Family road trip to the Blue Mountains, NSW ⛰ Free camping, Jenolan Caves & Mount Panorama vlog

Our road trip to the Blue Mountains began from Northern Victoria. We had over 8 hours of driving so we decided to break up the trip with a few stops.
Our first stop was at HMAS Otway in Holbrook, NSW, where there is a decommissioned submarine in the middle of the town. You can walk right up to it, on top of it and it’s free! Our second stop was a quick one at the Dog on the Tuckerbox in Gundagai, NSW. We both remember visiting here as a child but there’s not really much to see there… Our final rest stop for the day was in Cowra where we visited Australia’s World Peace Bell.
We camped on our first night at Touts Lookout which is a free camp on top of a random little hill amongst farmland. We had it all to ourselves and it was a great spot to watch the sunset and sunrise. We didn’t get too much sleep due to being squished in the rooftop tent thanks to our baby son but hey, I think that’s life traveling with kids!
On day two we drove up to Bathurst where we completed a lap (or two) of Mount Panorama. The race track is actually a public road meaning anyone can drive on it when the races aren’t on. It was very cool to see!
We camped that night at The Reef Reserve at Lake Oberon as it was one of the closest free camps near Jenolan Caves that we headed to the next day. It was a beautiful camping area but I’d recommend getting here early to secure yourself a good spot.
Day three we went to Jenolan Caves where we did two tours into Orient Cave and Imperial-Diamond Cave. It didn’t quite go to plan as you’ll see in the video but the caves were seriously incredible!
Off to another free camp this night at Lake Wallace Çamping Area which was HUGE. You could fit soooo many people there and it was so nicely maintained and right by the water. I would highly recommend it and it’s only 40 minutes from Katoomba if you’re heading into the Blue Mountains.
