With the GE Evolution Series locomotives found everywhere, I thought it would be nice to create a compilation of my K5HL horns, the distinctive indicator of any GEVO locomotive. I knew this would be long, but I did not anticipate it this long. Regardless, I hope you enjoy this celebration of this distinctive cry of the next era of railway locomotives.

Shoutouts to NS 7555 for its sweet sound at 50:54 and in the very last clip of the video. Original K5HLs are so good, only topped by the K5LA and its modern cousin which is also the twin of this horn. Love it.
I sure do love me some First Gen K5HLs. :)
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,way back in the early 80 ties I worked for a cab company,,,,,on skillman ave...........When the trains came out of the tunnel from the east river,,,,,,,,,Dem horns were so powerful and loud,,,,the locals protested ,,,,too much noise......I am today 73....,,,,those days were my prime...........Best engine ever built was the E -60........and I always loved the decades of the toasters....................................

In my opinion, ratty sounding horns. Nathan P5 used by Southern Railway has such a cleaner and more precise warning sound.
Maybe P5s then, so many P5s now are so fouled. 😭
P5 still in my top two for horns, though.
