    It is heartbreaking to hear that we have lost him. He was such a wonderful, supportive member of so many different photo groups.
    I am so sorry for his family.

    Just heard the news, a very sad day. Ray you were an inspiration for many of us and a kind voice to listen to in tough times. Your videos truly were a highlight of my day when they hit my sub feed and you will be greatly missed. RIP brother.

    😓 So sad. Rest in peace. I found this channel when I searched around for a review on the Dinghy cruiser and there was this most inspiring tutorial for adults how to skate 🌞. Engaging not only in his kids skating, but giving time answering to comments in such a kind way (remembering that unique conversation with that fearless motorcycling young lady). We will miss you a lot and strength to his wife and children🌺

    I was working on making skateboarding/photography video to share dedicated to Aloy because his post for adults was a major reason I felt compelled to pick up a skateboard again. Then I saw the news today. His videos were always light hearted and helpful. I wish I had a chance to give him more praise while he could hear it. My thoughts go out to any family and friends that might be reading. I will miss seeing his uploads and I know many more people will also.

    I found this channel while searching for videos to learn to skateboard. I was 41, and was looking for some help for an older person just learning. You helped me with that. I've been skating for a little over a year now and i love it. I experience so much joy. You taught me some fundamentals that i still use and will be forever grateful. I come back and watch those videos occasionally, even though I've watched them many times over. I'm sad you are gone, i hope your family is well and i want to thank you for helping me learn something that makes me happy.

    Damn, dude. I was just thinking the other day how I hadn't heard from you for awhile and thought you were too busy for uploads. Found out what happened through Analog Talks IG... thought you were about to get featured only to read you passed. Such a whiplash of emotions. Hope you rest well, Aloy.

    So sad to have heard the news. I would eagerly watch each video as it came out, as he did mine. I will miss his comments and little chats and his excellent quality reviews. I always thought of him as my brother from another mother. May you rest in peace my man, and remember, no matter what you're doing in heaven... as always, keep it real.

    Very much looking forward to it. For my upcoming large format adventures on a budget this will need to be the way I'll go. A specifically helpful topic would be which paper surfaces scan best (glossy, pearl, mat, ...)

    • @Raychristofer
      @Raychristofer  Před 3 lety +2

      Hello Olaf how are you? I've actually used both and right now I'm using gloss. I like the gloss and I think it's slightly sharper because the surface of the paper is smooth with no texture. I was afraid I would get reflections from the scanner but I haven't. The two types of paper are so close it kind of doesn't matter though. Definitely give you can develop them and fix it in under three minutes it's almost like making Polaroid negatives just a lot cheaper

    • @olafwDE
      @olafwDE Před 3 lety +1

      @@Raychristofer yeah, the velocity is the beauty of this process. With a few nifty tricks one could even perform it in the field (except scanning, unless you carry a generator on your back, haha). Thanks for the sneak preview, Aloy.

  • @billyspocketlife
    @billyspocketlife Před 3 lety +1

    This is really interesting and it's gotten me thinking about dividing film paper into strips to fit onto a 120 roll to be shot that way though that would all depend on having a long enough tray to develop in without the strip curling.

    • @Raychristofer
      @Raychristofer  Před 3 lety +2

      Big Billy yes you can do that, I have also, I wound up with two seams so photo six and I think photo eleven had a line through it. The thing I don't like about that is I like to develop each frame one of the times and when it's all on one sheet you can't do that and also you wanted to put very curled sheets that you have to reverse bend to try to make them flatter before scanning so I wound up just cutting it into squares and switching them in a dark bag in between each shot

    Hey Aloy, how is it going? Good to see you again. I have a 120 roll of positive paper from ars imago in my cabinet for two years now, might as well take your trailer as a motivation to finally use it. Looking forward to the main video.

    • @Raychristofer
      @Raychristofer  Před 3 lety +3

      Hello Ava how are you? I hope you left no stone unturned in South America. Yes definitely shooting that roll , it's more advanced because all the fundamentals of exposure you really have to use for example using a reflector or some kind of light to fill in shadows for portraits and shooting in shaded conditions rather than direct sun, I rolled mine onto a 120 roll before but I found I prefer shooting one image at a time and developing it so I can see what adjustments I need to make between each shot. Let me know how it goes

      Hello how are you thank you? Yes I want to write another article for that magazine about shooting paper in large format but it's hard to find the time. I started my CZcams channel about 10 years ago just to goof off and I used my middle name and my brother's middle name put together I didn't know the importance of thinking out a proper channel name for future longevity. I will be changing it at some point though but you're right having two names is a bit awkward

    • @Raychristofer
      @Raychristofer  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello Rex thank you. I've used both but I settled on using the changing bag in between each frame so I can develop it and see if it's perfect or if I have to make any changes for the next shot. Getting good exposure on paper is more tricky and I would hate to have a whole roll that is off

    • @RexBer
      @RexBer Před 3 lety +1

      @@Raychristofer right, the sensitivity if the paper is also quite low compared to modern film, isn't it? I don't wanna spoil your main feature, but the trailer got me interested ;)

    • @Raychristofer
      @Raychristofer  Před 3 lety +2

      @@RexBer Yes its about 6 ISO so indoor portraits wide open are about one second outdoor in shade you can get about 1/30 at f5.6 and bright sun you can hand hold 1/60 so its not terrible.
