"Endure and Survive"
Something about seeing Joel laugh is so wholesome
Joel-some
It's a big change to hear a wheezy old chuckle from Pedro instead of his full-out belly laugh that we all know and love. Equally wholesome though!
Exactly, it lighten up my mood every time I watch it..
You laughed motherfucker that little moment of laughing there is faith
Kinda-Joel, More-Pascal
The way she says “you go to sleep” at the end is adorable
It is the same way she tells Joel "you are a weird kid" after he calls her a weird kid for pretending to check into the dilapidated hotel. They added the Ellie "you are a weird kid/you go to sleep" for the show and I thought that was a great, small choice to improve from the game.
This was a great scene the character development is crazy in this episode
3:30 just realized that Joel rolled over in his sleep and that’s why he didn’t hear the crunch
I laughed, I cried. This show is genuinely amazing
I was so damn skeptical of another zombie apocalypse but I heard the game was great then when I learned it was the writer of HBO's Chernobyl I was sold. So far I love it and I'm playing the game too, as well as watching the show.
i think we all did
Such beautiful moment for Joel, his humanity is slowly come out again.
Joel has been a pussy in the show compared to the game
It's what he's truly afraid of though. He kept some emotional distance with Tess because they knew one day they'd lose echother probably violently, and now he has the fear of losing his daughter all over again the closer he gets to Ellie.
I bet they actually couldn't stop laughing but it was so wholesome that they decided to keep it in.
Педро Паскалю не сказали заранее о шутке, поэтому его реакция была такая искренняя.
@@Armand0Natali I don't know any Russian sorry
@@thehopefulyetdoubtful3656 I am bad speak english and not really translated this text. But very love Pedro Pascal.
@@thehopefulyetdoubtful3656is there a button underneath the text that says “translate to English?”
2:12 Joel notices that Ellie sleeps with her knife under her pillow and makes a comment about it a few seconds later. That kinda shit is why he's made it 20 years. If this man could hear he'd be unstoppable.
Good catch. Great detail.
Wow so cool that you noticed this detail, makes so much sense
this is actually a cool detail omg
This episode was amazing the development between them had progressed so much and he's let his guard down by laughing with her at the end but look what happens when he does he fell asleep on the side he can't hear out of and now Henry and Sam be pointing guns at Ellie and Joel damn loved this episode can't wait for Friday
I’m really hoping that means we’ll get more moments like this that we just couldn’t get in the game
@@ThursdaysChild770 I agree they've seemed to take a different direction with a lot of things from the game they have changed so I'm hoping it's not the exact same I don't mind them doing the really important scenes for storywise but I like to see new things like this too :)
@@shadowmarvel0737 this is one of those adaptations that have so much respect for the source material but can still manage to add a tinge of newness to it if that makes sense
Joel: It doesn't get easier when you're older.
Entire fandom: 🤔
True shit, the easy part is being a kid the painful hard part is growing up.
I think he meant that it spoils your youth. Kids should be sheltered and carefree.
The Ellie/Joel dynamic is so perfectly captured. God, every episode is amazing!!!
Whatever mood you are in mood , you can't help but laugh with them 😂such a wholesome scene ❤️
I love the sound of her laughter and it’s so heartwarming to hear Joel laughing too. Sweet scene. ❤❤
What a beautiful scene
This is literally my favorite scene in the whole series so far. It is just so beautiful. This whole episode is just gorgeous in demonstrating Joel and Ellie's relationship and how it's growing, and the joke book is a symbol of exactly that. Also, there is something so beautiful about Ellie, being this kid that Joel wanted nothing to do with at first and equated to cargo, being the reason why he laughs for the first time in 20 years. It is just so beautiful..
My favorite scene in the series for now, really great.
this is the most wholesome moment in the whole series
The joke starts at 2:31!! :]
This feels like an outtake that they just left in because it worked too well
That’s what I thought now that I’m rewatching this, is this a blooper they accidentally left in?
@@Sophie-im2jp Pedro didn't know about the diarrhea joke Ellie was pullin. So you can say it's an actual reaction from "Joel".
Great episode
this made me almost tear up man
Wholesome af
If this show didn't win a Grammy im selling my kidneys
It better get a Tony too.
How tf a show gonna win a Grammy
@@homemadepie91Nah its gonna win the nobel prize
@@manasgrover112 I would be 100% a-okay with Gustavo Santaolalla winning a Grammy! The soundtrack rocked!!
Finally a video game adaptation that not complete trash, I had my doubts but scene like this show how good show is.
joel.exe has started working
Imagine what joel gonna say in Sopranos universe when he see sam and henry
What?
That was funny! Good little moment
That was a pretty crappy joke.
I dunno about crappy but it definitely wasn’t solid
Pretty shitty tbh
I think it came out just right
I can't stop laughing from this comment thread 😂
It's a shit joke you could say
best scene in the whole show
It was sweet, but mind you the show is going different than the game. Joel is starting to really care about and grow fond of this girl and it frightens him (back to what Bill said about how he was never afraid until Frank). Tess was his partner in crime and they likely had sex sometimes but kept emotional distance. While reading the letter from Bill and then later on burying the kid brothers, he is in great fear of losing Ellie.
Did you play the game? Thats the whole point of the first game and exactly why he does what he does at the end.
There is a part of me that hope's that wasn't totally scripted. Something tells me they actually couldn't stop laughing.
Hahaha this was funny
me also laughing 😔❤️
Does anyone know the name of the soundtrack 3:16
3:11
2:30
This seen man
Oh oberyn
This scene makes me have thought that the HBO version is better then the game 😅
I was a bit skeptical when Pedro was cast but he did better then I expected
Hbo finally made a good decision
HBO has been making bangers since before you were born
@@tobiasrieper6640 cool
ok i hate that they milk the hell out of this title now since it's been out for a very long time now but i honestly love how Joel is more cold but also slowly warms up to ellie here instead of the game
I don't feel they have milked it at all
Stuff like this makes me not look forward to part 2.
Isn't Joel opening up a little too fast? I mean, I get character development, but in the game he's a hardened killer who won't hesitate, expresses very little empathy, is in a constant state of anger and denial that he actually gives a damn about anyone or anything, until after he and Ellie have that argument after meeting Tommy. It's only after that where he seems to be okay with allowing himself to feel again, or rather, maybe okay with acknowledging that he actually does care.
Here he seems to be way too sentimental. Feels wrong. I just can't picture Joel in the game acting this way this early into their journey.
Well, in the game that has more than 20 hours of gameplay They can give more time to character but this show just have 9 episode
Yeah but even in the game there’s points of him opening himself to Ellie in small conversations or in bills town, Pittsburgh, and out of Pittsburgh before going to Tommy’s. He isn’t fully committed to being fully open. But he and Ellie are creating a somewhat respectful bond until he opens up to her as an adoptive father figure
I understood they have to sort of speed it up a bit, such as the conversation with the gun, where Joel sort of got a bit too emotional but in context of time I think they have too.
@@maxim5119That’s why I think Part 1 should have been split into 2 seasons. We kinda got shafted on two big actions scenes because they’re rushing things a bit
@@crashbandi-cody6782Studios don’t bank on a show being successful enough to greenlight multiple seasons out the gate. They wait and see if people take to the show first.
Putting money into these shows isn’t cheap.
They not doing everything they did in the game
Good. It can keep you guessing

@@keenandixon8935 if something is portrayed exactly to the source material those who have played the game will know everything that happens and when. It more so compliments the fans of the game as they stay very close to the source material but give you new takes and perspectives that can be a breath of fresh air.
@@gregordrizzlewing7339 yea cuz I played the game before
Half of this look like cgi
See the doctor. You got the eye cancer son
finaly Joel was dead in part Two😭😭😭😭
Another reason TLOU 2 video game sucked, is because Ellie's personality completely changed. She went from being a funny, curious, fun loving kid , to being dark, depressed, and emotionally muted.
first game ellie: 14 years old
second game ellie: 19 years old
it makes sense
more or less. Although this version of ellie is more aggressive than the one in the first game.
I wonder why. It couldn't be because the tragic, brutal traumatizing death of someone she loved dearly, just how Joel experiencing the death of his daughter changed him over twenty years
@@cooliostarstache5474 Her personality was like that at the start of the game, even before Joel got killed.
@@arsenical3369 5 years does not completely change your personality. You become more mature yes, but personality and disposition are pretty much the same.
*Such a better episode than the gay fruitcake episode 3.*
Give it a rest 🙄
You didn’t like the episode Dilyn? I thought you could relate to a gay introvert
If you have a problem with LGBTQ+ representation you might as well stay away from TLOU altogether because as far as I remember the lead is literally a lesbian
@@AlexanderMacAoidh LOL
@@blurrylinesx8039 Nobody really has a problem with it, but a whole 90 minute episode focusing on gay shit was a bit too much.
