    Something you should mention, is that you can actually rotate the strut assembly once you have it screwed in at the top. I thought for a solid hour that I did something wrong because the strut wouldn't line up with the knuckle. Found out through forum that you can actually rotate it once it's on the top mount. Otherwise, this was awesome

    If you go behind the knuckle and tap a spreader into the back to the strut it comes out very easy you just have to tighten it good afterwards

    On my 2005 ZX4 ST that's lived 16 year in CA I didn't have to undo the axle nut. I just put a short (~16") 2"x4" on the knuckle and hit the end of it with a sledge. Worked like a charm! Great video.

  • @sadfur8728
    @sadfur8728 Před rokem +1

    17:40 going around a second time doesn't do anything unless you're not sure if you missed torquing one completely the first time around, because static friction will always sound off or click without any motion of the nut.
    To do anything like that it needs to be first loosened up again so that it rotates during the tightening process.

    5:00 Keeping the rotor tight against the hub is a good precaution because I had that very issue where rust flakes got in behind the rotor and caused run out because they acted like a shim.

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  Před 4 lety +1

      +Layne Schwabedissen Thanks for checking us out! There could be multiple reasons why you're having this particular problem. It could be as simple as the upper mount not being torqued properly or there could be a defect with th strut. We suggest taking your vehicle to a nearby reputable shop to identify the cause.

    • @tredogzs
      @tredogzs Před 3 lety +5

      Most likely the sway bar link (stabilizer bar links). These are fairly cheap and would be replaced anytime you do the strut replacement.

    • @nepfan613
      @nepfan613 Před 3 lety +2

      It’s the Sway bars. Recommend Moog sway bars, stopped the clanking throughout the whole vehicle

    bought a full assembled strut from oreilleys got home took everything apart, set aside my old one, and couldn't fit the new in. examined the parts and it lacked that slight bevel at the bottom end of the strut. Sadly you skipped the hardest part of the process, getting the knuckle to line up with the new strut and slide in. im the only thumbs down unfortunately because you skipped the only reason i came to this video
