I was born in 1960 and remember this when I was a little child. Obviously reruns in the later part of the 60's. I'm in Australia and we didn't get TV until 1959 here but I was certainly brought up on a lot of TV and love going back on all the old b/w shows of the day.
You are right the captain got these great expressions. by the way they all have great facial expressions and they show up so great on these Black and White shows. I never saw such a crisp clear B&W television program not even The Addams family had sharp video on CZcams
@@georgeplagianos6487 another episode that was great was Toody taking care of Captain Block’s parrot!!! Hysterical, Toody at his best. The episode was “I hate Captain Block”
Wow this script is so well-written so funny so stereotypical of an ethnic group. You'd think it was written by Mel Brooks. He seems like the master of that type of writing. I wonder if Mel ever saw this episode?. He would probably think it was written by him he's so up in age maybe it's not as sharp.. it probably saved himself it was glad he made these shows before the PC censors castrated comedy.
I just realized Toody (Joe Ross) is also Jerry Mathers. Just take a closer look. Even at different ages they are the same. So was Ringo Starr and Yessir Arafat the same person. There's really only 17 people in the world when you pair everyone.
The part where Toody tries to get back Lucille was hilarious! Especially the part where he tries to explain the mushrooms in his pocket. ("You know how things start to sprout!")
By the way looking at officer Muldoon's eyes he looks very sensitive, very handsome look on him. I keep thinking his eyes might be blue. I think he was much better in this TV show than on the Munsters. I'm Maureen Stapleton man she's sharp she's believable with these one-liners. She was very very good in this episode.. All these one line or two liners is so funny. I have to say I work at a halal stand in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn I have to say you can most of the time tell gypsies when they roll up to the stand in their Bentleys and rolls-royces and Mercedes. I also have to say they have this fast and smart way of talking they almost can pre guess what you're going to say. Their skin complexion is much more different than the Middle Eastern folks who come up and get their mostly beef beef on their lamb gyros and platters. Oh almost forgot the flashy jewelry they're wearing around their neck or on their fingers. I hadn't see Middle Eastern guys have any jewelry on them. Gypsies do standout we will have stereotypes that are hard to break. Thanks again for these CZcams channel producers for loading up these programs for us to enjoy thank you thank you thank you
He was the cave man and Emma Jean Coca was a cave woman. 2 astronauts go back in the and live with cave people, when they go back to the present the cave people come back with them. It was a Sherwood Schwartz production before Gilligan's Island, it used the same music during the show that Gilligan's Island used.
Such a great episode. I wonder what kind of politically correct "_ism" charge would be hurled at this episode if it were on TV today. So far as I know, gypsies are not considered a Democrat voting bloc, so they might not get the same "kid glove" treatment as other groups.
20 years ago i thought tv was so mindless that it was no longer funny they would even laugh for us, in fact as i watched i realized the pats they laughed at were not funny, they were telling us when to laugh . i felt like they were telling us to laugh. i was insulted
Car 54 is a comical masterpiece! Fred Gwynn, Al Lewis and Joe E. Ross are comical geniuses!
Mighty Moe! - such a distinguished actress was Maureen Stapleton!
That gypsy woman seems like a female version of Chief Wild Eagle from F Troop. She's really funny.
She's the sister of Jean Stapleton, Edith Bunker on All in the Family.
@@kaydee8265She's not.
Seeing Fred Gwynne sewing is the too funny.😀😁
Astonishing: as funny as I remembered, and I haven't seen Car 54 since it went off the air...1963. What a cast! Maureen Stapleton in this episode...

I loved this program. When I was a cop someone said I looked like Muldoon from Car 54!
Nice to see Nipsey Russel!
Gypsy Russel?😂
I love this old school comedy. No p.c. taboo to bug you.
You got that right!!! And everyone knew what gender they were.
An absolutely classic comedy
that's oscar winner maureen stapleton as the gypsy
I ask you, is that not priceless? The script would never pass today for being so truthful. The surprise ending is an extremely clever fake-out ;o)
Car 54, Toody and Mauldoon. You got to feel bad for Captain Block.
You're right Captain block he's got the same facial as the head of control on get Smart. They both have to deal with these similar characters.

Just found out Charlotte rae

So nice to just relax and watch this great show!
all star cast always good show fun an funny it's all good.
Fred has a real Dick Van Dyke vibe doesn’t he?
The part where Toody tries to get back Lucille was hilarious! Especially the part where he tries to explain the mushrooms in his pocket. ("You know how things start to sprout!")
Great TV show.
"It's such a nice day, why don't you steal some popcorn and sneak into a movie."
THANKS UPLOADER!!!!!!!!
This is my favorite episode lol.
Awesome! Thank you so much for posting!
My Father and I enjoyed this çomedy when he and I were very young on the backlock!
“You’re wearing the garbage.”
You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille.
Great show
T^V Land would rather show modern crap than stuff like this anymore! Bless you Pippykins.(Metv too.)

Francis looks like he's going to kill Gunther.
in this episode Muldoon tries to make toody feel happy instead of sad and then the rest is awesome
Nipsey Russell in a cameo..
..just got METV here in Port St Lucie a coupke of months ago..
I love that CLASSIC, _"What the FUCK am I doing? "_ moment... 15:28 🤣😅
DO YOU MIND ? DO YOU MIND ?
It is me or does the gypsy's husband remind me of Adam Sandler from "You Don't Mess With The Zohan"
I'm glad this is not Barney Miller.Tony

Wasn't Toody also in that show called "It's about Time" as a cave man?
Most likely, he has the Caveman look.

No, Nipsey Russell/
I really do love this show! But by today's standards this episode would be so racist!
Today’s “standards” have been codified by nitwits and sanctioned by halfwits.

Memory Lane. 🥲
