illegal overdosing of IV's against his fight with Pac.

@@michaelredd7453 Plus the only guy Floyd beat that Pac lost to was Marquez and he only fought him once. Also was 2 weight classes above Marquez's natural weight class. Everyone knew Floyd was gonna dominate that fight. Floyd even had a last minute change of weight limit for their fight that was suppose to be at 144 lbs but he pushed it up to 147 lbs because he didn't want to drop below 147. And that was Marquez's first time moving up from lightweight, not to mention 2 weight classes.

@Justin Hayes There's no disrespect to both boxers honestly. I'm Filipino but I like Floyd's style more in terms of pure technical boxing. What made me comment this way was the fact that Max's standpoint of argument wasn't even in the guy's scope of consideration and just plainly said I disagree. Of course you can argue, but taking away the premise of the argument was, as Max said, a basic disposition of honesty in the knowledge of boxing.

We may not see another phenom (an all time great) like him in our life time. So let’s just respect his achievements and appreciate his effort to entertain us everytime he is in the ring. Now he does not need to box for the money. He is thinking of helping others so part of his winnings is for some poor people in his country. Let me make this simple:
When Manny was fighting all the great Mexican champions like Barrera, Morales, and Marquez, NOBODY was asking him to fight Floyd Mayweather. In fact, if you went back in time 2003-2007 and said Pacquiao should fight Floyd, people will think you're crazy because Floyd was way too big. But fast forward to 2008-2009 when Manny fought De La Hoya and Hatton is when people started thinking about it. In fact, people already thinking De La Hoya was way too big, but Manny still beat him, although it clear that Oscar was past his prime.
Now the only reason Manny fought De La Hoya was because Manny was beating a lot of Mexican boxers....and the only reason why Manny fought Floyd was because he beat De La Hoya. So to sum it up, Manny was never supposed to fight Floyd in the first place, but it happened, and he did a pretty decent job even though he lost. So what Max was trying to say is that Manny fought guys who were bigger than him and can compete at their level...there's no other Flyweight that has ever done what Manny has done. Not even in close....that's what makes Manny Pound for Pound better than Floyd.

Max Kellerman simply is saying that Manny Pacquiao has the Greatest Legacy in Boxing History the world has ever had in a hundred years or more. He is simply the Michael Jordan of Boxing sitting on the top alone and has raised the boxing world standard into an epic and even more legendary level. PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ These UNDENIABLE TRUTHS:

-That would be his 4th Division World Championship Title in 6th Weight Division from Flyweight to Middleweight of the Classic Original 8 Weight Divisions in Boxing History or the so called the "Glamour Division"
-The "Only" 5th Time Lineal Champion in Boxing History meaning he was the only fighter that was UNDISPUTED in 5 weight classes beating the Best of the Best in Every Division.
-2000-2009 "HBO Fighter of the Decade"
-2001-2010 "World Boxing Council Boxer of the Decade" and will still be fighting until next year 2020 and a sure candidate for another Fighter of the Decade for the Second Time. Who else does that?
-3 Time Fighter of The Year by many Boxing Organizations, 2009 Knockout of the Year Awards Etc...
-And now the "Oldest" Welterweight Champion in Boxing History and still aiming for a WW unification before he retires and still fighting at the highest competitions in WW at the age of 40. @Yo bitch blow me like soup Anyone can have their own opinion if you're rooting for someone but we all must rely on solid factual truths base in boxing historical facts which pacquiao clearly wins in any court at any time. Did you even believe Floyd's 50-0 is true the way he brags how he surpassed Rocky Marciano? Look man. Truthfully speaking the MMA non-professional boxer Conor McGregor was not and should not even be a legit boxing match to be put to Floyds boxing record coz it was just an exhibition match between a boxer and an MMA just like Floyd's WWE appearance before. Floyd has too much controversy in dealing with his fight negotiations too bullying his opponents in rules inside his turf Vegas to getting all the special treatments and all the advantages he can get in able to fight him and that's not fair. Where is the greatness in there? SSR, Ali, Louis, Armstrong and Pacquiao was never ever been like that in any way. There are a lots of undefeated fighters in history and Floyd was just simply one of them. Pacquiao on the other hand is clearly way more above that in every aspect coz his almost impossible accomplishments in boxing says it all without him needing to be bragging for all of it.

Pacquiao lost to Marquez, he got put to sleep, Timothy Bradley.. From the past 2 years. Pacquiao should of did the testing to fight Floyd, but he declined it. Floyd will beat pacquiao at pacquiao weight, Floyd has to much boxing skills and knowledge. He will use distance to his advantage.

Agree 100% with Mac on everything he just said. Put in words for a more casual fan, the difference between Flyweight and Welterweight is 35 lbs. So it is Like saying Mayweather is the better P4P fighter over Sergey Kovalev. Kovalev is an Unbeaten fighter, but we would all agree Mayweather has better skills P4P. Yet if they ever fought, Kovalev would walk through Mayweather.

No, manny was acclimated to 147 when they fought. Floyd has fought full weight through 24 pounds of division and was the same size as manny when manny was already pro. Floyd was never a big ww and many has been getting knocked out and outboxed his entire career by men smaller than Floyd and himself even. Speaking of kovalez, he's never moved up as far as I know so you can better compare how Wilder would walk through kovalez even though kovalez is maybe better p4p.

+quenquen411 Your point about Wilder beating Kovalev is exactly my point and Max Kellermans point, we just happen to think that point at which someone is too big for Mayweather, at least, is Golovkin.
Now i agree about the weight of Manny and Floyd but let's be real here, Manny is 5'5 (166) and Floyd is 5'8 (173) A much more fleshed out size to compete at the WW scene. And for me Manny was the better fighter at both guys primes. See floyd makes history in his own head based on a childlike manner which is "i beat this guy, who beat that guy, therefore I am better than all of you" and "an unbeaten fighter is the best fighter". Which is false.

    • @quenquen411
      @quenquen411 Před 8 lety +2

Charlie Walker I'd like to debate with you, but you don't seem to actually know what you're talking about. Floyd doesn't walk around in the 170's. And that wasn't Max's point at all. He was eluding to Manny being too small, when Manny was already fully acclimated to the 147 pound division. It's not a case of a small untested guy fighting at the weight. 147 is where Manny beat Oscar and it's "kinda" where Manny beat Cotto (the fight that really put him on the map). Manny also beat Margarito. So, there is no actual point to be made here, besides that Manny has shorter arms than Floyd and is short. Yeah, but Floyd had longer arms and was taller than Manny when Floyd was fighting at 140, 135 and 130.
Manny was still seen as the bigger stronger puncher at 147 against Floyd, complaining about someone being taller is like saying you're not going to give Tommy Hearns credit for being very tall and long for the division.
Also, Manny Pacquiao has been getting knocked out and outboxed at every point of his career. He got knocked out in the 90's by guys I've never heard of, he got outboxed by Morales, and he arguably lost a few times to Marquez at a few different weights, up to being knocked out by the guy. So, basically, it's like saying that all the guys who have beaten up Manny in his career at smaller divisions are better than FMJ, and that makes no sense.
I don't think Manny was better than Floyd at any point of his career. I don't know when you started watching Floyd.

Actually we agree completely about the weights, I'm not arguing about the weight merely that Manny is not a true welter weight, as Roach said many times, he likes Pac to be 135. And to not be a true Welter Weight and handle his opponents the way he did, better than Mayweather did, is what makes him in my eyes better.

Max really knows boxing! The degree of difficulty of Pacquiao's achievement is close to impossible, but we're sooooo fortunate to have witnessed the unthinkable. Cleaned divisions he stepped into, fighting the best fighters without if or buts or "in my terms" to gain competitive advantage up to this time in his 40s. May never come in our lifetime again or in generations to come, which will make people decide in due time that PAC is the greatest boxer. Pac never claimed it but Mayweather keeps on insisting it?
I think Mayweather will be remembered as the BEST DEFENSIVE BOXER. Cherry picked opponents "in his terms" while ducked boxers in their prime and waited until clear advantage was in the horizon. NEVER AGREED TO FIGHT PAC (Even past his prime already) FOR SECOND BOUT TO REMOVE DOUBTS, HE KNOWS IT"S A DANGEROUS FIGHT FOR HIM, and instead went out of retirement to endanger the lives of people that are soooo out of his league which is very unprofessional and not a character of the greatest boxer.

This is really simple - a P4P comparison is NOT the same as H2H (head-to-head) fight. Let me say that again, P4P is not the same as H2H.
Kellerman's argument is you need to look at the career and achievements accomplishment in that career and he's saying that Pacquiao's achievements have NEVER BE DONE.
Let me break his math down for you all. Pacquaio was the lineal flyweight champion at 112 pounds. He ended up winning a lineal championship at Jr. Middleweight (154 lbs) when he beat Margarito. That's a difference of 42 lbs in weight classes.
That would be like if Mayweather, who was the lineal champ at jr. lightweight (130 lbs), moved up to light heavyweight (175 lbs) and fought Sergey Kovalev or Andre Ward. Even if Mayweather lost, most everyone would say that Mayweather is a better P4P than Kovalev or Ward.
    That's Kellerman's point.
Through his career, Pacquaio won belts in 8 different divisions which has NEVER been done. He was also the lineal champion in 4 different weight classes. NO ONE has every done what Pacquiao did but there have been 5 other boxers who retired with perfect records.
If you can't really appreciate what Pacquiao did and at least admit it's a 50/50 split on it being as great as Mayweather's achievements then just please stop pretending that you're knowledgeable and can make fair assessments.

What eight weight classes did Pacquiao win world titles in? What 12 world titles did he win? Pacquiao won world titles in 6 weight classes and he's won 9 world titles not 12.

with kellerman all that being said., may floyd ducks prime pacquiao just to win by running..? given that pac has all the disadvantages hes still the aggressor., smh
bradley defeated pacquiao ONCE, does that mean bradley is greater than him.? the only difference is that floyd doesn't want a rematch

Bradley and jeff horn fights were robberies. Pacquiao's record is much better than it looks. Hes just the most robbed boxers in history

Lol max has good and very true points. I'm a fan of mayweather but then you have flomo train riders that know very little about boxing, can't handle the truth and don't look at things from a boxing history perspective.
