- Welcome to our comprehensive tutorial on setting up and integrating InfluxDB, Grafana, and Home Assistant. This video will guide you through each step, ensuring you have a seamless experience.
*Introduction*
A brief overview of what will be covered in this tutorial.
*Installation and Configuration of InfluxDB*
We start by installing InfluxDB, a powerful time-series database. We'll walk you through the installation process and show you how to configure it for optimal performance.
*Installation and Configuration of Grafana*
Next, we install Grafana, a popular open-source platform for visualizing metrics. We'll guide you through its installation and help you set it up.
*Linking InfluxDB and Home Assistant*
Now that we have both InfluxDB and Grafana set up, we'll show you how to link InfluxDB with Home Assistant. This will allow Home Assistant to store its data in InfluxDB.
*Linking InfluxDB with Grafana*
We'll then connect InfluxDB with Grafana. This will allow Grafana to access the data stored in InfluxDB, enabling us to create beautiful and informative dashboards.
*Building Dashboards within Grafana*
Finally, we'll show you how to build dashboards within Grafana. We'll create a few example dashboards based on the data from Home Assistant, giving you a clear idea of the process.
*Conclusion*
We wrap up the tutorial and discuss what we've covered. We'll also provide some additional resources for further learning.

Very nice clear step by step setup. Thanks
Thanks heaps. 😊👍
This is the video ive been looking for starting learn about HA db. I just using default HA db since the begining and its time to step to the next level db 😂
Thanks so much! Please made another video about the grafana
Glad I could help. Its a great db, and if you know SQL its all just makes sense :)
OK I'll see what I can do about Grafana, its an even larger topic as there is so many permutations.
SHA - I am so glad that you are out there for us to learn from. I found InfluxDB and Grafana from another youtuber but when I found your description and installation instructions I decided to give it a try. I am at &:55 right now and I am going to let the database get some data before moving on, but everything looks great. I like the fact that I can coordinate sensors in a graph by time. I want to measure several temperatures and events and plot them together to give my HVAC tech to make sure my system is functioning correctly. I am a retired computer programmer, but this has been such a great instruction got it working. Now after I have data over 12 hours I will see what I can do. I have a Davis Weather Station and have an integration on it so I want to see what I can do. Thank You very much. I am running a Home Assistant Yellow with an 968 gig SSD on it. I think I should have plenty of room for a while. Thank you again and keep the videos coming you do a great job.
Thanks Raymond, thats a great story and I do this for the feedback and helping others.
Enjoy your new data and the many hours of great graphing you have ahead of you. :)
Love the way you explain tiny details too
You’re doing a great job 😊
Thank you so much 😀
It takes abit more time to do it this way, but I hate finding a video that skips over important steps, so I'm going to carry on doing it this way.
Hi Thanks for the videos... Where's the yaml script for infuxdb Setup at 05:01
??
Hey thanks for letting me know....I inserted the code into the description, but also below:
influxdb:
host: 192.168.1.4
port: 8086
database: homeassistant
username: smarthomeaustralia
password: pleasesubscribe
max_retries: 3
default_measurement: state
My db is only 6 gb after 5 years running.
Thanks for letting us know, I'm new to Influx but have 100 sensors+ running and was unsure how the DB would grow. How many sensors are you recording against?
@@smart_home_australia Over 200+ i think, not sure.
Wow... next level !! You must have shares in Panasonic Batteries :)
@@smart_home_australia ZigBee sensors run for a very long time on batteries.
