Makes then too strong and new players felt like they missed out a great character. Look at Festering Desire, many players have been trying to get MiHoYo to bring it back to the game for forever. And that’s a 4* sword. Imagine of Aloy was a meta unit. How many people would cry about missing out, especially new players?
So MiHoYo made her on the weaker side, and people started memeing

@@Aliens1337 There's a benefit to being to the game early, and for staying. Aloy should've been one of those benefits.
I really appreciate you going over the rotations; builds are easy to look up everywhere, but rotations are so important and so rarely covered in guides! I hope you continue to put this kind of advice for how to play teams in future videos.

Well u don't have to Full charge the second arrow to get the AoE damage, in the moment it blinks its the right moment to shoot, its a small difference but it's nice to know u can shoot faster and don't need to wait like 2 seconds to aim

I started playing Genshin this past April and waited nearly 9 months for Ganyu to finally be re-released. This guide was so helpful and also helped me decide whether or not c1 ganyu would be worth it. Thank you so much also for the detailed team comp explanations. The weapon section is also the most useful by far that I have seen on ganyu among the interwebs.

Been saving for her and got her already. Lv1 charged attack hits 5k-6k and that's insane for me.
For additional information, I tested out hamayumi, and to me It seems that hamayumi is > prototype crescent and some of the 5 star bow in terms of consistency. Also the buff that you gain from the bow for not using Elemental Burst is not a big deal, I mean you can still use burst sometimes. It is because the passive talent of Ganyu for gaining 20% cryo dmg bonus by standing within the burst area compensated the loss from the bow. But ya as you mentioned it is better to use on melt ganyu. Anyway, thank you once again for making character guide videos

For a Melt Ganyu team, c4 Yanfei is a viable shielder option if Zhongli isn't available. Her burst gives a nice 45% HP shield, and Prototype Amber gives a nice HP boost and can give some healing. She'll also allow Pyro resonance on the team if you're running Bennet + Kazuha, which is preferable over Diona since Ganyu doesn't need her burst as much in a melt team and you don't get anything out of cryo resonance (you're not hitting a cryo affected enemy bc they're affected by pyro)

I noticed you’re a Hutao haver so I thought you might want to try Ganyu and Hutao together. The team I use sometimes is Hutao, Xingqiu, Ganyu, Zhongli/or Bennett. The cryo aoe field and duration of Ganyu’s burst made it easy for Hutao to start her rotation with a massive melt nuke aoe burst, and any enemies entering the field will get automatically tagged with cryo for Hutao to start her CA spam with a melt. Her icicles also deal pretty respectable amount of off-field dps and can snapshot Hutao’s A2 and C4 passive giving Ganyu’s burst 12%(ascension 2) to 24% crit rate(C4), and can also snapshot attack buffs. C6 Diona is also great for battery, shield, 200 EM and cryo resonance for the first melt reaction hits. 200 EM is also nice for vapes.
If you have Elegy 5 star bow you can use that to give Hutao not only access to melt but also 100 EM, 20% atk while also solving Ganyu’s energy needs for this team if not using a C6 Diona. Skyward Harp or r5 Sac Bow would be my alternative picks. Favonius would be my last option for support Ganyu. For artifacts I’d go with 4 pc emblem of severed gates, or 2 cryo 2 noblesse.
The positives of this team comp is that it frees up Bennet or Zhongli and your anemo supports for other teams like Raiden Hyper, Ayaka Freeze, Childe National team, Sucrose or Childe tazer, Itto or C6 Noelle geo comps. The only team it denies is Raiden national, which I’m ok with since Raiden Hyper is a good alternative and in some cases better than national. Also, Hutao with access to melt is a better nuker than Raiden or Xiangling. Have a nice day!
Got her at 18 wishes before I hit pity, leveled her up to level 90 along with Skyward Harp and maxed her first talent immediately. Honestly she is absolutely insane, and I got Zhongli too so my saving efforts were worth it ❤️❤️❤️

Wow. This is detailed. I had C0 Ganyu, since released. And i really liked her. I got so lucky on her banner this time, since I got 3 of her constellations.
I don’t have a ton of EM on my substats for my melt ganyu, after watching this video changed the atk% sand to EM and although she was amazing before, it’s incredible the amount of damage she does now. Thank you!

Tysm, I just got my ganyu yesterday on my 21st reroll and have been wanting an in-depth guide
Been saving since September, got her on my first ten pull. A little anticlimactic, but hey, I ain't complaining. I have a pretty decent Wanderer set and most of a pretty good Shimenawa set (waiting on a crit dmg circlet). I'm honestly impressed by how strong she is even at the modest amount of investment I gave her for now.
Since now I have more than enough pulls to guarantee Kazuha when he does come back, and also since I have a pretty buff Ayaka, I'll also be farming for a Blizzard Strayer set. Even without the Blizzard set and Kazuha, Ganyu/Sucrose/Mona/Ayaka was surprisingly strong, so it will be even stronger with the right artifacts and a stronger anemo support.
Ye she’s strong asf literally carried me to 36 stars 😂 when I was only able to get 34

I got her kind of by accident since I tried to get Xingqiu constellations and since I had Zhongli i did in on the Ganyu banner. I was skipping roll10 when on the third one I got two Ganyus... was shook since I won both 50/50. This guide is a great help for someone who never actually planned to get her XD. But she's great.

Ahh I remember when she was called Cryo Amber before she was first released due to similarities in her kit. People who relied on leaks didn't know her charged attack scaling was nuts. It's funny that now she's one of the most beloved characters in the game.
My story as a Ganyu main is a fascinating one to me. For the longest time, I always had Amber and Aloy on my team, the first because I genuinely enjoyed her crowd controlling play style of taunting the enemies and shooting them from afar, the latter because I’m a genuine fan of the Horizon games and I liked her more than the other cryo characters I had. While I did like both of them, I felt a growing need to graduate from them in the future. Later on, I came into possession of the Amos’ Bow. Fast forward later still, and Ganyu’s rerun banner is up. Seeing as I already owned her best bow and her play style is similar to Amber’s, I thought I’d roll for her over Zhongli. Luckily, I got her, leading me to add her to my team, give her the Amos’ Bow, and graduate from Amber and Aloy. Whether it be by lucky circumstances or fate, Ganyu became my main.

From my experience support ganyu can work in a few really nice team comps: in Raiden national as a replacement for something (generally xingqui). In Hu toa comps for melt reactions, generic physical main dps teams (but with Eula also still works), mono cryo teams where Ayaka does the normals, that brand new CN hypermodern morgana team where no shots ever get fired and lastly that weird tartag freeze comp I tried once and somewhat worked.... needless to say I use her more as a support and she has a lot of solid options in that playstyle
Its not like I have never tried main dps ganyu either it is just that it hasn't really worked out for me quite aswell. I dont have zhongli so I use a full def build noelle with sac greatsword for shields (atleast rn, currently building a Tankfei as a replacement) but the main issue I have with melt is getting energy back to xiangling can be really hard and thats kind of important, even a lot of ER is often not enough so you have to give bennet a sac sword to kind of make up for it (which decreases his buff quite a bit), but then you need to do some real weird switching to get those particles to xiangling. As for freeze team ganyu.... well I simply just dont have a mona (somehow idk the game hates me)(funny story I didnt have a stringless till last week, 165k primos of summoning in) or a kokomi (I regret this) (also no venti but thats slightly less crucial) so that is just currently not possible for me (ok yes other hhdro options "technically" exist but like .... cmon). I also build a full "buff the goat" team, which was ganyu, diona, bennet and kazuha (I built a diona just for this and I regret it) it was pretty much just a desperate plee from me to get main dps ganyu to work for me but it wasn't all that insane damage wise and not having a shield made it pretty tough

(Edit: ok so I just grabbed my diona out of the bottomless put I threw her in and replaced her with the noelle in my melt team.... really no actual difference (diona holding elegy) with times on current abyss 12-1-1 getting on the good attempts to about 8:10 on the clock)
Oh and for my support ganyu at first I always used favonius (onnce again I didnt have stringless) but then I got elegy while going for homa so thats what I use now
Ok so I have been doing a lot of testing for myself over the last hour and I take back that you HAVE to use sac sword on bennet, it doesnt make as much of a difference as I thought, still the main issue with the standard melt team is getting xianglings burst up
@@wansper9297 are you using ER time piece, fav lance or catch and 4 pc emblem on Xiangling? Also do you have Hutao by chance? You definitely have Ganyu’s best support bow for reaction teams if you’re having trouble using her as main dps.

Got Ganyu since she first came out last year and I have been using the Wanderer Set for her. I have tried the Blizzard set and it was good too, but I don’t rely on reactions too much and even so the Wanderer set I had for her was better still too. Before I had the Prototype Crescent for her and it was the best one because I use her charge attacks only until I got the Amos bow.
Now all of this was from before Inazuma of course so I’m glad to see a updated build for her. I’m going to stick to what I have for her because her DMG is still insane for me and she’s still one of my strongest characters I have. But ur videos are always so helpful and I always go to them if I ever wanted to change things with my characters or get tips on building my characters.
I really like that ganyu has an option with jean (both are best girl) although now I am starting to have the trouble that there aren't enough bennets for my rational team.

Just got her. Took two pulls and searched this video ASAP. I also just happened to have a lv20 Amos' Bow. Surprisingly, even at lv37 (with decently optimal artifacts), Ganyu can kill lv78 hilichurls with little difficulty. It is kinda scary. Goes to show Adepti are no joke.

I’ve just recently reached soft pity and I’m hoping so much that she comes home soon. I think she would be a good addition to my team, considering I’m in need of a strong Cryo character.

As a Ganyu main I agree with everything you said. I have yet to try freeze Ganyu though because my Wanderer's Troupe luck is low key insanely good. Either way anyone who enjoys the aim shot play style should definitely pull for her, you won't be disappointed 😉

@@ALICIAVibes Well if you are running Melt with Ganyu go with Wanderer's Troupe, Freeze Blizzard Strayer. Bennett run Noblesse and Xianling either 2 piece crimson/ Noblesse or four piece emblem of severed fate. While Mona run Emblem of Severed Fate
I have ganyu using wanderer’s even in my freeze team since the resonance gives 15% crit rate and I use rosaria sup so that’s another 15% and my wanderer set came with so much crit rate I just use it and I’m already capped for crit rate so I really didn’t see a need for blizzard strayer so I just threw it on Rosaria

I found a great way to improve a Ganyu Melt team. So you have Ganyu, Xiangling, Bennett and Zhongli. Press L, swap Zhongli for Xingqui and Ganyu with Raiden. Such an improvement, insane.

Personally I got 2 sets I can use on Ganyu. 1 Wanders Troupe 4 piece and 1 Blizzard Strayer. I mostly use Ayaka in the freeze teams as I feel she fits more into a freeze team even tho both is really good.

I'm so glad finally found a tips how to build Ganyu. She's been in a bench for a while now as I'm not fan of her playstyle but I know she's one or maybe the strongest Character in the game. Lately, I'm getting bored with my Ayaka and would like to make a change. This video perfectly explain everything I need to know how to make my Ganyu strong as broke.
Super appreciate this update having pulled Ganyu and was struggling to find team build explanations. All the recommended teams I could find were nearly all the same, and none of them ever explained WHY or what their purpose was. The explanation of the intended purpose for each slot super helped with that since I don't have Venti, Kazuha, or Mona and have been struggling to find out if I even had any viable alternatives for a solid freeze team (thank jeebus I have an accidental Kokomi and a Sucrose ^^;;)

HELL YEAH ITS FINALLY HERE THANK YOU SO MUCH I originally pulled for zhongli (for my razor) and had 21 pulls left. I wanted more xingqiu and beidou constellations so I did one single pull on ganyu (adhd problems) and somehow got her. Because of that I instead spent the rest 20 on weapons banner and got Amos bow. So now I’m scouring the internet for ganyu guides and this came at the perfect time!

@UnlegendaryDuc tbh your luck is pretty good too that mona pull is arguably harder than getting ganyu lol. You can run Morgana now too. I only ever got one mona and i've been playing since release. Although everytime i lose 50/50 I get jean so I ain't complaining lol c6 soon

4pc Wanderers is still completely fine though, the difference in damage is pretty small. Just keep using Wanderers if you already farmed for it
I kinda want wanderers because I'm using hamayumi and I'm a mobile player so it's kinda hard to aim for weak points

I do want to add: Wanderers Troupe can be the BIS for her over the Blizzard Strayer in a freeze comp too. The nieche to Blizzard Strayer is it just makes her 10x easier to build. But if you have WT pieces that have similar crit damage, the damage output will be a lot higher since you have the charged attack boost. Of course, you will need to get lucky with crit rate rolls (however this isn’t as big of a deal as it seems since she will still get 35% extra crit rate on her charged attacks with cryo res and passive, so this means a lower crit rate than normal DPS will still be plenty)
I have some potentially good Wanderers pieces, but I have a feeling I won't get anything good in terms of rolls lol
Besides, I'm planning to build Emblem set Beidou as well, so farming Shimenawas pieces is way more convenient
I'm honestly conflicted which of these two rarios to stick with: both attack near 2.3k, then one gives her 43:186 crit ratio where as the other is simply changing to crit dmg hat changing that to 17:246. Both are wanderer troupe
@@f32lex36 You will be averaging much more DPS with the 43:186 build. Even with Ganyu's crit passive and cryo res, you will not crit often enough on the second build to make 246 crit damage worth it. A Blizzard set can get away with 17% crit rate for Ganyu, but Wanderer's definitely needs at the very least 40%. But with low crit, you do lose a lot of DPS on your burst as Ganyu's crit passive does not apply to her burst damage. And her burst does much more damage than people give it credit for.

A super smooth team with no cooldown on their skill.
E skill Shenhe > Burst Shenhe > E skill Ganyu > Burst Ganyu > 1x Charge ATK Ganyu > E skill Venti > Burst Venti > E skill Kokomi > E skill Shenhe > E skill Venti > E skill Ganyu > Charge ATK Ganyu 2x > E skill Venti > Repeat.
This combo is just damn fun 😆

Umm.. for me i got her but my opinion is she is not tht op i have 50/220 and 2.2k atk i always end up dead with her even with zong and her dmg is descent not good for abyss

What I notice a lot with all the content creators for these show cases always say SUCROSE is a viable option, but then show stuff with Kazuha who a lot of people could not get. I would like to see more SUCROSE teams as that seems more realistic.
Sucrose and Kazuha is like comparing Diona to Zhongli. They do almost the same but one is far better than others
Tbh, kazuha is a waste on ganyu melt. Better put in other team but it’s all up to power of simp.

tbh the Ganyu-Xiangling-Bennet-Diona team works wonders
I mean I think she still very viable without 5 stars especially her melt team with xiangling and bennet. I think there’s a difference between viability and best team comps. Also honestly if you don’t have other 5 stars it’s hard to find a dps who does such consistent damage without their burst. That being said this is coming from a ganyu simp
If u want her because many said she’s no.1 best dps, I’d say no, she’s more like balanced unit with multi functional aspect (that made her good unit tho)
Pull her if you want cryo or like her gameplay or her character. If u already have amos, considering it as your advantage. Her best part is she’s no.1 dps for beginner.
Don’t pull her if you already have some 5* but still in-need to build whole new party for her. She isn’t stronger than other choices available. You can slowly build team from resource u have.
Ganyu is viable anyway, no matter what team. You can see people clearing abyss with her solo.

just some tips. for melt ganyu team, if you have C6 and well build xiangling, sometimes its better to use ganyu burst and let Xiangling do the melt while ganyu keep apply cryo and do big raw cryo dmg.
its faster than ganyu do the melt dmg.
Also majorly easier
most guides recommend Amos + wanderer’s, and prototype + blizzard as alternative, but your videos always give the feel there are tons of ways for any player to make it he char work 👌

Since it hasn't actually been mentioned, the maximum crit rate you'll want on a freeze Ganyu is 25% if you have Cryo Resonance and 40% if you don't. Anything beyond that is wasted when hitting a frozen target. So yeah, if you run Cryo Resonance Skyward Harp and Polar Star will always overcap on CR. Also, since not everyone has access to Venti: Amos' Bow is still best in slot on freeze Ganyu if you don't run him alongside her since her charged attacks are still her main source of DPS in that case.
Overall a decent enough guide I guess but it really makes freeze Ganyu look way more expensive than she actually is when it's in fact her cheapest and easiest playstyle. All you really need to make her work is Diona, any off-field hydro applier and then ideally a Venerer (anyone who can swirl fits the bill). The great thing about Ganyu is that she just doesn't give a shit about what gimmicks the game throws at her and is incredibly self sufficient. Sure, Morgana is by _far_ the strongest way to play a freeze Ganyu but not everyone has Venti and Mona.
I waited 1 year to get ganyu and Amos bow and now that I did I feel like she's not as strong as i thought
Her charged attacks are really slow and not enough damage to make up for it, even the melt damage. My other teams are better. I found that her best usefulness is to get rid of the hydro herald shield

What no youtuber will tell you is that her usage rates in abyss are on a continuous decline and that ayaka simply powercrept her freeze team.
Ask any whale about her and they'll tell you that there is no reason to use her currently when ayaka and raidene exist. Raiden with the same supports from melt ganyu, performs better. Ayaka with the same supports from freeze ganyu, performs better.
The rerun is too late because she already got powercrept by newer units. Too bad people dont really look by themselves and take those videos as true when in reality she isnt broken at all.
Way too many good supports to make her work, and she doesnt even perform the best

She was also released during 1.2 where her raw dmg was considered OP, now with the current HP pools, her raw dmg without melt is very bad ...
