    Hello friends,
    Jeremy here. Here's a hands on look at the vintage Leica 35mm Pre ASPH summilux v2. This lens uses the clip on 12 504 hood which takes Series VII or 49mm filters in it.
    The black and white pictures featured in this video were shot on Ilford HP5 pushed 2 stops, and Fomapan 400, developed in Ilfotec HC on a rotary processor.
    I use colour films as well, a few being Kodak portra 160, 400, 800, Color plus, Ultramax and Gold, Fujifilm PRO160NS and PRO400H.
    If you're looking for a vintage Leica lens, this is definitely one to consider. If you love film photography too, join me here on this channel!
    Peace,
    Jeremy-T aka JeremyT aka JeremyTphotography

    I bought this lens in 1984 with an M6. My films of choice were Kodachrome 25 and Tri-X. Generally I stop down at least to f/4 because I prefer optical sharpness. Today I attach the lens to an M10. Watching your videos and those by Steven Tanno in Japan I find myself back out snapping away with this little beauty and enjoying it all over again!
    Thank you

    I have the German made titanium version of this lens which is being used on my M9, M10P, M10M, and SL2. Its performance @ f/1.4 shows flare not found in modern lenses, not even the reissued steel rim that I had bought recently. The other lens that has this feature at wide opened aperture is the 35 mm Summicron 8 Element lens.

      Interesting! If you ever get a hands on a Canadian pre-ASPH, please let me know how the differences feel :)

    Hey Jeremy! I bought this recently due to heavy inspiration from you :)
    There's a couple of weird little quirks with the one I got.
    1. The front element seems a bit loose, the entire element can bobble up and down. It doesn't seem to impact the focusing, trying it on a digital M with live view the focal plane is spot on
    2. The plate on the front of the lens that reads Leiz Canada, Serial Code, 35 / 1.4 Summilux along with the piece of glass can freely rotate.
    Curious if you had any issues like this with yours? Both don't impact the use, but it definitely feels like it could use a CLA.

      Hey!! What an awesome lens! Yes they tend to get loose over time, especially if they've been used for decades without a fix up.. A CLA should get it back and running smoothly :)

    I’m sure you are still enjoying your Summilux. Question; I have a Leitz series 7 filter set - yellow/orange/UV/polarizer - but would like a strong ND filter. Have you found a size and brand that fits in the hood?

    I'd love to hear your thought on the leica thread mount 5cm f2 series.

    Do you use the hood and filter religiously with this lens? I normally use protective filters and no hood, but I can’t have both with this lens lol. Any issues with the front element and dirt if you don’t use the hood?

    • @jeremy-t
      @jeremy-t  Před 4 měsíci

      Hey! The filter fits into the hood, and yes I always have the filter+hood combo on.. The coatings on these lenses are soft and fragile, so I'd always try to wipe it as little as possible!

    can you use a regular E39 filter?

    • @jeremy-t
      @jeremy-t  Před 5 měsíci

      It has no filter threads, you'll need to put it into the hood. Not all filters will fit into the hood, only slim ones!
