House of the Dragon is the Game of Throne's successor show based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, a history of House Targaryen set 300 years before the events in GoT. The showrunners of House of the Dragon are Ryan Condal along with battle-tested GoT veteran Miguel Sapochnik.
Set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series tells the story of a turbulent period for House Targaryen, one that set sibling against sibling and dragon against dragon. The point of contention: who should rule on the Iron Throne, of course.
“If you’d like to know a bit more of what the show will be about… well, I can’t actually spill those beans,” Martin teased in his blog, “but you might want to pick up a copy of two anthologies I did with Gardner Dozois, Dangerous Women, and Rogues and then move on to ArchmaesterGyldayn’s history, Fire & Blood.”
Dangerous Women includes what press materials describe as a “35,000-word novella” by Martin called “The Princess and the Queen, or, the Blacks and the Greens,” which is “about the Dance of the Dragons, the vast civil war that tore Westeros apart nearly two centuries before the events of A Game of Thrones.”
Rogues, meanwhile, includes Martin’s story “The Rogue Prince, or, a King’s Brother,” which chronicles “the early life, adventures, misdeeds, and marriages of Prince Daemon Targaryen,” considered “one of the biggest rogues in the entire history of Ice and Fire.”
Finally, the novel Fire & Blood, released in November 2018, is the first novel of a two-part history of the Targaryens in Westeros.
“Centuries before the events of A Game of Thrones, House Targaryen - the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria - took up residence on Dragonstone,” according to the book’s description on the author’s site. “Fire & Blood begins their tale with the legendary Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and goes on to recount the generations of Targaryens who fought to hold that iconic seat, all the way up to the civil war that nearly tore their dynasty apart.”
House of the Dragon will be about Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war.
About George R.R. Martin’s involvement, we know only what he stated himself. George R.R. Martin stated: "I expect to be involved in [House of the Dragons] to some extent...and, who knows, if things work out, I may even be able to script a few episodes, as I did for the first four seasons of GAME OF THRONES. But... let me make this perfectly clear... I am not taking on any scripts until I have finished and delivered WINDS OF WINTER. Winter is still coming, and WINDS remains my priority, as much as I'd love to write an episode of HOUSE."

'Perhaps he should have sought counsel from his trusted stewards. Then again, maybe he did.' Goes to show the Tyrells cunning nature esp Margaery & Olenna
This is how history lessons should be thaught 🔥
Fr
This is how they Were taught when I was in school HAHA.
How would you know how history lessons are taught at the thousands of primary schools and high schools in the country??? Answer: You don't.
Exactly, Growing up in the 60's and 70's We were Taught like this in Detroit Public Schools Believe it or not, Our Teachers were Great, Especially Mr. Gonder My History teacher in Junior High, He Made war Dioramas and Everything for Us when teaching.@@m.williams4971
Agreed, every history lesson should be shared like one shares a story
Its so soothing to listen to the stories of GoT
House Tyrell is a great house. Wonder which side they will support in House of the Dragon
I haven't read the books but I would think Green just because the Hightowers and Tyrells are probably somewhat close
I think according to the source material, they stayed out of the war.
They didn't chose a side, and becaise Of that they were atacked
They stayed out of the war. Lady Tyrell was a widow and her son lord Lyonel Tyrell was a baby.
@@dylankennedy6020 I think they stay out of it. Im pretty sure a lot of the reach lords dont like the Tyrells because they all feel as if they should have inherited Highgarden from the Gardeners
I was surprised to hear that Mace defeated Robert at Ashford, the show always portrayed him as weak
Homophobia.
@@EricMcCurrySharonGodwinSlayer ???
@@georgesongwe267 Mace was a sissy and half gai man. Hence the homophobia. It must be stricken down wherever we find it. Smash homophobia in all its forms !
It's mentioned somewhere that the main reason Mace won that battle is because Randyll Tarly was leading his vanguard and he was an incredibly talented tactician/leader. And then Mace doesn't listen to his advice about chasing Robert down, and instead goes to siege Storm's End.
@@georgesongwe267thats because Mace really is a slightly obese fool with no experience in combat apart from tourneys
The Tarlys where the winning factor at Ashford
I wish they’d do a prequel season or a movie that covers the first long night when there was so much more fun stuff happening.
Yeah I'm not very interested in the Targaryens. But I guess the people want dragons more than the truly fascinating stuff.
@@peepindis eh, then they should do a prequel that ends with the doom of Valyria when there were many houses who who were dragon tamers and the Targaryens were just a minor house.
the thumbnail is from White Queen. i thought there will be a comparison between the House of TYREL AND THE HOUSE OF YORK because I saw Edward IV and Richard III.
Same
more videos like these pls
The white Queen cast in thumbnail 😂😂
I love white Queen, Elizabeth & princess Elizabeth
love it
The thumbnail from the White Queen is pretty funny.
cant wait for the nex season
Oversaturation is a Surefire way to make anything suck
do we have release date?
You would think given that it’s always a some bugger from the reach - Hightowers during DoD and Tyrells in the main series - that messes up the realm, kings would be more wary about giving them too much power in court.
How did they mess up the realm in the main series?
@@TreyMoss-jz9kjliterally. Lol
The Tyrells were the best choice in GoT. Sounds like a Lannister fan
Um, how do you figure the Tyrell's "messed up" the realm(?), and on the same scale as the Hightowers??? Not even close. They supported a guy whom I don't think should have been king, Renly, nonetheless, had he become king, he would have been the best outcome for peace. The Lannisters are clearly the equivalent of the Hightowers 'jacking-up' the kingdom(down to the daughter who weasels her way into a marriage with the king, then sets out on her own agenda). That's about as obvious as obvious can be!
@@m.williams4971 Firstly, Rhaenyra being a woman in a time where women were expected to keep their head down and have children and then keep their heads down again. You would expect her to have some wits about her - enough to not have 3 illegitimate children. Granted I’m not sure that would’ve prevented the DoDs but it didn’t help. Secondly, the Hightowers had a sufficient claim to the throne via Aegon - him being Visery I oldest male child. If anything I blame Viserys more for not disinheriting Rhaenyra and allowing his court to split into two factions while he idled about dying from whatever he was dying from. Sounds sexist af but since the GoT universe is based on Medival England, the idea of letting a woman climb the Iron Throne was a recipe for civil war. Viserys knew this deep down but his indecisive and weak nature prevented him from doing the right thing and disinheriting Rhaenyra for the good of the realm. It would be one thing if Rhaenyra was actually good at being a ruler but by every imaginable metric, she was mediocre and even bordering terrible. That being said, I have more sympathy for the Hightowers than the Tyrells. Don’t get me wrong, Otto and Allicent are definitely not saints but they at least had some coherent and legitimate plan on how to gain power.
Firstly, the Tyrells had no legitimate claim whatsoever through Renly. Secondly, the instant Renly got killed they moved to support Joffrey despite them earlier claiming Joffrey was illegitimate. But that’s the game, fair enough. The problem is the moment they got power in court they schemed in a way that was pretty dumb and lacked foresight whatsoever. Their plans often had no backup and were overly complicated and the realm suffered because of it. They did the realm a solid by axing Joffrey but other than that they brought more chaos than anything else. So I definitely prefer the Hightowers.
@@flolikeyou6053 I admit I have quite a bit of bias for Tywin. He’s ruthless and cruel but the other options are Renly, Stannis and Olenna. Perhaps Olenna would be better? But Tywin has a proven track record as hand under Aerys of actually being able to rule. The realm prospered when Tywin was hand. In a crappy world of dying of dysentery at 30, Tywin seems to be the best option at least in my opinion.
House Start DID NOT fall to the Targaryens! Torrhen Stark bent the knee, same as the Tyrells!
Fall, bent the knee, same thing. Difference is how many who die in the process.
The picture is from, The White Queen, another show entirely.
🔥🔥🔥
Is the voice over the actress who is margery Tyrrell?
💯
Ripping DVD content while using the wrong show in the thumbnail
U really want ppl to use that audible link huh?
Grow Strong
why are you using thumb nails from the White Queen?
is this the real actress who played margery tyrell voicing this? wondor how much she got paid for this lol
Is House Hightower stronger than House Tyrell in HotD?
Hightower is a vassal house of Tyrell. That being said, Hightower has more influence over maesters, the iron bank, etc in a way that may make them the real powerhouse of the Reach
They’re probably almost same in strength with Tyrell edging out a bit.
FAB IS BACK FOMOS
Is this Natalie Dormer?
Yes
😮
They’re bringing back the extinct House of Tyrell!
Read the title: "Prequel", meaning a time before.

JRR Martin while i like his game of thrones series, this series is completely unoriginal the guy ripped off english history and the silmarillion he basically combined the two into a story of its own, For that i say this man is not very original. Guess thats why very very few people can say much about his other works because they arent very good.
He may have been inspired by it but it is not the same story
Did Martin finish the series finally?
