- Buckle up, grab a libation, and settle in for systems. We're back to talking about KW switches and functions. It's been more than a year since the last systems deep-dives. I started the vid with a disclaimer; "This'll be short". I failed.
Diving in to the left-seat switchology, covering comms, MMS, and laser control functions. No power-on walk-thru yet.
If you're looking for a quick and dirty "walk-thru", this ain't it. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I have no idea why these things end up being around an hour. I just start talking. It's not planned.
And that's exactly what we love.. you talking about stuff in great detail without any plan to speed it up.
bruh, stop stopping and it won't stop at an hour.
I'm glad it happens this way. With Wags' short introduction videos I often find myself with more questions than I had before watching the video. With your videos I find myself with a lot more answers to questions that I would have never thought about before!
That's why we watch it. We love all that info. :-) Great job.
The more you explain us the easier it become, you have talent teaching people! its rare. i'm excited for the helo but they wont give us updates.
Apache smache, Kiowa is where its at. Look forward to this very much. Your Classes will be irreplaceable and thank you for taking the time.
”It’s not the machine, it’s the mission” or something like that.
I wait for this cool 😎 aircraft of awsomeness
This was sorely needed, to help calm those who are eagerly awaiting for this helo.
Wohoo, there we go again! Cheers Barundus
Thank you for providing an update. This module Is looking amazing.
Sad to hear that its still much to do to finish the module.
Thank you for sharing this videos in the meantime Barundus
I can't wait! Kiowa is awesome!!!
Nicely done Sir. I learned a few things that I will never remember. Keep them coming B!
Luckily you have direct access to two of your very own personal 58D gurus...
Finally a new video!!
This has to be a good sign!
1y ago, we thought it's really close, it's gonna come out soon(tm).. :/ #gibkiowa
you guys really need to release this. I personally would prefer early access for the module and learn what is done and then new features as they come along
very excited to eventually do kiowa / apache combined operations. very cool bird. :) hopefully 2021? :)
Pumped!
I really hope you do some of these videos for The Apache if able?
Will we be able to set different key assignments for which seat we are in? I.E. make the cyclic buttons correspond more to which seat your riding in?
Cant wait to see the chatter on the PC sight after this
Do we know when this will be done
HYPE-TRIAN GAINING MOMENTUM......!
3rd times the charm?
This is probably stupid question, but...if observer is making inputs on cyclic controls (like pushing buttons, switches and stuff), isn't it a little confusing for the pilot? Is it possible to control all these things without slightly interfering with the cyclic inputs from the pilot? Thank You.
Dunno if you follow the LLH Discord. You should!
I'll answer your question with a similar question and response from our Discord forum:
@barundus In your latest KW video, you referenced the multiple MMS controls that are on the cyclic stick for the left-seater. I was surprised to see that many controls on the flight controls for someone not actively flying the aircraft. How did this work in real life? Does the left-seater have to learn a very light touch so they don't interfere with the right-seater's control of the aircraft? Or were the controls heavy enough that the right-seater was never really affected by the button pressing of the left-seater?
Great video and walk through of the KW left seat.(edited)

First: functionally there is no difference in control between the left and right. Both are equally able to control the helicopter in flight. Both pilots are equally rated.
Originally, there was (still is) provision to "lock-out" the left seat cyclic. There's a latch at the bottom, which de-couples it entirely, and another to fix it in place.
After a few accidents resulting from improper transfer of the controls (many, many years ago), in which the CPO forgot his cyclic was locked-out, and the controls were transferred and the crew didn't figure it out in time and crashed, the Army decided it was henceforth verboten to lock-out the left seat cyclic.
To the second question; yes, the CPO had to learn to "monkey screw" the MMS controls while the cyclic was moving around. At a hover, this is not a problem. In flight, it's a bit awkward. And yes; the right-seat could feel the caveman left-seater on the controls.
I should've thought to mention this in the vid. Would've made for another cool ten-minutes of rambling!
@@Barundus Hi. Thank You very much for taking time to reply. Unfortunately I don't follow LLH on Discord, but from now on I will. As always,...very interesting it really works this way. But still better to have awkward feeling, than having accidents. :-) Thank You very much.
😃👍
still not long enough
LoL. You must have masochistic tendencies.
Is there a second video coming as stated near the end?
Yes, have no fear. There'll be plenty more.
Looks like we are never going to get it.
Not with that attitude!
@@Barundus fair point
@@Barundus I've got a much better attitude as I have an internal AOA indicator. Still working on this? Looks incredible from videos I've seen 2 years ago.... looking forward to EA
