    Beginner question for you Lisa. I understand forms and how it can be used to display information from a table, but do you have a video on how can I make a nice seach page/form/view to get to bring up the record in question? Or do you have to use one of the built in search boxes?

      The best way to search is to use Dataverse search which sits as a global search bar at the top of your app. Video on that coming soon.

    I can create a section with multiple columns, but I can't actually get the form fields to go into multiple columns (they will only live in the first column and spread across the section). Can you demo how to make a multi-column section work?

    Hi Lisa, your videos have helped so much with developing MDA's. I just wanted to know, is there a way of filtering form tabs, based on a record.
    Eg. Red Tab | Blue Tab | Green Tab
    Record = Color Value: Red
    Then from that I just want to see what's on the Red Tab and its columns?
    Many thanks from the UK

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  Před rokem

      Showing or hiding a whole tab based on a selected value can be done but it does require a bit of javascript code, unfortunately it can't be done with low code / out of the box features at this stage.

    Thank you, once more, very for a beginner like me. ...and of course , beginner questions:
    1-Can we decide which field goes top left hand side as kind of Record title ? Apparently it's always the primary key, isn't ? ... in my case it's an idcode, an unique identifier, but meaningless for a user.
    2-Same issue on the lookup field that shows the related primary key and not related meaningful field, ...
    That makes possible questions for your next vid ;-) thkx

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Tristan, thanks for watching, beginner questions always welcome 🙂
      1 - The top left hand title will always be the Primary Name Column, the one that has the schema name of "name" when you create the table. If you're getting an idcode there, you might want to consider using another field for idcode and using the name for whatever you want in that title spot.
      2 - that is a thing that can be configured and definitely a good idea for another video. This might also help - powerapps.microsoft.com/fr-fr/blog/advanced-lookup-experience-in-model-driven-power-apps/

      @@LisaCrosbie Thank you Lisa. I was afraid of that possible answer. ;-) This means I do have to overhaul all my tables. Is there an efficient way to do it because to change the Primary Named column you first must delete the entire table then recreate manually all fields ? Or is there import/export mechanism?

    Hi @Lisa, as always, your tutorials are very clear and informative.
    Can you guide me on how to create a flow such that, when a "form" from a model driven app is submitted, it triggers an email to user?
    In my real scenario, this is the requirement :
    -There is a "Change request" table that has forms/views etc
    -Whenever a new change request form is submitted, it should trigger email via a flow. I am struggling to understand how to define the starting point and configure flow to do this. The dataverse triggers "when a row is added/modified", OR "when an action is performed" dont suit this requirement. Can you please help?

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Vasanth, I will do a video on this. If I understand correctly then “when a new row is added/modified” will be the right trigger to use. Adding a row is what happens when you submit a new change request form.

      @@LisaCrosbie thanks so much. Also I saw another of your video titled "how to trigger approval from a business process flow". That looks like what I may need. However there is another thing iam stuck on.
      I created the Business process flow and the cloud flow Inside my solution, and published the changes inside the soln. However in the existing model driven app, when I click on "changes" (which is meant to be the change request"), I can't see the BPF in that. Is there anything else I need to do, after creating the bpf and flow in the solution? The model driven app already exists and I need to update these changes so that when I click on "changes" sub area of the main app screen, it should reflect this BPF , but it isnt
      So 2 main questions really :
      1) in my initial scenario I mentioned, will I be able to create a flow only via a BPF? Or can I directly call a flow from the change request table, without having to involve a business process flow?
      2) once I create the BPF and flow inside my solution, how do I Incorporate that in the app such that when I click the "changes" sub area in thr group, it shows the BPF and the above changes?

    Thanks Lisa. Great video. However i have a scenario i am trying to solve and disliking the fact that the answer boils down to javascriot. Wondering what your thoughts are in terms of cracking this.
    I want to use the contact table with three main forms. The main forms should however be shown depending upon if its Student contact, teacher contact or service provider contact. Each of the 3 forms would capture different information depending upon who is filling it up. I have done some digging and am hating the fact that all answers lead to java script. I was wondering if power automate could be leveraged?

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  Před 10 měsíci

      I'm afraid you're right, you need a small piece of javascript to do this, and you can't use Power Automate to swtich forms. The closest you can get using low/no code is to use business rules - a single form, rather than 3 forms, and then depending on the contact type chosen, the relevant fields are visible or not visible.

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  Před 9 měsíci

      No, you can't do that, but have a look at the Power Apps grid control, which lets you create a view as an editable grid, and then you can just edit everything inline in that grid. (I haven't done a video yet on that but it's on my list!)

      You can get the current user (and then their manager) using the Office 365 connector in Power Automate, and trigger that from a model-driven app / business process flow. Within the form editor I am able to to paste a view from an external website. Unfortunately I'm only able to insert a direct url. Is there a possibilty to insert an dynamic url based on an entry within a column of the entity? • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  Před rokem

      Is this about recording when you are presenting in teams? The standard meeting recording on stream won’t record your presenter mode. If you want that you’d have to share your PowerPoint in edit mode during the meeting or record your own screen as you present with a screen capture software like Camtasia although I don’t recommend that while presenting in teams because it slows everything down.
