  • During the Tudor period, there were many people who were executed in some of the most brutal ways. Lots of women were condemned for their crimes and during the reign of Elizabeth I Anne Line was executed for hiding a number of Catholic Priests. She was discovered doing this which was considered a very serious crime and was then taken to Tyburn to be executed in front of a huge crowd. She was executed on the triangular gallows known as the Tyburn Tree.

It is hard to find a more savage or murderous kingdom in Europe, at the time, than England...incredibly savage even for the time.

The Catholic Church was even more cruel during the Inquisition. So many senseless murders by Protestants and Catholics in the name of religion. Jesus must be ashamed and horrified by all of them.

Other European countries were much the same. What about the St Bartholomew's Day massacre in France? Unlike the rest of Europe torture was illegal in England at this time, although a few exceptions were made in exceptional circumstances.

I wonder how the prince of peace feels about so many people murdered/massacred in his name over the ages .

Or saints being prayed to in worship when this was against the message.

Sometimes it seems that we live in a difficult age, but imagine living at that time! I think almost every branch of the church should repent in dust and ashes for things that happened back them.
