For future reference: rats & mice HATE peppermint! You can get vermin repellent packs & put them all throughout the truck. Or get peppermint oil & apply it to cotton balls & toss into all the nooks & crannies. Works great!
They also HATE HATE HATE Irish Spring soap. Get a few bars (original scent) and cut in 4 pieces, throw them around the floor of your truck. Majic!

Peppermint and spearmint repel tons of rodents and insects. Great all around protection. Highly recommend as well 👍🏻

Hello mate I'm from the UK and work in pest control, rats have a phobia to new objects it's called neophobia and they also walk around the edge's of property or in your case the vehicle, so try putting the traps down around the edges and not the middle, if you use poison you'll so find it because of the small, peanut butter is a good bait, stay safe mate and god bless 🍻🙏🙏🙏

When you have mice in a vehicle you remove everything and go to the car wash to vacuum and power wash everything out. Rats love wires because they are made of soy insulation.

Been watching your videos for months... but this Rat saga finally got me to sub.. I gota know how this all plays out.
Just a tip, occasionally when you unhook the battery from the terminals it resets the computer ECU and turns off limp.
Remove the battery cables then touch them together to drain all juice from the cpu. In this case though I dont think it will work at all. Major wiring issues from that rat.

@@tjsides1983 Be careful doing that on some of these F-150’s my buddy had some hack mess with his throttle body and I programmed it for him. He was still having memory issues so we disconnected both battery terminals and touched them together to drain his memory from the ecu and it blew his navigation and his body control module. His truck definitely had some issues and I think it had a few water leaks getting the fuse box under the kick panel wet. But he was so pissed that his navigation blew after we did that. We tried reprogramming it with my snap on scanner with no luck. It was that same exact truck as Mav’s . I have done this plenty of times and never had an issue, just that once with that F-150 though and it makes me very skeptical of doing that anymore.
I think his problems go way deeper than that. Can't imagine how much of his wiring harness got chewed on, and that's not something you can just reset
@@carson9403 his battery cables were melting right before he went to mexico and he just replaced the cables and thought its good to go. lol, ive been waiting for a fire or some issue like this🤷♂️. some pretty questionable looking mass of wiring when he opens the hood too.

If the car is stuck in limp mode, unplug the battery wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. That will tell you if wires are actually chewed or not.
A buddy of mine used to work at a car rental place and told me that was what they did before trying any repairs.
I hit a bad patch of road and a light came on (can't recall which one). Everything seemed alright but the light stayed on. He did the battery thing and the light went and no issues. Its worth a shot to try it.

I had a mouse get into my house sometime last year, right after COVID started. I live-caught it, and it kept coming back in. For 6 months I kept doing this, live catch, release outside, see him come back in, until I finally found his point of entry. See, folks were asking me for the longest time why I didnt just kill him or release him far away, and it was because I knew one day this mouse would lead me to his hole, the same hole through which the occasional bee or wasp would get through, as well as a frog once, and in November he did just that. I sealed the hole and haven't seen him inside since. It was a mutually beneficial relationship between he and I. Now I just gotta find out how the fuck he is getting into my race car and get him to stop that as well.
Agree we had a mouse problem and my younger sister didn't want me to kill them but I learned quickly catch and release doesn't work. The mice are masters of the maze Afterall and will find their way back.
Mouse are different from rats though. Rats can be agressive and can spread dangerous diseases. You should kill wild rats. Mice are cut innocent little buggers however.
@@theintunity while I recognize that there are risks with rats, there are also risks with mice; wild deer mice are, as far as I know, THE most common vector for Hantavirus, which is why I couldn't bring myself to keep the mouse I found, especially while a global pandemic was on the rise. Just because they carry disease doesn't mean I feel they deserve to be killed at my hands, and so even if I am upset with the notion, I personally just try to force them back into nature and let it take its toll, even if I fear that it might not be as fruitful of a life as I could provide for them
I think they say you have to take a mouse miles away from the home, or they will just find there way back in. But you seemed to have beat the system and used the mouse to seal the hole lol.

I don't despise rats. It's not their fault they were born rats. I would have captured the rat at night when it's awake. Mav slept through all that. I actually adopted a hamster and he's just like a rat. He wakes up about 9:30PM, then goes until the early AM. Mav slept through all that.

I have a neighbor (the store next door), his Silverado is stuck in the parking lot because a rat chewed up his wiring. His truck is DOA, a new wiring harness is needed. The truck has been sitting in the same spot for the entire YEAR (2019-2021). Can't start, can't move. You're lucky you have a remote start on your fob. Checkpoint soldiers are always trying to hustle you out of your stuff!

We went to Bosnia for a trip and we stayed in our friends' house. Me and my brother got a shared room, and for the first night, we only heard some weird noises coming from the bed. The next night, it was so loud that I couldn't sleep. Then all of a sudden I just hear tiny ass steps on the wood floor, I whip out my flashlight and there was a huge ass rat in the room. The next day, I told that guy and when we left, he removed them. There were about 2 or 3 of them just inside the bed. They probably manifested because he doesn't live in Bosnia anymore, he moved down to Slovenia and comes there only from time to time
I lived in an apartment once that had big ass waterbug roaches. still kind of have ptsd about them after that.

Mav, to ask the question that nobody has yet asked (or maybe they have); How did the rat get *into* the truck?? If there is a hole, you've got to find it AND SEAL IT.
The rat probably got there when Mav left the truck for months, it smelled the rotting food probably and hopped in.
@@pcklubas - That may very well be true. But...**generally** most vehicles (even Fords) are pretty well sealed up and don't have rat-sized holes through which rodents can sneak in. In other words, there's no passageway(s) from the engine compartment to the passenger compartment that would provide access for a hungry rat. (I will agree with you though that Mav's truck probably had an abundance of rotting food and crumbs, considering how much he cooks and eats in that poor truck.
