  • This VW TDI came into the shop today. The owner said that he’s experiencing and oil and and possible wheel bearing noise.
    After looking it over, I discovered that it was indeed leaking oil from the high pressure fuel pump.
    This particular high pressure fuel pump is connected to the cylinder head. Oil runs through to lubricate the internals of the high pressure fuel pump. This is different from the lift pump.
    Here is the link to the repair tutorial video for the high pressure fuel pump:

    He doesn't need a new one. The current one needs a new gasket. That's the difference between a mechanic and a parts fitter.

      At the time, the rebuild kit was on back order. Definitely not a parts fitter lol but that’s the difference between being a mechanic and providing great customer service to get that guy back on the road as soon as possible 👍

    I think I have that oil leak too, can I dismount the high pressure fuel pump and replace the gasket? and also, I can smell fuel but i can't see where it comes. do you have any idea? the engine is a 2.0 TDI 140hp

    How much would it cost to fix a bent tire rod

    • @AlexTheCarDoctor
      @AlexTheCarDoctor  Před 3 lety

      Hey, thanks for watching. It depends on if it’s the inner or outer tie rod... which one is bent or will you be replacing both?

    You ordered to shut the engine off while holding it at high revs, a big no no for TURBO!

      @@AlexTheCarDoctor when turbo is spinning at high revs it gets super hot, therefore you need to idle the engine for awhile before shutting it since the oil from the oil pump is cooling the turbo down

      @@Bakanelli I’m familiar with that if I remember correctly I did not shut it right off after the high rpm run. Good looking out man,a lot of people don’t know that if you are Running turbo cars hard then shut the car off the oil will get cooked causing low oil flow Destroying Turbo

    • @PeqpeK
      @PeqpeK Před rokem

      Alex as a car doctor you should know how that engine works and that TDI PD does not have a high pressure pump but the pressure is created by pushing on the injectors

  • @Larry8156
    @Larry8156 Před 2 lety +1

    that is a vacuum pump not a fuel pump really

  • @jamesyi7947
    @jamesyi7947 Před rokem

    The diagnoses is right, but the solution is not efficient, the leaking is because of the vacuum pump seal failure, even a new vacuum pump gasket will not last long, RTV reinforced vacuum pump gasket is the final solution. BTW, do not need separate the tandem pump from the block, separate from the vacuum pump.
