This is so bizarre, getting two Superman actors in a row to voice Sephiroth of all characters
I guess Square Enix likes Superman?
@@Utterlyrandomguy I mean, they sure like their sci-fi. Not only do they represent Star Wars with Eraqus, but they did Star Trek, Blade Runner, and Back to the Future all with Xehanort (under less than ideal circumstances, but I digress).
What if Henry Cavill is next?
By this point, I feel like it's mandatory for them to have played Superman prior.
Watch Henry cavil play him when we get a live action film of ff7. Although now that I think about it that sounds pretty awesome
George sets the tone but Tyler follows his example nicely. Lance sounds ridiculous 😂
True
Lance makes him sound weak in my opinion, I love George in Advent Children but Tyler's performance on VII Remake was amazing.

Yes, yes and yes. At least the average people with a good ear can _hear_ what Tyler Hoechlin is saying, unlike Lance Bass ("Sin Harvest" from the _official strategy guide,_ anyone?)

George's voice has more superiority tone, which suits Sephiroth when he's still a Soldier, a strong, but lonely human.
Tyler's voice is more creepy, which suits Sephiroth after he "died", fused with Lifestream, and kinda become a ghost who keeps haunting Cloud.
My thoughts exactly. I may be in the minority but I prefer creepy specter, boogeyman Sephiroth more than unhinged Super-soldier Sephiroth, though both are great.
You can't even hear Tyler's Sephiroth lol
Lance did his best
Good insight
I like Hoechlin’s performance it sounds younger and more expressive and actually more mysterious. It is a little weird because this Sephiroth is speculated to be the one from Advent Children, but this one sounds younger and more aspirational.
Tyler has the "creepy" vibes perfectly nailed for Sephiroth.
I actually prefer Tyler's because of that....because Seph is rather creepy.
Don't be dumb
Idiot. George is way better
@@Killer_Kris7 don't be dumb yourself.

bro is so mad he came back a year later to reply to you again lmao
You can hear the hostility in George’s voice, and the mystery in Tyler’s. Like Tyler’s Sephiroth knows something you don’t. Love both of them, nailed it 💯
Lance Bass sounds cool when you're fighting him but he sounds terrible when his voice is isolated.
Tyler’s voice slowly got better during the progression of the remake. Any1 else notice this?
I think that's likely due to him being in the booth for hours on end. I think the longer an actor is in character, the more in touch they are with them.
@@appl3s0ft that’s what I’m assuming but I’m not sure if voice acting plays scenes out in order? Cause regular film acting sure doesn’t

George Newbern is on another level.
Such a clear voice.
Lance is a no no but george and Tyler do great jobs with what they’re given
George has an anime dub vibe, while Tyler has a cinematic vibe.
So George is better
I can see why. I mean, George Newbern debuted in Advent Children, an anime movie.

Why are people giving Tyler Hoechlin's Sephiroth such a hard time? He sounds fine.
Nice joke
Because George Newbern is un-fucking-beatable
@@Killer_Kris7 I realize this is CLEARLY a troll account, but hey, I'll bite. George Newbern is absolutely the best Sephiroth, no question. I honestly don't know why they didn't employ him for the role, but this game has a almost no big-name actors. The only two I recognized were Jon DiMaggio and Fred Tatsciore. Pretty rare for a Square Enix game, and even rarer for a game of this scope.
Having never heard of Tyler Hoechlin before this game, I was expecting another Lance Bass debacle, but it was anything but. Certainly not George Newbern, but a decent stand-in.
I don't know why I bothered writing all of that since it'll be ignored, but I've said my piece, so troll away.
@@richardsinclair7661 You did not write this comment in vein, I've read it and I 100% agree with you.
It's because it does not sound mencacing and maniacal enough. It sounds like a dude doing a ASMR video trying to mimic gorge newborne. No offense to anyone who likes the voice but I do not like it when companies replace english voice actors that actually fit the character and keep their native actors. This is only for money and nothing more but either way Tyler is ok but he's just not that great to me. I've heard and grew up with all the sephiroth voices and even a fan dub voice for a ff7 mod sounds a whole lot better than tyler. He's equally menacing and scary while adding the superiority and soulless feel. This is how seph is supposed to sound not some dude doing asmr and trying to sound like a try hard. He's ok just not the best.
George Newburn is my favorite. His voice is so milotic in a sinister way
George Newbern’s Sephiroth is my favorite performance in any Final Fantasy game. He just sounds so evil, like something out of someone’s nightmares, while characters like the Emperor, Exdeath, Seymour, and Kuja sound silly (but still fun).
The last two are pretty similar. Both do a good job. Lance Bass... for a singer you'd expect him to know what human voices are supposed to sound like.
Right.... and his voice here sounds human lmao like what type of criticism is that? 😂😂
George always, is a legend
To be fair to Lance Bass though: He was the first one who even gave Sephiroth a voice
For English cuz Japan had someone for Ehergeiz
In my head I pictured Sephiroth sounding like George or Tyler when I first played ff7. Or maybe the Voice of someone like Sesshomaru or Naruku from Inuyasha. I have no idea what they were thinking with Lance
I always pictured James Spader
George Newbern is the best Sephriroth
Even when Sub Par Voice Direction works against him, George Newbern is still the Best English voice for Sephiroth.
I'm looking forward to seeing how much Tyler improves in Remake Part 2.

George Newbern no question!
I think I'll always love Goerge Newbern, but I think Tyler Hoechlin did a fantastic job trying to keep the same deep tone and style. I never even realized there was another VA besides George and Tyler though, so I'm just going to be grateful Lance didn't get cast for the Remake.
George Newbern of course but Tyler's version is growing on me
George Newbern stands superior as Sephiroth, though Tyler did a decent Sephiroth. but holy fuck does George Newbern have a very toxic fanbase, goddamn..
Wow! If I had a nickel for every time Superman and Sephiroth were played by the same guy, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. Right?
Does one have to play Superman to be a good voice actor for Sephiroth?
Maybe Henry Cavill? 😂
Nicholas Cage? 🤣
George is the best Sephiroth.
His theme is so legendary
the new guy aint bad honestly hes not as icy as george newbern but hes in the same ball park i think anybody else may have done a worse job anyway ill take it..he can portray how sephiroths personality comes off just fine
I remember Lance's voice being much more intimidating back in the day when I was dodging that 10ft katana, and even if the isolated recordings are a bit rough compared to the others, I can definitely see Lance's calm arrogance carry though to the other actors as well.
Newbern and Hoechlin are SUPERMAN. Now we just need Henry Cavill or Brandon Routh to be Sephiroth in PS5 Remake.
Honestly I'd love that and believe BOTH would do very well.
WE NEED HENRY CAVILL AS SEPHIROTH
Nicholas Cage anyone? 😂🤣

Just by George's Sephiroth in the FF7 AC movie (the "good to see you, cloud" line omg!) and FF7 CC. I think he is the best Sephiroth.

Who ever thought to hire a member of NSYNC as the voice of Sephiroth?! What horrible voice acting from Lance Bass. He never would fit that bill of such a powerful character as Sephiroth. Someone was on drugs that day.

What if Sam Witwer voiced Sephiroth? Cause I loved his performance as Darth Maul in Star Wars

George Newbern is also Injustice Superman actor
i feel like george and tyler's voices both give sephiroth a slightly different vibe. george's voice makes him sound more superior, godlike and evil (i think this is most seen in advent children), and while tyler does catch those things in his sephiroth voice, i feel like he makes him seem more like a looming presence, which i think makes sense because of how sephiroth is presented in the remake compared to advent children. both are great to me but george will always have the legendary sephiroth voice :)
There are a lot of George Newbern fanboys in these comments. Can't believe people can be so pissed off about a voice actor change.

This is just my opinion but I feel like Crispin Freeman aka Itachi Uchiha could also be a good fit for Sephiroth as well. George obviously still bein the best, but Crispin could definitely do him justice as well

Why does lance sound like such a frat boy 😭😭
So does Hoechlin lol
Lance Bass out here voicing him like a teenage heartthrob...

...Wow.
When I was a teen I thought it was the neatest thing that Lance Bass voiced Sephiroth in KH1.
And I thought it was a pity that I could barely hear him, he was so quiet and echoey and the music was so loud.
Hearing it without the music...
You uh... really phoned it in there, Bass.
its interesting the last guy is like a mix of both and it somewhat fits Sephiroth perfectly
To Square's credit, the Final Fantasy franchise didn't start using voice actors until around the 10th game, so they didn't know whose voice would suit Sephiroth. And granted, Sephiroth's appearance in the first Kingdom Hearts game was only for fighting him in the Coliseum, but there was no explanation whatsoever for why you had to fight him. At least when the Advent Children movie came out, they got some of the voice actors from that in KH2 (of course, Steve Burton had already voiced Cloud in KH1, so it was obvious that he'd voice him again in said movie and again in KH2).
The stunt casting in KH1 was hilarious. Mandy Moore voiced Aerith. Leon was DAVID FUCKING BOREANAZ.
One of the things you have to understand about Kingdom Hearts is that as it is part-Disney, many of its original characters are (or at some point have been) voiced by B-list TV stars, child actors (former or otherwise), and/or pop singers, with occasional standout choices such as Christopher Lee and Leonard Nimoy. So of course Disney would pick Lance Bass as a bankable stunt-cast name for an early-2000s game.
Tyler Hoechlin is so underrated as an actor
tyler shockingly sounds more like george than i thought he would tbh
