Build on Castle Leazes, flatten St. James' Park (unfortunately) BUT create a St. James' Park memorial walkway that leads to the new stadium. A bit like Wembley has with Wembley way. I just think it would be nice to have a walkway from Strawberry Place up to the new stadium that goes directly through the plot where SJP once was.

A state of the art stadium at the leazes with the club preserving the rest of the area would be the best scenario for both parties in my opinion. You could even have a green space or family area where the old stadium stood with memorabilia in place or something for the local area

They tried a similar plan in the 90’s, expect lots of people with southern accents to suddenly appreciate Newcastle’s “shrinking green ares” again and bully the council into blocking it. Drive 5 minutes out of this city and you’re in the countryside so it’s not like back in Victorian days when the city needed a park so people had a place to go but that won’t stop them whinging. Hope it doesn’t work this time.

Moving/swapping the green space to St James' would be nice.
Extend Leazes Park down to the Strawberry.
The James's Place residents would be happy to as the park could sort of extend to them too, thus maybe increasing their property value.
There could even be a tunnelled fast-track road for the hospital.

Given that folk were MENTIONING the land next to arena, no one has mentiond doing away with the golf club (Newcastle utd golf club) and building there. Theres plenty of room ,gonna be easier to resolve and purchase than leazes park, only 10 mins on bus from city centre and it on a main transport route/ road through the city.. food for thought

As Urban Green - the organisation that is responsible for the maintenance of our city's parks is in financial difficulties due to cuts in its funding our owners could promise to take them over and promise millions to improve all our parks for the benefit of the wider community. That would keep even the tree huggers happy and lessen the amount of objections to building on Castle Leazes. Maybe you should mention that to Wor Mandy next time you see her Matty!

I'm sure i read recentjy that Spurs' new stadium allows them to generate £6m each matchday compared to £1.2m approx for us. Theres only 8,000 capacity difference which isnt worth £4.8m so we need to look at wgat tgey offer that we can also offer in the shorter term, stuff like catering in house versus contracted out and so on.
Theres clamour for expansion or a new stadium syre but we've also barejy scratched the surface of what we can change now to improve income.

There are many examples of old structures being disassembled and then in new location rebuilt, eg Capt. Cook's house is in Melbourne, it was once on Teeside... but in the instance of Leazes Terrace that is simply not going to happen, first they would have to be able to buy every last one of the owners out, not going to happen, plus you could never get a compulsory purchase for a stadium to be built.

  • @raindancer80
    @raindancer80 Před měsícem +4

I think supporters need to prepare themselves for leaving SJP. The cost to expand the ground by as little as 5000 seats is really astronomical for what they'll get in return revenue. I can see them doing a deal to put a big new ground in Castle Leazes. The trade off being to turn the current SJP into parkland more than likely so they only lose a couple of acres net. Even if they decide all this tomorrow the absolute earliest we'll be in there is 28/29 season.

@@keirnicholson9255 football isn't big at all in Melbourne, particularly amongst AFL supporters. During the women's world cup here a lot of people supported the Matildas, especially as they progressed further, but I heard a lot of people saying they didn't really understand the game and they thought it was boring as there wasn't many goals. By contrast, the lowest scoring AFL this weekend had 16 goals so the supporters are just used to there being more action. Also worth noting that the timezones are horrendous for anyone in Australia trying to follow football in Europe, so it's just not really a thing, unless someone has moved here from a football playing country. Even with the Magpies/B&W connection I don't see many Collingwood fans embracing it, especially with it being on a Wednesday night. Playing at the 'G will be an awesome experience, but I don't see it creating any long-lasting legacy.

Interesting to hear they are going to Australia for one game. Reckon they’ll do lots of promotion out there and maybe even launch the new adidas kits. Wouldn’t be surprised if they recalled Kuol to play. Also they’ll probably visit Collingwood which is an Aussie rules football club as it’s in a neighbourhood of Melbourne, who wear black and white, and nicknamed the magpies as well. Loads of opportunities to be had out in Oz and they’ll probably look at an A-League franchise, maybe Newcastle Jets. Darren Eales and Peter Silverstone - you heard it her first, no commission needed 😉

If we want to get to the next level & spend what we can, re-locating is the only way. As expanding our current ground, it is never going to be big enough, let alone maximise psr, etc. The Geordie's could make a good atmosphere in a cardboard box. Build & they, we, shall come.

Leazes park is a grade two listed park, there is still options its not a certain no goer like Leazes terrace which is grade one,
If the park was re generated, which would be part of the option for us to get the go ahead, we could put the bandstand etc moved to another site on Leazes park, we've got to move forward, where there is a will n all that, things can happen, and it could look magnificent, the incredible new stadium, and a re generated park which would improve it immensely, and maybe it would be safe to walk through at night as well!!!!

Have a player power ranking for the season, with players acquiring coefficient points for their performances across the season and then associating a certain transfer fee for a range of coefficients.

I was in Leazes Park this afternoon and I wish I'd seen you! I'm 100% behind the Castle Leazes idea and think the idea of giving the site of the old stadium back to the people as green space is great. Castle Leazes is at the moment contributing to climate change as in the spring and summer it his home to a herd of cows which we all know produce tons of methane from their rear ends! If we were to build a new stadium it should be made to look like a cathedral with towers and flying buttresses so that it fits its name. However in Spital Tongues there are a lot of tree hugging hippies who would probably disrupt any building work by gluing themselves to construction equipment or even set themselves of fire in protest at losing the farting cows. By the way if you feed the geese on the lake they actually make a sound that sounds like Feck Off - which is really ungrateful of them!

Hello the strongest line that the club have is "right we are moving to North Tyneside", and therefor that is a massive financial loss for the city council, the matchday revenues (people coming to the city for prematch drink/meal) from 30-35 matches would be colossal so I think that this is a hardball tactic that the head honchos of the club can deploy, plus BROWN ENVELOPES under the table, yes it is cynical but the club should bribe the Planners at the City Council. In turn the Saudi's can restore SJP back into a Parkland, or maybe a Botanical Garden, whack some Palm Trees in there so they feel at home.
Another theory that I had seen was the area around St Peters Basin, which is across Tyne from Gateshead International Stadium. I like the idea of connecting the Club to the River/Water in general.

Where you're standing is the perfect spot for the new stadium, a new Newcastle Utd stadium right there. The existing Stadium location can make way for a park area to replace any park area taken. A swap. Turn the current stadium into parkland and the parkland where you are into a new stadium. Makes sense, right? The Newcastle Council are so backwards and slow in their thinking it's staggeringly dumb quite frankly. The new ground will attract people from all over the world in football terms and in terms of concerts etc. That's fantastic for Central Newcastle, shops, pubs and clubs, which can all collectively be developed further/and be modernized etc. It will bring in a lot of money. The Premier League and the government should assist with this idea. But I doubt it. This simple land swap would make the whole area much more financially viable and attractive. It would be insane not to do it. The council can even transfer that precious band stand behind you to the new park land where the current stadium sits. I would anchor two sailing ships in the lake there which would be floating restuarnts/pubs. Increasing Newcastle's 'nautical history'. Yet another big attraction. Open up little coffee stands around the park with deck chairs. Put a windmill in there somewhere too. More flowers. A bit of imagination 'ah what old boy!' Cheers! ❤

New Stadium there is the most probable outcome and on that site. It will create so many jobs We NEED “A new state of the Art stadium to “compete. We can’t extend that current stadium bottom line if we did it would look ridiculous because the East stand cannot go any bigger. It looks stupid already. I love the stadium lots of memories, but it’s time to move on.
Also old stadium could be training/offices for the club. Make it aligned with how City have theres. It would be class to be watching it get built whilst hoing and watching the games.
Australia is a great idea it will create more interest/ recognition. And certain players will be moved on who take part in the game. Smart….
