Hey guys! I'm the composer for Smash Remix's version of Dedede's theme. This was my first big project for Remix, and I'm really glad people liked it! I hope you all enjoy the update. 🙌
Me and Nick knew eachother for a long time, since the MSN messenger days, was a really great guy and dedicated developer. His inspirations were both Me and Agoat, who made Ocarina of Time letsplay and meme videos in the early days of youtube. I wasn't told and just stumbled upon this information that he passed recently.

Review Time (This will be the long review) 1.3.0 is one of the new major update of the mod. Characters: Marina Lightyear is the character from Nintendo 64: Mischief Makers. It's one of the new characters that never appears in any smash bros games ever. She's both a technical and a grappler type character. Her moveset is based in her own game. She has 5 jumps like Kirby or Jigglypuff. But every jump gets small hop. Her special move can grab an opponent and in the air for great recovery. But lose one or two second in the air if you trying to jump. The special part of it was when you use a special, you can throw in four different directions. And if you do that in the air, use a down direction to make a great meteor smash. When using the grab button, you can carry the opponent and do the throw like the moveset from Donkey Kong. And do the same thing while grabbing the heavy items. While grabbing, use a attack button to shake a opponent out and damage them and the item respawn. Down B is like Ness when enemy throw stuff at you, it carry on the bag but doesn't heal you. You can also put items you collect and press down b like Villager in later Smash games. Pressing it again and you get items that depends how much items you have. Either crystal, Boomerang, stars, or final. A dream character from the N64 reps is what everyone wants in the smash legacy. King Dedede: King Dedede is the character from Kirby series and one of the final scrapped characters that was missing in Smash 64. The other scraps character are Marth, Mewtwo, and Bowsers and they all originally supposed to be in Smash 64 and they all added in Smash Remix. Which make a lost characters complete. Dedede has the same moveset from Brawl and has very great details in this game. He also has his own Victory theme. He also has own stage call Mt Dedede and it from the Kirby Dreamland or Kirby Adventure. Young Link: It not new, but different. His new moveset is the Down b and its a Bomchu that's from Majora Mask. It has different speed and some moveset has change. Stages: Dragon King remix is the new layout from the Dragon King stage. The differences is this version is bigger and has move platform. Big Blue is the stage that is updated which now have moving cars now. Glacial River remix is the new layout of the original, but only as a straight stage instead of curves. Dracula castle is the new stage that is from Castlevania and also the biggest stage like Hyrule. Reverse Castle is the remix layout from Dracula castle in different style from the original. New Features: CPU level 10 is one of the new features and my favorite type of challenge. It is a CPU that go to the highest skill that you can fight and try to master your skills to the new level. New Polygon characters they added and it not all, only some. When choosing a character in versus, the one feature I enjoy to try was pressing a L button to choose random characters. It one of the features I wanted as a dream and I'm happy they added it. It's Polygon Marina, Dr Mario, Sonic, Sheik, Wario, Lucas, Bowser, and Wolf. Cruel Z-cancel mode is a option that is for challengers only. It has 7% damage, lava floor, Shield-break, instant KO, forced taunt, bury, or random. The way it works is try jump and attack. But attack while landing trigger that Z-cancel. Tripping is the option that a lot of people don't like in Brawl and has more option like Low, high, or brawl. It another type of challenge, but more like rare tournament like event. And finally, the Dpad map option that can be either smash, tilt, special, or movement. A fair control that people wanted in the long time and safe way to play it for tournament or special events. Whispy mode is the option that only works in dreamland stage. It change how low or high the tree can blow wind. Their option that are normal, Japanese, super, or hyper. A fun idea for a player to move out of the stages. When winning as Sheik, She has her own victory theme. New Item: Pitfall is the items that is from Brawl. It make traps and get stunned and easily get knockout easy. Conclusion: A Great major update that added two new characters. One character that is from a final scrapped character and now playable. And the other for a fresh new character that never appears in any smash games and one of the dream character come true. When I play Remix 1p, that added a new vs stage called tiny team. Tiny team is a vs stage that pick one character and make them as three tiny team. They are little tricky, but a fun new challenge to fight. Great new challenge to mastered, fun updated characters, and great new feature that people will enjoy to try. It feel like a complete new expansion game because it feel great to play 4 cuts characters in one great mod. 6 months was worth it and it was the best new mod to play. 10/10 A++
I never even considered Marina for Smash 64 before but now that I've seen it, I love everything about her being here. EDIT: Guess I should have clarified that I loved playing Mischief Makers as a kid despite being terrible at it; the possibility of her being in Smash just never crossed my mind but it makes all the sense in the world with how the Smash Remix team did her. Haha

Marina seems so cool! I thought after seeing her there was no longer a chance for Banjo-Kazooie to get it since all the slots on the screen were filled. And then I saw King Dedede and my hope was restored. Hoping to see Banjo and other cool additions in the future!
This has to by far be the best functioning mod I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s so professional and really adds on top of the original as if it were from Nintendo or something.
Hey, I'm one of the newer developers for Remix. Glad to see a positive reception to our update! I created cruel z-cancel mode and I even learned how to create stages to make Draculas Castle. I'm looking forward to making more content for the community.
Speaking of Dracula's Castle I do hope this means we're getting Simon Belmont added to Remix soon (Just don't add Ricther as well since he was a pointless addition to Smash). That plus I do hope the developers think to include A Silent Hill stage (From The First SH game on PlayStation 1) in Remix. All of that would be so dope as sin.
BTW Mr. Developer. Here are some character suggestions- Diddy Kong Solid Snake Dixie Kong Crash Bandicoot Skull Kid From Majora's Mask Spyro The Dragon Porky Minch From Earthbound Earthworm Jim The Mach Rider Rayman If you guys could add in these characters. That would be amazing.
Marina Lightyears!!! Mischief Makers is such a good N64 game, AWESOME choice for a 64 rep!!! And King dedede of course is always a welcome addition, we’re not just floating around the background of dreamland anymore!!! Keep up the good work, this mod is incredible!

@@dylansmith5206 honestly PlayStation All Stars had potential to be a worthy competitor to Smash Bros but the problem was that it was being made at the wrong time in general (Also I think the developers should’ve done what the first two Smash games did and only focused on Sony characters). Also for a PS All Stars fan game? Honestly at this point I think more are interested in seeing PlayStation characters being added into Smash rather than Sony making their own game. Not to sure about an Xbox Smash Bros though.
okay, I was just introduced to Smash Remix today, and i have now gone back through and watched all the videos you guys have done, I have to say, This looks beautiful, like art, It is clear you guys care a lot about accurately representing each franchise and put a lot of care into how theyre shown off in the Mod, on top of in these wonderfully handcrafted trailers. I look forward to seeing what other new characters are coming, new stages and more, it is clear you guys put a lot of love into this project.

Man even though this isn’t offical I think this is one of the best smash games ever made. I grew up in the N64 era so I have so much nostalgia for the polygonal designs. I love how this mod is a celebration of the N64 era.
I am seriously in live with this mod SO much. It takes the sonewhat empty Smash bros from N64 and fills it with so much content, it really feels like a celebration of the N64 with so many iconic characters in the game now :D
I had a deep feeling Marina would get in when I saw her stage in previous versions, but I felt it was too good to be true... Now you pull this off and not only bring her to life in remix but in the most loving and cared way. This is by far the most respect I have ever seen her been given, from her moves down to the way you laid out the video. As weird as it is to say I teared up when I saw her silhouette. Back in 1999, I was a kid who posted on the old forum VGChat, and they had a Super Smash Bros. forum. During all the Smash For Dolphin threads, I would talk about how I really wanted to see Marina Liteyears in the game. Only one other person on that forum knew who I meant. Ever since then she's always been my pipe dream despite knowing she was an impossibility. As soon as I saw that boomerang sprite, I leapt out of my chair. I'm still in shock that Marina would be added so lovingly to a fan project like this. She's everything my 9-year-old self dreamed of. With the Everdrive I can actually use my childhood N64 to live out my childhood dream and that's just nuts to me. Maybe this is silly, but I'm seriously tearing up. This is such a cool project. Dreams do come true, in their own ways.
Cool but where is gex and glover and croc buck bumble character from chameleon twist and others. They are unloved much like Marina. Oh also goemon as well.
1:35 Fox and Falcon’s speed match their in-game properties. Fox starts with the lead because his dash is faster, but then Falcon takes over because his run speed is higher. Really nice attention to detail.
I checked this out because youtube recommended it, but I did not expect to see Mischief Makers get brought in. It was one of my favorite games as a kid, but as time went on I came to realize it sadly turned out to be a pretty obscure and underrated game, so it's awesome to see it finally get some of the recognition it deserves.
This has always been such an amazing and impressive mod project, and the hard work done by everyone on the project is greatly appreciated. Everything looks so great! But y'all have utterly won my heart and soul with this one. Marina Liteyears has always been a character I've massively adored, and seeing her in Smash is quite literally a dream come true. Thank you all for this, it looks wonderful!
As someone who considers myself a number 1 fan of the original smash, and play it religiously on my N64, I have to say that this is truly one of the greatest sights to ever behold, a dream come true. same here. whenever I see an RIP message about someone who was related on a project/show/movie/etc., I rarely know who they are. still I always feel bad for them and their friends/family. this was an awfully kind gesture from the team, especially with how hype this new trailer and update is.

Ahh yeah, Marina's been the character I've REALLY been hoping for in this game, and I'm glad she's finally here. One thing I will say is that I hope there's an option to give her the English voice because it doesn't feel quite right without "Shake Shake!", but I'm glad that we got the fighter at all. I also really love the Young Link revamp and Dedede as well, and the Symphony of the Night stage looks really cool. I thank everyone on the team for bringing this together, as well as my respects for Crookedpoe for what he's done for you all as well. May he rest in peace.
@@gigastrike2 Yeah, it's kind of weird. Probably someone on the team played the game with an og japanese rom and got biased towards that. But like you said, this is for the English version of Smash Bros, so it should have her English voice from the get go. Just a minor nitpick though.

You would think DreamCast Sonic would've just spam dashed to the end, but NOPE, also there is now way in hell that Marina could have beaten sonic by stopping him for seven seconds but then again, this is smash remix.
With every patch, feels like more to smash brawl, thank you so much for final destination brawl and super mario world intro/credits theme. I needed that in this bad days to feel like to my teenage era with these 2 awesome masterpieces
Speaking Of Brawl I still the game thinks to add a boss battle mode like the one Brawl had where you can fight some bosses from other Smash games like Taboo and Master Core. That plus thinks to Include Trophies and some Characters who were in Brawl like R.O.B, Pit, And Snake (With having Codec Calls this time).
I'M FREAKING OUT! THIS WAS BASICALLY THE SMASH 64 EQUIVALENT TO THE SORA TRAILER FOR ME. I thought it was snake at first because of the headband but I saw the foot race scene I was like "Nah, there's no way that's marina" BUT IT WAS BRO! IT WAS BRO! YOU GUYS DID SUCH A GREAT JOB WITH HER TOO. I love mischief-makers it's one of my favorites N64 games! (Man, I was so shocked that I can't even type correctly anymore 💀)
This is probably my favorite update so far! I cannot express how grateful I am to the developers of this mod. Thank you for making my childhood game even better! I cannot express how happy I was when I saw Brawl Dedede at the end of this! I have so many fond memories playing as Dedede in Brawl and seeing him in the 64 artstyle is my favorite thing ever! Mischief Makers was one of the first games that i've played, although i remember close to nothing of the game since i was so little when i played it, the art style and character design always stood out to me.
I loved that you guys added Rey DDD, and Marina Liteyears, even though I don't even know anything about her game, I still loved it because her moveset is so good I would love it if they add Bomberman or Pac-Man please

I just wish that they had gone with her English voice. Marina's "shake, shake!" and "YAH-HOO" among other fraises are forever embedded into my memories when it comes to her and her game. It just feels so wrong that they're absent.
That was an amazing update trailer and the first I've heard of Smash Remix. Definitely going to download it and give it a try! Also Mischief Makers is a great game.

I thought after seeing her there was no longer a chance for Banjo-Kazooie to get it since all the slots on the screen were filled. And then I saw King Dedede and my hope was restored. Hoping to see Banjo and other cool additions in the future!

@@dylansmith5206 honestly PlayStation All Stars had potential to be a worthy competitor to Smash Bros but the problem was that it was being made at the wrong time in general (Also I think the developers should’ve done what the first two Smash games did and only focused on Sony characters). Also for a PS All Stars fan game? Honestly at this point I think more are interested in seeing PlayStation characters being added into Smash rather than Sony making their own game. Not to sure about an Xbox Smash Bros though.
okay, I was just introduced to Smash Remix today, and i have now gone back through and watched all the videos you guys have done, I have to say, This looks beautiful, like art, It is clear you guys care a lot about accurately representing each franchise and put a lot of care into how theyre shown off in the Mod, on top of in these wonderfully handcrafted trailers. Man even though this isn’t offical I think this is one of the best smash games ever made. I grew up in the N64 era so I have so much nostalgia for the polygonal designs. I love how this mod is a celebration of the N64 era.

I am seriously in live with this mod SO much. It takes the sonewhat empty Smash bros from N64 and fills it with so much content, it really feels like a celebration of the N64 with so many iconic characters in the game now :D

Back in 1999, I was a kid who posted on the old forum VGChat, and they had a Super Smash Bros. forum. During all the Smash For Dolphin threads, I would talk about how I really wanted to see Marina Liteyears in the game. Only one other person on that forum knew who I meant. Ever since then she's always been my pipe dream despite knowing she was an impossibility. As soon as I saw that boomerang sprite, I leapt out of my chair. I'm still in shock that Marina would be added so lovingly to a fan project like this. She's everything my 9-year-old self dreamed of. With the Everdrive I can actually use my childhood N64 to live out my childhood dream and that's just nuts to me.
Maybe this is silly, but I'm seriously tearing up. This is such a cool project. Dreams do come true, in their own ways.

1:35 Fox and Falcon’s speed match their in-game properties. Fox starts with the lead because his dash is faster, but then Falcon takes over because his run speed is higher. Really nice attention to detail.

I checked this out because youtube recommended it, but I did not expect to see Mischief Makers get brought in. It was one of my favorite games as a kid, but as time went on I came to realize it sadly turned out to be a pretty obscure and underrated game, so it's awesome to see it finally get some of the recognition it deserves.
This has always been such an amazing and impressive mod project, and the hard work done by everyone on the project is greatly appreciated. Everything looks so great!
But y'all have utterly won my heart and soul with this one. Marina Liteyears has always been a character I've massively adored, and seeing her in Smash is quite literally a dream come true. Thank you all for this, it looks wonderful!

Ahh yeah, Marina's been the character I've REALLY been hoping for in this game, and I'm glad she's finally here. One thing I will say is that I hope there's an option to give her the English voice because it doesn't feel quite right without "Shake Shake!", but I'm glad that we got the fighter at all. I also really love the Young Link revamp and Dedede as well, and the Symphony of the Night stage looks really cool. I thank everyone on the team for bringing this together, as well as my respects for Crookedpoe for what he's done for you all as well. May he rest in peace.
