In theaters July 19th.
Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, "The Conjuring" tells the horrifying tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives. - Zábava

@@BlackRose-vi2yg There’s literal proof that most, if not all, horror movies are based on true stories.
@@BlackRose-vi2yg also its based which means if the characters have the same name in the movie as in real life its "based on a true story".
Everytime you see a horror movie which says ''Based on a true story'' it makes the movie twice as scary.
Agreed

Dude, Jesus is the only thing you got against this crap. Most of this movie is fake, but there are demons out there. And Jesus is the only defense you have.
The second I saw the "based on a true story" text, my heart legit stopped for about 5 seconds and my eyes were so wide they looked like they were popping out of my eye sockets
The Conjuring is the mothership of all Horror movies.. Outstanding performance by all depts like screenplay, directions, acting etc..

Shit wasn't scary at all it was retarded imo.
ay vro it’s scary. When the kid got her leg pulled when she was trying to sleep. I can relate to that. I’ve felt someone pull my leg in my sleep and I literally moved. Woke me tf up. I would never forget that day.
Hereditary too
Conjuring is scary and great but i think you haven't seen Hereditary...!!!
I saw The Conjuring 8 years ago on the big screen. It’s the only movie that has ever made me cry out of genuine fear. It stuck with me for months, years actually. I still lift my legs up at night in bed (if you’ve seen the film you know which scene I’m talking about). When I love a horror movie, I can usually watch it over and over. Not this one. I decided to watch it again this month for the first time since 2013. It was just as terrifying. I’ve officially put this movie to rest. Thank you James Wan for this masterpiece. 10/10 👏
Can you suggest some more horror movies ?? I've just started watching them and have came across this one. Can't wait to see it.

@@havensgonecyber well that's why -- because it's part of a tradition for you. :) also, i think depending on if you're young enough, movies don't really have that traumatizing factor yet. worthy to note too is that it came out around the time of super gimmicky "horror" movies (like paranormal activity), so it stands out in people's memory
If you ever feel terrified, say a St. Michael the Archangel prayer. Having a rosary is also nice. Ed & Lorraine are Catholic in real life as well after all.

I'm glad I read the comments. I was going to watch this but I'll never watch a movie that uses or hurts any animals to get a body count up or for fodder.
Merrida100 It doesn’t.
Merrida100 I absolutely cannot watch movies with animals in them because I know they’re either gonna get hurt or die :( however the scene in the movie isn’t nearly as bad as I’ve seen before. The following is a true story and what happened was witnessed by myself, my sister and a friend of ours when we were watching the film. The occurrence is connected to the music box seen in this trailer which, according to the film, showed the spirit of a deceased boy that was allegedly killed in the house and which consequently ended up in the Warren museum. Anyway, we were watching the film about three years ago late one night in complete darkness, completely immersed in it, when the final credits rolled. It was right at that moment, following the final scene showing the music box in the museum, that the Mozartkugel music box on my wardrobe started playing Eine kleine nacht musik all on its own for 3 seconds. I distinctly remember the cold sweat and my sister's pale face when we looked at each other in utter terror. Our friend wasn't aware that we had such a music box in the room, so she was puzzled by the melody at first, thinking that it was added to the end credits, but soon realized that what she had heard wasn't a part of the film. What happened coincided with my, at the time, extreme interest in stories of hauntings, possessions, demons and similar phenomena, and which might be, in a way, related to that night. I still feel uneasy talking about it, whereas my sister simply avoids the topic altogether. Nevertheless both my sister and our friend can attest to the story being 100% true.
Hope you are doing good. Anything else happened like this again?.

People said this movie was amazing and very
scary. So I saw it yesterday. And I have to admit - they were right. Many horror films have jumpscares that gets the scare job done, but they're not good because of that. This movie did'nt just make me jump, but it
made me feel terrified. It's like a new and better version of The Exorcist. Amazing movie! THIS is how all horror films should be like! 10/10. If you haven't watched it, and you have the balls to do it, then watch it NOW! Possibly the best horror movie ever made.

Just one thing... if ALL horror movies were like one movie, they'd all feel the same and lose their value. In my eyes, the bad B-movie horror movies exist to make the good horror movies look even better. But yeah, there are some good examples of recent remakes that show exactly what NOT to do with a horror movie.
With that being said, I may check out this movie at some point. It's been a very long time since a horror movie has terrified me. The only reactions I get are cringy ones when organs are shown, or a knife is slowly pulled out or something along the lines of that, and even that got old.
I think we cannot dismiss the people who say they have witnessed supernatural events.

Totally agree.... The ending had relevance to the loving relationship of the family members.
After I watched this film, I was praying the whole night. It scared the hell out of me.
Don't pray after watching, it makes them angry
+Qliphotic who's them? what do you mean?
These are beings who live forever, and were around before the first light in the universe. Beings of deep brooding knowledge and power. The ancients called them spirits, and welcomed them, and had healthy relationships with them. They were the original Gods of men. Their mutual relationship with them solidified their position in this world. And in return they gave us knowledge. Civilizations built huge monuments, not as a duty, but out of respect. But Christianity came and turned it on its head. Lucifer the light bearer, the God of knowledge, became an icon for grey human evil. Christians spread fear of them, undermined them and portrayed them as evil. For 2000 years they have been mistreated and abused. Everyone has an ingrained irrational fear of them now. They need to feed on our faith in their existence. That is the true meaning of faith. That is how they survive. They live in the astral plane, the plane of thoughts and ideas. Though our mundane intelligence couldn't comprehend what it is in its complexity. But for them to exist here, there needs to be faith in them. It is their food. Now, because of Christianity, there is only fear of them. And it is what they feed off. Unless you can unlearn your irrational fear of them, if one happens across you, it will make you scared. Hopefully, it isn't too hungry. Pray to the religion that has undermine and insulted them for 2000 years, while in their presence, and they might just eat you alive. And you are in their presence now. Watching these kinds of movies, that is taking them serious. Giving them power. They will be around you living off that power. Hope that helps
Give me some credit

I know it's a great horror movie . The only thing that scares me about this is that it's based on a true story...
eh, i was disappointed by it. you should watch the blair witch project, that’ll scare the shit out of you.
+spellcaster agreed, but I was still disappointed. Not to say that I was not scared, and I can say that I did scream once when those damn pictures fell off the wall, but it just felt a little lame. All of the horror movies now are basically copies of each other, and it gets quite boring. The newest Annabelle was almost the same thing as The Conjuring, and my friend and I were laughing at it, not screaming. To be honest, I'm not sure that's the target of the movie. And, I don't really get why it is marked a 15, as we (my friend and I) are 13 and 14, and were wetting ourselves with laughter most of the time.
My rant is over, and I apologise in advance if this offends you in any immediate way.

And 3) who the holy heck would buy the house?
Not always that easy
it doesnt work that way. its not that easy. For one, the entity likely would attach itself to the family, and two, who in the right mind would want to buy that damn house?

This film is one of my guilty pleasures, the amount of people I have seen to just say its like any other horror film is huge. I love this film, I've seen it like 190 times and it still freaks me out. Especially that bit when Lorraine falls through the floor and ends up in the basement. Fantastic film
This is by far the best movie in the Conjuring, Annabel, and the nun and never the less all the others. It’s scarier and more haunting.

I haven't seen this movie yet, but I can't help but feel skeptical whenever I see someone comment that they "laughed" at a horror movie. Why is it that whenever someone says a movie isn't scary, they automatically label it as "funny"? I've seen tons of horror movies that didn't scare me, yet none of them made me laugh either. Laughter is a common reaction for something that creeps you out when you don't want to admit it. Some might say, "well it was just fake, and therefore funny." When I see a badly made film, I'm disgusted, not amused.
Scary movie for example or scream people can be scared more ten other and want to act cool saying that its not scary lol

+mplsmn I'm one of those that finds "scary" movies today laughable. See I'm a skeptic when it comes to the paranormal. I don't see any compelling, irrefutable, solid evidence for anything paranormal. So right away, the idea of witches or demons, whatever the fuck, it just funny. Just the idea that I'm supposed to be scared by an old lady that jumps around. The fact people genuinely are scared and actually believe these are real life occurrences. That too me is funny. If you believe in the paranormal or are religious then Hollywood exploits that perfectly. For skeptics like me, they are funny piles of shit.
Watch it ! U won’t laugh !
This movie literally made me feel sick with fear the first time I watched it
I'll never forget the time when I first watched this with my friends, I was about to go home (just walking) alone and I saw a crow above flying. I was too scared lol, my nose bled.
this movie is in my top five best horror films, this movie kept me on the edge of my seat

Piko 786

mrprojoe1 can u tell me ur top 5 ?plz
What others do you recommend
This movie never stops scaring me no matter how many times I watch it.
Omg same !!!
It’s not scary in my opinion. I just like them.
@@Nonamelol. how tf u do not find it scary tho? If that happens to you I’m pretty sure u will be scared 👀👀
@@annabellewollis4432 That’s different. The movie is in fact very entertaining, however it’s not scary. A truly scary movie would be Hereditary, The Babadook, or Midsommar. The horror of The Conjuring franchise is partially subject to their cheap Jumpscares. Jumpscares are nothing but a waste of tension. Watch Hereditary, watch Midsommar. Those movies will disturb you, they don’t use jumpscares, they’re just truly disturbing movies.
I just want to emphasize about what I said earlier, I love The Conjuring franchise, the movies are really entertaining and enjoyable, however that doesn’t mean they’re scary. To put it simply, they’re well-made and well-directed. It just lacks the fundamental blocks of a truly horror movie (subjectively-speaking).
@@Nonamelol. I saw Babadook and Hereditary…. Yea Hereditary was scary tbh but idk the first conjuring gives me those chills since the Intro I guess bec of the story, but everyone different and that’s ok
That moment when you are watching a horror movie by yourself and something makes a slight sound it’s just- *goosebumps*
BRO 11 YEARS AGO?
The last horror movie I watched that actually gave me chills and scared me few times. I recommend this movie to everyone.
Am i the only one who judges movies by the fonts they use in the ads?
Yes
yes
very much so
+Taylor the Tailor Yes
really?
Take it from someone who has watched MANY horror films, and would even call himself a connoisseur… this is one of, if not THE most scary films you will find currently. The acting, the look of the film, the sounds, everything just creates pure dread right when they want it to. Anyone who replies to this is free to say “not scary at all”, ONLY if you provide a film that you think is scarier. Thank you, that is all.
What other horror movies would you recommend? TBH I am out of films to watch at this point. I've seen all movies of the conjuring universe, insidious films, the woman in black, the ring etc and liked those. I liked conjuring 1 and 2 particularly, your typical haunted house type movies with a good story. Old movies like The Exorcist just didn't click with me, maybe because I was born in the 90s.
been 10 years already damn, this movies is hands down the best horror movie of all time, the sequels arent near this, i hope the upcoming movies are!
100% agreed
This is a true horror movie. Instead of jumpscares it uses a terrifying story to hook and scare you. Acting is superb and highly recommended.
Huh? There was like 5 jump scares in this trailer alone..
I haven't seen this film, the trailer was all jumpscares lol. Not sure If I want to even see this, doesn't seem very interesting
Couldn't have said it better. Highly recommended too. The fact that's it's based off a true story makes it Better. Honestly don't know if 2 will be as good
It actually has a few jump scares throughout the film
@@ManectricReturnsthen watch the whole movie you will be terrified for months
My favorite movie ever super entertainment 🔥 in this category 💓
@Digby Dooright how was it? Should I watch it? Was it too scary?
@Digby Dooright okay, I’m gonna watch it I guess
@@anonymousperson5222 It's VERY scary. I couldn't even watch some of it. My boyfriend laughed through the whole thing though, lol.
@@anonymousperson5222 This was in fact, not scary. Ed and Lorraine Warren were known to be exploitive of the families they 'helped.' This was said by another investigator that worked with them on one of their cases. Regardless of that fact, the movie itself has a bunch of startling moments. I don't consider that horror. Any third rate budget film can do that.
@@themoongoddess1190 it was very scary, but I love scary movies. I guess I’m gonna be watching the conjuring universe movie over spring break
This is one of the best horror movie ever made period.
I've watched this movie so many times I've lost count by now, big fan of the whole franchise and James Wan's work. I know horror movies are meant mainly to draw out fear, but mr. Wan has found the key to the genre, making each movie sentimental, spiritual and full of respect. One thing I can say for sure, as a believer; you best experience these movies when you're religious. Not saying non-religious people don't, but when you do rely on faith, these movies become absolute bliss to watch.
Even after all these years, this movie still creeps me out just as much as the first time I watched it. Perfectly cast as well. That part where the mom gets pushed down the basement stairs and the claps behind her in the dark gets me every single time 😳🫣
its only 10 years. "all these years" dont aply
This right here, is how you do horror
I'll bet you 2 million dollars this shit isn't actually based on a true story
Kankri. i bet 4 million dollars you aint got 2 million bitch nigga

I absolutely loved this movie. A traditional, old fashioned ghost story.
I swear The Conjuring Universe is the best horror films of all I mean they gather all of the amazing actors directors and all of the person behind these movies all and the excitement of its true stories
Its not scary cause

@alucard alucardidis Why would it bother you, Karen?
Part of the trailer: “Look what you made me do”
Me: OH LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO LOOK WHAT YOU JUST MADE ME DO 😂
Whenever you feel lonely, Watch this movie and you won't be alone anymore!

Just came back for memories since I’m about to watching conjuring 3! I remember I was just 10 when the first conjuring came out and now I’m 18, I love these movies and the real stories behind them sm they’re so interesting
After watching this movie i literally didn't sleep that night gosh 10/10
After reading some of the below comments I am about to watch this movie alone tonight. I will give my honest opinion if it scared me as soon as it is over.
Was pretty good! The part when the exorcist was happening and the father was not searching for April, his missing daughter, was silly (he would have been looking for her). The end of the movie made me feel like the power of that witch was not so easily banished as by just saying her name though...like the witch would still be there and the curse on her land. Overall, it was scarey...but not scarey enough to make me worry when I walk out into my dark front room right now.
I watched it this morning on the web already! Don't believe me? I really don't care. I took an entire afternoon to search the net and discovered this web site where they securely stream movies on the web at no cost. They got all the hottest hits, such as this particular one. This is actually the website link to find out more about it... *WatchTheseNow . com*
If you are done seeing the movie trailer above and you want to see the entire movie you can do it online. I was so excited to locate this website I thought I needed to return and share the link with everyone who is looking over the movie trailer to what might be one of the greatest movies this season. This is the link for the web-site... *WatchTheseNow . com*

Yep! Think about it...YOUR daughter is missing, would u be like 'oh well let the Asian guy go search for her...he will do fine...", or would u go find her? I would have to find her first, THEN help the mom lol.
Hands down. This is the best horror movie of all time. Never bores the hell outta you.
I can't believe it has been a decade when i watched this, back when i was 20 yrs old and now i'm 30. One of the best horror movies of 2013, no doubt.
*Happy 10th Anniversary, The First Conjuring*
Without a doubt, the greatest movie of The Conjuring series.
