Daly is just a guy who never let fame get to his head!! Purely raw talent
Oh boy I have a nasty joke to follow your comment but like Daly I dont wanna be a jerk but i think he would like it so here it goes... Fame couldnt get to his head because there was no time slot available between food and alcohol. Sorry John
Rediculously underrated comment
John is definitely one of the most “authentic” people on the PGA Tour - what you see is what you get. You have to love his candor. Not always pretty, but always real.
You don't "have" to love anything he says, but yeah.... ;)
"...on the PGA Tour..." lol
The 2 funnest players to watch of that era
WTF does that mean. The fewer Americans like Daly the better.
@@robinvolpi &jjj
Nobody is more brutally honest than Daly. He never tries to hide who he really is.
When he knows that even the slightest revisionist history of his lifestyle would brutally fail, why bother attempting to change the narrative of his lifestyle even an iota ? The decision to remain faithful to the narrative already established is made for him without any wiggle room.
And God only knows what happens if he breaks routine in fact there are those who say he struggled with match aspects while on the wagon.
Tiger n John R my favorite golfers 💯#😀

I want to see John Daly and Ron White do a podcast together! That would be a good one!
HOLY SHIT. I never even thought about this and now it's the only thing I want in life.
Same person, won't happen can't happen.
You’re right in with this
There is probably a reason you’ve never seen Ron White and John Daly in the same room at the same time.
Ron white quit drinking awhile ago not sure how well they do together
John Daly is the real life “Happy Gilmore” attitude of The PGA. The man is raw, authentic, no nonsense, no bs, & non apologetic. He’s got an amazing beard, he’s cooler than Jack Frost’s ass & he purposely will go out of his way at tournaments to address his fans wether that’s signing balls, pics, clubs, flags, shirts, etc. or taking photos with them I’ve never ever heard John Daly tell a fan “sorry I can’t sign” or “sorry I can’t take a selfie” I’ve heard tour personnel try & tell John to tell the fans that & ive also heard John tell them “are they asking for your autograph/pic? No!? Then don’t worry about it man. I’m gonna go BS with my fans.” And he does! The icing on the cake is the fact that he’s a CHIVER on top of it all so if he ever sees you wearing anything Chive wether it’s the KCCO or BFM hat/shirt/wallet whatever you will be RAKD 1000% it doesn’t matter where & it doesn’t matter what. John’s made that perfectly clear if he sees someone with anything CHIVE he’s coming with the RAK and he’s said it’s been as simple as a coffee for the person behind him in a KCCO shirt & it’s gone up to a full brand new set of top of the line irons, brand new top of the line driver, brand new top of the line putter, an amazing club bag, and 10 dozen balls after being behind a guy at a pro shop wearing 1 of John’s Signature Chive golf shirts. The man in front of him was originally buying some cheap box of a dozen balls but he said when I noticed the man was wearing 1 of my golf shirts from The Chive I had to hook him up so I stopped the transaction and asked him what his dream setup would be from the pro shop we were in & I told him “don’t BS me I wanna know what you’d do if someone said grab what u want for your ultimate golf setup” so that’s what the man did & after the irons, driver, putter, woods, & bag I decided he needed some balls & tees so I threw in 10 dozen balls & more tees than any golfer needs. I paid & told him “Chive on man you’ve been RAKD Thank You for wearing my shirt!” 🤙🏻 Daly is the fkn man
Nick kyrgios is the real life

“He’s got an amazing beard” alright bud tuck it away there
I stopped reading after I had to scroll to see how long it was before I read it
Happy Gilmore wouldn't have been made if it weren't for Daly and the sport wouldn't have become more popular. Golf used to be wack and John Daly made it a lot cooler. Although alcohol use is not a great thing to glorify
I think the movie had to of been based off of JD
Can you imagine being a genuine world class golfer like Tiger ! And this guy who is a a heavy drinker and smokes. And he just rolls up on the first tee and kicks your ass ! You just have to love John Daly! LEGEND.
John is one of the most naturally talented golfers ever. Losing to him in his prime is nothing to be ashamed of tbh
John Daly is a world class golfer.
Tiger actually said to a reporter once, when asked about practicing so much that if he had Daly's raw talent, he wouldn't have to practice as much.
Yeah but even woods openly admits that John and Phil are two of the most disgustingly talented and naturally gifted golfers to ever walk the earth
John Daly should have a radio show. What a voice!

A quick message to J. D. I bought your "Grip it and Rip it" video years back, I was a beginner golfer could only drive the ball about 120 yards on a good day. But I got a hold of your tape and watched countless times and I developed my swing just like yours and now I can hit 280 yards without breaking a sweat! My golfing partners would look at me and ask where I took lessons. I would just tell them that J. D. is the man!! Just grip it and rip it and have a good time! To J. D. a real heart felt thank you, from a guy who loves to play the game! P.S. I don't have the tape anymore but I still watch your high lights on youtube.
Is that his 2004 gold lessons video with the course owner he called dad?
I admire John for always being himself and never apologizing for shit

True but he only got a fraction out of it , its sickening how he wasted his talent and blew his money ...but still a nice guy it seems

@@stevescontriano860 sorry but who is Bill W??
@@ph5391 By saying underrated they mean the dude was a solid player that won 2 majors ( 2 more than 99% of players do) but because he lived under a microscope people cared more about his personal life than his golf game. Look through the comments and find any criticism about his game because you won't it will be all about his lifestyle. Im sure if all these puds who commented on that lived under a microscope themselves we would all be laughing at thier vices and lifestyles too. Daly the best natural
Talent ever.
Tiger had addictions of his own. I watched Daly hit drives at the Greater Hartford Open in 1995. Unreal
I 100% agree, raw talent wise he's top of the class..
I do think tiger is on rhe same talent level but he also practiced insane and was way more driven...there's probably only maybe 5 people I'd say "raw talent" wise had the ability to do what tiger and Jack did...tiger, Jack obviously...Mickelson, Daly, and seve are the other three I'd say.
Before people get butt hurt I'm talking PURE talent, guys like Ben hogan, Gary player, palmer, etc. Are clearly talented and legendary...but pure talent...Daly is on the tiger/Jack level...and I do think Mickelson is in there as well and in on the fence with palmer
My god, this dude has aged well. Clean living at it's best.
Clean living?🤔🤣 Yeah hot dogs, donuts, diet cokes,30 beers a day, cigarettes, yup some clean living there lol
@@mikevonchota9263 The sarcasm clearly went over your head.
He's on the Keith Richards diet. Get pickled so you won't spoil.
JD is one of the most gifted to play the game.
John gave up smoking and drinking temporarily for the British Open in 1995. He admitted that instead of those things, he engorged a ton of chocolate. Chocolate chip cookies, chocolate muffins, chocolate milk, you name it.
motherfucker won the British Open on an absolutely shitty diet. No way Tiger could do that
The PGA needs to get JD in the HOF. He's done more for the sport than most the players they put in there. What would pro golf be without this character?
What? Go read about the pros that came and went before him. Those guys were outrageous, living out of there cars.
He hasn’t even played in a Ryder cup
I remember when the tour had all kinds of "Daly Types". It was way more entertaining.
This is why people love JD, he represents the regular guy who loves golf....
I met John in Syracuse at the Burnett Park Golf Course. He was in the bar and I got to have a drink with him. The Company I was with, Central New York Coach, was holding an employee golf tournament and he was in town for something. He had played through and was enjoying some toddies at the bar. He was a nice guy I said hello Mr. Daily and he said hello back and raised his glass and I left him alone the rest of the night but sat right next to him listening. He is a man's man for sure!
As Tiger said 'if I had your talent Daly I'd be doing the same as you'. Such a character God bless 'em.
I met him at a hooters party during masters week a few years ago. such an awesome guy.
How can you not like Mr. Daly!! Straight up Bad Ass. Legend.
Hilarious story, also I have that same tiger poster behind JD 😂😎
when you mentioned the sponsors it reminded me of the scene in Tin Cup when he is telling people about his sponsors in the US Open
Daily is great, but the interviewer kills it for me.
Got to hit balls beside him in the u.s open and it was unbelievable to see the talent, this was in 09. Best pair of hands you will ever see! If he would have applied himself and practiced like we did he would have given tiger a run in every tournament!
I got to follow him around in Houston. The sound of his driver hitting the ball echoed throughout Harris County. Amazing!!
It was me that gave him the bud light in his buggy
I don’t think John had the golf swing for the kind of consistency that would be necessary to compete with Tiger Woods. He could have been a generational great had he put less alcohol in his gullet and more work in on the range and putting green though.
I agree. I have been around Daly a few times even going as far back as the 80s in his Southwest Conference days. You should have seen him hit an iron with the Titleist Balata.....spin city
@@Ditmanppi That sounds like TV watcher comment. If you look at the historically great golfers they all were unique. If Daly stayed sober he would have won 10 majors and 60 tournaments with his swing. I saw Daly a bunch in the 80s and 90s on the course. And I have been around Tiger. Talent edge goes to Daly. Tiger is just a better competitor.

People celebrate John Daly as real, down home and so on. I saw a tournament where he was suffering DTs on the course course. He was shaking so bad other players had to help him off the course. He's pissed away millions of dollars gambling. He's no role model for ordinary man, unless they aspire to be a drunk.

This man is the textbook definition of "Hennything Possible"
“Sounds like a ping putter when you hit a golf ball” 🤣😭😭
My life in and out of the rough, had me laughing. Still have after all these years.
Had John been able to beat back some of those demons, we'd be talking about him, Tiger and Phil all in the same breath. He was a huge waste of talent, but an awesome human.
Alot of people probably hate to read that, but its undeniably true... ✌
If he were sober he would be a nothing nobody, actually.
Says you, not him. He sounds like he's just fine...
I really struggle with “waste of talent.” We all have our demons and no doubt John has very publicly lived out some very vulnerable moments. He has won 2 majors and garnered the utmost respect of his peers.
.
Waste of talent? I promise you there are those living very public lives seen as “maximizing” their talent who would give anything walk in their own real and authentic shoes as John does in the public eye. We all make mistakes and I’m sure there are things that John would love to easily change about his own life style if he could snap his finger. I tip my hat to his raw real self. He is relatable, appreciates what he has, and would never judge anyone.
Waste of talent? It’s incredible and I’m grateful he is still relevant, making me smile, sharing stories, and slinging the sticks. Top tier talent if you ask me (golf mentally? REALLY hard) 👍🏻
But then he wouldn't be John. He is what he is and we'll probably never see anyone like this ever again.
