While Superman did well, Superman did better than Superman when compared to Superman.
Ronnie J. Koopa 😂😂😂😂
_It be like that sometimes_
Im not sure what you just said but I'm pretty sure it was a middle finger to fans
@@thevampirecielphantomhive2342 two Supermans have now voiced the English dub for sephiroth
This will be a tradition! Only superman can voice sephiroth. Lets do the same the wolverine since its live action actors, Vincent will forever be wolverine >:D
George Newburn is _the_ definitive Sephiroth voice: collected, cold, menacing.
People are out of their mind if they think the re-casts were not monetarily motivated
@@nyxurich8959 what's your point? They still aren't paying the known talent for an entire game of VO
Just started to play and I miss his voice alrdy
@@7StrifeCloud7 Same here, this new douche has too much emotion in his voice. George Newbern showed no emotion at anytime, just a cold, calculated, monotone voice.
@@7StrifeCloud7 don't worry the original cast is still to be voices of their characters in the future I doubt enix will use the new cast again since the remake is really a reboot and a different timeline according to square enix
George Newbern's voice is cold, and calculated but also cocky and seductive.
Perfectly said.
Definitely the voice fit perfectly in KH 1 and 2 also
123MRFRIENDZONED Last time I checked, George didn’t voice Seph in KH1. Only 2.
@@galaxy_kitten95 That's indeed true. Sephiroth was voiced by Lance Bass in KH1, the guy who was in the band known as N Sync.
Seductive lol
It's the fact that George Newbern can speak so calmly and with a subdued tone yet bring a hidden rage and murderous intent with that same voice. It's like hearing the screams of a psychopathic killer charging towards you, yet all he does is whisper.
"You will rot."
dayum... George definitely has a cold and menacing voice.
I love the way George voices him..it just fits...
Agreed I wish they just made him voice sephi in the remake
He is Superman after all.
I could totally see something like this happening during casting:
"Alright guys, let's get the cast back together for the remake!"
"Uh yea, about that...who was it that played Sephiroth again? The name has escaped me.."
"You know, I'm not sure either. Hmm..Oh! I do know that he's also played Superman on TV!"
"Oh that guy! Tyler Hoechlin!"
"Yea yea him!"
Meanwhile, George Newburn sits at home wondering why he hasn't gotten a call from Square Enix.
Dude, I literally thought the same thing! But to be honest, of all the Superman actors besides Newbern, I think Henry Cavill would be the only one able to come remotely close to Newbern’s tone. Tyler Hoechlin is just missing this little bit of bass-y raspiness.
Robin Anwaldt oh definitely! I respect Tyler as an actor and how he got the opportunity to voice such an iconic character. But knowing his natural voice, I’m not too surprised that he wouldn’t be able to bring the bass in the voice without making it sound whispery. Henry Cavill on the other hand? Oh yeah, his voice I think is perfect for Seph. After all, he does play another gray haired swordsman ;)
@@appl3s0ft Henry Cavill as Sephiroth: Hmm.
I don’t think Hoechlin tops Newbern, but I do like Hoechlin’s take.
Agreed.
George we miss you already !!! ughhh
"What do you cherish most? Give me the pleasure of taking it away."
I pity you; you just don't get it at all.
There's not a thing I _don't_ cherish!
rip aerith
Cloud:I cherish........ You Sephiroth!😏
🤣🤣
0:49, George wins. Tyler doesn't have enough bass in his voice, for my taste.
I want that ASMR feeling
Its not bass its depth. George is too menacing and dark and doesn't sound detached as if he's fully aware he's superior to everyone and everything
I just hear Superman with a slightly lower pitched voice.
George Newbern voice. It's make me feel cold, menacing. Newbern voice make me feel like he "is" Sephiroth himself
Hoechlin is by no means bad, but Newbern's slightly raspy voice just fits the character all to well.
Explain to me how George Newbern is able sto sound like the friendliest dude ever when playing superman but would like pure evil as Sephiroth
1 word: range
He also voiced injustice superman
Advent Children Sephiroth just stuck with me. Those quotes were pretty memorable.
The fact that they made him call Cloud a Puppet gets me scared. One year left and we'll see the thing. I'm not ready 😢
i will..... never be a memory
Tyler Hoechlin doesn't sound very menacing.
I choose George Newbern.
He *does* however have the religious mania down pat.
line*
neither of them sound good i prefer the japanese voice actor. these guys sound constipated.
@@AIexGoneCrazy oh shut the fuck up dub hater lol
@@Killer_Kris7 I think Morikawa and Newbern did both a good job with Sephiroth
After George Newbern's fantastic performance in Superman vs The Elite, he truly IS Sephiroth
If I hadn't heard Newbern first Hoechlin would be perfect. But Newburn just has that ice cold quality to his voice that is simply beyond perfect casting. Even more interesting to see him go from that to Superman in Superman vs the Elite.
I really like Tyler voice i think he's doing a great job but of course George newborn is the one and only Sephiroth!. I really don't know what square enix were thinking this really took us by a surprise and really Shock us and without notice or any explanation on why they did it exactly same as they did with Versus XIII by rebranding it as xv and changing the whole story without any warning or notice just WTH are they thinking
Agreed but do remember though that Versus XIII, Type-0 (originally called FFXIII Agito) and XIII-2 all happen in the same universe. Versus is still apart of the series. The Fabula Nova Crystallis Universe.
Tyler's gives the impression of "I gotta beat this guy" vs George's gives a more "Oh shit" kind of impression.
George just had a good voice, and the emotion behind it to make the Sephiroth voice a lot of us love.
Tyler isn't lacking emotion in my opinion, its just his voice doesn't necessarily fit, and also I think it's just bc we're all used to hearing George.
George sounds so natural, Tyler's is just an anime character
So....before anyone says George is a bit monotone, keep in mind that the Japanese performance was like that too. In fact George was told not to inflect too much and he said this at SacAnime during the Final Fantasy panel which I went to this year. And when it comes to Morikawa playing Sephiroth, he talks a bit slower and deliberately compared to his other roles where he’s playing imposing, heel-face-turn characters. I’ve been looking into tons of Morikawa drama CDs for the past few years and I noticed this difference. Although I’ve found CDs where he does sound more like Sephiroth, most of them have him sound “lighter”, asides the Diabolik Lovers series.
Edit: The panel recording is FINALLY up. I also time stamped it to where he says he was told be the monotone: czcams.com/video/VfFt-T-1mgQ/video.html
初台駅タダシ I actually loved how monotone he sounds, it adds to his character in terms of how powerful he is. He doesn’t need to be phased by these ants that try to take him down! He was so scary in advent children tbh
Well that’s a shame they gave him that direction imo. His voice has a nice timbre, but I’m really not a fan of his delivery of the lines.
The remake voice sounds like he’s relishing his power.
@@crfx8408 agreed with you. It may sound monotone, but that adds to his feeling of confidence and always in control of his emotions and you can tell that through his voice. I hate the fact that George was replaced.
George is the best
@@davidrich27 Tylor from MTV teen wolf and super man from Supergirl
after hearing sephiroths in advent and then in remake, advent sephiroth voice is more menacing. you're gonna fkng tremble when you heard him saying your name
George Newbern are more heavy and evil sound
Judging Newbern’s response/posts to the recast, he’s clearly been fucked over.
He DID say during an interview at San Diego Comic Con he told his agent to get in contact with SE and has been attempting to figure out what the game plan is for the remake but instead of being properly told anything he’s been ghosted from the remake while supposedly being promised “side projects”.
Ugh the husk in george's voice along 1:00 is so good
I thought so as well 🙃 It’s like he’s singing it. it’s so good
“Good to see you, Cloud” - nuff said
George Newbern will always be Sephiroth. Tyler just didn't cut at all but I would give him props for at least trying
@JD it doesn't have anything to do with nostalgia and everything to do with preference lol like that statement you made is completely fucking moronic.
George is the best but square enix said they will use the original cast again In the future.. they just wanted something new but won't use the new.cast again
@@nyxurich8959 what article said that? Just curious. Also they should have just kept the original cast in the first place
@@Valkera17 they wanted something new but I don't remember where I saw it... This was 2016 or 2017 but they tend to keep the original voice actors for the new kingdom hearts when ever thstnis
@@nyxurich8959 OK that sounds good
While I enjoyed the re-cast for cloud, Newburn will always be Sephiroth’s voice to me. He delivered a cold, calculating and genuinely evil voice that you always pictured in your head when you were a kid reading texts boxes in the original. I didn’t think his re-cast was bad but when he spoke I found myself wishing he had that bass in his voice that Newburn brought to the character that let you know “oh shit, this is the bad guy for sure”
George was really good. That Deity like confidence in his voice is great. Dude sounds beautiful as fuck.
Tyler did great but GEORGE IS JUST ICONIC. Whenever I hear him talk, I just : “CHOKE ME”
No voice can chill me like George’s voice good god x.x
While I like Tyler Hoechlin, the person, he is No Sephiroth. And it's not that he is doing a bad job at voice acting. Its just that George is so much better for a Sephiroth. It just feels right, It more collected and deep, truly more menacing. So George Newbern all the way.
When I hear Sephiroth, it's without a doubt the man himself George Newbern. Cold, Sadistic, Menacing, Deep & Arrogance
They should do what they did in Silent him HD collections.
Have like a Advent Children Voices Option Lol
I might’ve been heartbroken about Steve Burton, but I’m downright appalled by Sephiroth. Tyler sounds like he’s trying a George Newbern impression but can’t do it. For Christ sake, why did Square change actors after confirming they’d return for this game?
That's what I'm wondering.
Money buddo
It's disgusting. The old VAs were SO much better.
@@imouto4hire Bruh wtf...😭 You're grimy for this comment hahahha
Because Square wanted "big name actors" (and by "big name" I of course mean actors from the CW channel) for FF7R main cast so they can make big money. They basically pulled a Kojima with David Hayter and Snake. It's also the same reason why Disney, DreamWorks, and other major animation studios cast Hollywood actors in their movies so they'll sell more tickets, because let's face it, no parents are gonna take their whiny little crotch-spawns to go see the new Toy Story if the main cast consist of a bunch of (to them) nobody voice actors with years of experience in their craft like John DiMaggio or Jim Cummings, but Tom Hanks and Tim Allen on the other hand are definitely big name stars they've heard of and will definitely buy a ticket just for them.
No disrespect to Hoechlin and...whoever it was that completely destroyed Zack's voice, but I wish they'd just gracefully step down. Both were just heartbreaking to listen to.
THANK YOU!! yes Zack's voice was God awful I'm sorry but out of all of the voice actor changes In the game Zack's was the worse Crisis Core Zack was so much better and I vastly preferred Advent Children Sephiroth as for Aerith I liked both Tifa, Barret, Cloud, and Rude wasn't bad but Advent Children Reno was just a little better but I don't mind the new one but I truly hope when the second game comes out the go back to Advent Children Sephiroth and bring back Advent Children Vincent and Cid's voice actors because they to were perfect for those characters.
I always play games in their original languages and I love Japanese so much. The ONLY fucking reason I was going to play FF7R in English was because of George Newbern's voice. Come on he's THE Sephiroth. WHY tf did they change him. I love his voice so much
Me too man. So fucking pissed because they changed sephiroths va.
Add a 3rd person here that thinks EXACTLY the same.
the voice they really messed up in the remake was zack
A billion times agreed
I AGREE
I feel like it got better at the end of intergrade
if they're making a live action version of FF7, they should cast Henry Cavilll as Sephiroth just to complete the Superman as Sephiroth thing.
I think Hoechlin did a great job portraying Sephiroth.
But goddamn, Newbern's rendition is just so sultry and decadent. Absolute chef's kiss.
Anyone else think it would've been a total mindfuck if they used Tyler's voice throughout entire game until the end, but then switch to Newbern mid-conversation once you realize who he really is?
George Newbern is the one and only Sephiroth! Even better than Lance Bass and Tyler Hoechlin who are miscast and a big mistaken recast. It's so impossible to replace all the FF7 veteran voices!
Same
George was great Tyler sounds almost like the guy Lance was a huge miscast no matter how much filter they put to his voice to sounds sinister
@Jaegar Ultima Not gonna lie, Cody sounds more natural for Cloud than Burton.
@Jaegar Ultima But Steve Burton has that small country accent, which fits since Cloud is a country boy, Cody doesn't have that type of voice.
@Jaegar Ultima Both are good in their own ways. I agree there's no point in arguing about it cause everyone likes what they like. I wasn't trying to argue either lol I was just stating my opinion.
I am playing FF7 remake and It’s awesome apart from the voice acting... how can you take Sephiroth off George Newbern??!!! 😡
It's a very interesting interpretation of Sephiroth for sure. I think George would have nailed the role as he has consistently done so in the past. Make sure you share the petition on your social media so we can get the word out for the Legacy Voice Cast DLC! www.change.org/p/release-additional-dlc-with-the-voice-actors-from-the-compilation-of-ffvii-for-the-final-fantasy-vii-remake
George is incredible for Sephiroth. I hope he returns to play Sephiroth at some point.
George Newbern, hands down.
He is better than Tyler
George does it better, Square Enix should've just casted him instead of Tyler. Tyler's voice isn't deep enough to be in the Sephiroth club.
When I saw sephiroth in the remake, I was literally hoping it was George. Then I heard it and was so disappointed.... :( I appreciate Tyler trying to sound like George but ugh. George will always be my sephiroth. He sounds so badass and menacing
It’s not that Tyler is bad, it’s just that he’s not George.
Its sad the last words george and steve said as cloud and sephiroth was dissidia espeacly for steve brought back after knowing you will be reaplace for dlc skin voice lines it will probly end the same for rick gomez who just voiced zack after so long in world of final fantasy
Newbern 1000000000000000%
Thank you for watching this video! We would certainly love it if Square Enix would decide to implement this DLC. Check out the petition! www.change.org/p/release-additional-dlc-with-the-voice-actors-from-the-compilation-of-ffvii-for-the-final-fantasy-vii-remake
Great video! What's the name of the music at the beginning please?
I think Tyler Hoechlin tries to be George Newbern. and he fails.
Too bad for Lance Bass. He's been forgotten as one of Sephiroth's English Voice Actor. But in my opinion he not that bad. But I would still go with George.
Tyler does well but it doesn't come off right and feels less intimidating.
George feels more menacing and cold hearted with some confidence in it.
Well I'm a little bit dissapointed because they recast Sephiroth's VA. George was the perfect Sephiroth for me.
Newborn Sephiroth will always be the goated one
George Newbern is *🔥🎶SEPHIROTH!!!!!!!🎶🔥*
with George Newbern's voice
Sephiroth just sounds extra sexier
Imagine remake graphics Sephiroth with George Newbern as the voice actor
Can you send a link to the ff7 theme lullaby?
George Newborn is the original. He IS Sephiroth! So there, I pick Mr.Newborn all day, er-day! 😎
What's the music at the beginning please?
George Newbern’s voice as Sephiroth was Creepy and Haunting it gave me chills down my spine
He was Amazing as Sephiroth
Tyler’s Sephiroth is Terrible
What version was the the theme at the beginning?? Does anyone know?!
90% of comments : "Hoechlin did Great, don't get me wrong, but Newburn is better"
Newbern is the GOAT Sephiroth
Anyone know where I can find this version of One Winged Angel?
Tyler doesn’t have as much bass to his voice but he did fine. Y’all are just overly critical.
We didn't say anyone was bad?
Operation Reunion read past comments thank you.
@@Tifa7767 Since you said "y'all", it seemed you were directing your comment at our video which did not rate the performance of the actors! As for fans, they have the freedom of opinions just like you do! Thank you for commenting!
Operation ReunionI was gonna say...you didn’t compare though. No, just fans in general. I don’t get why we can’t just be happy that we even got a remake, companies are listening we should be rejoicing. Same thing happened with Resident Evil.
@@Tifa7767 Well, the RE voice actors were told in advanced (years) that they were dropped for non-union actors. The old FF7 cast voiced the 2015 trailer, continued to voice in other games after, and then were pulled from the project months before E3 with no reason given. It's not RE. If you aren't interested in the DLC, it's perfectly fine! We are just asking to add an additional voice pack so the Remake cast is still there for you to play with! The game is already released, so please go enjoy it and don't let us bother you :)
I feel like Square just changed the cast so they could have some "celebrities" in their game. Thing is most of them are D-list celebrities so it won't help much with their sales either.
George newburn smashed it best
What's the first movie we see Sephiroth in here?
can someone give me the link of the intro main theme?
GEORGE NEWBERN IS A LEGEND!... X3
Hoechlin does a decent job, definitely good for the friendlier types of conversations he has in CCR and the Nibelheim Incident flashback. But he can't come close to Newbern's sinister edge.
It’s a bird! No, it’s a plane! No, it’s Superman-, I mean Sephiroth.
An update on the casting change:
The old cast were all fired from the project when Sony and Warner Bros took over casting. All the new actors sound way different than their previous iterations. Except Sephiroth. Where they directed him to sound like the previous iteration. This is OK, that merely means that they believe in George Newbern's interpretation. My question is, if that's the case why not keep the original? It's an insult to Tyler Hoechlin (For not giving him creative freedom.), & it's an insult to George Newbern (Believing in his interpretation, but not keeping him on board.). It's a poor executive decision IMO.
Two words: George Newbern
George Newburn. I miss you,Superman.
George Newbern contest
Tyler sounds kinda like the announcer for soul calibur or tekken, imposing and powerful as Sephiroth should. Newbern however sounds so cold, disinterested and almost mocking. I prefer the cold indifference from Newbern but i fully acknowledge my bias towards him thanks to spending countless hours in Crisis Core and Dissidia
They both play it differently with all respect Newborn has has longer time in the role where Hocelyn we only had snippets of audio. It's a different take it doesn't sound bad it isn't phoned in or bad just different.
As for Superman favourite for voice Sephiroth, George is the best one than Tyler.
George Newbern is always Sephiroth to me
Wished they'd kept Newburn...
His voice might not be as deep and bass-y as George but I think Hoechlin still did a damn good job. He's got the right tone and everything. George is a hell of a voice to live up to and he did it well.
I think it's the same with Cloud.
I wish they did keep the original voice actors but the new ones still did a good job and did a pretty good job of keeping true to the original ones.
I don’t mind Hoechlin but when it comes to delivery, Newbern just has it down better. Hoechlin sometimes comes off one dimensional. It really shows the difference between a seasoned voice actor and a live action actor.
Newbern's voice is much much better
DUDE THE WAY NEWBERN!SEPHIROTH JUST SAYS CLOUD'S NAME LIKE AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
2:00 😱♥️♥️😭
After playing the full Remake I can say that as much as I like Tyler Hoechlin I absolutely can't stand him as Sephiroth.
Bro I just realized that the part Sephiroth stab him is a reference not only to Crisis core when he gets stab but also whe Aerith dies
Newbern suits Sephiroth better BY FAR
After watching this video, it's clear that Newbern is Original Coke/Pepsi.
Tyler is literally the off brand, knock off you get from the dollar store.
And for a bonus just for fairness: Lance Bass is the Coke/Pepsi Vanilla/Cherry/Orange/etc spin off flavors. Some people like them, others don't but it's just a mix bag overall.
Idiot
1:00 "is that the best you can do" uwu
1:23 "you will rot" :O
1:25 "traitor!!" >:O
1:38 "how dare you square enix" >:(
2:03 "Good to see you cloud" gayest reunion ever I LOVE IT
THE WAY HE SAYS CLOUD FUCK WE'LL NEVER GET TO HEAR IT AGAIN
Newbern hands down. Tyler was OK, but he sounded more sympathetic toward Cloud and that's not how he should sound. George captured his essence and had the perfect balance for him 😃
No hate meant for Hoechlin, but... I'm really sorry - sir Newbern is just owning this role. Cold, sadistic, mocking, self-centered. And in Crisis Core, before he went mad, he does friend-Sephiroth really good as well.
If I had to give a BEST SEPHIROTH AWARD for the actor who just caused me to shiver a thousand times over by just how DARK, DANGEROUS, SEDUCTIVE, DROP-DEAD SEXY, SERIOUS and CALM his voice is, that award would DEFINITELY go to GEORGE NEWBERN, hands down. When I first heard his voice in Crisis Core, I swear the man immediately sent tingling ice-cold shivers down my spine! Then I saw the Advent Children scene with Sephiroth in it and OH MY LORD...those shivers increased tenfold, like I was shivering like crazy, but in a good kind of way. George Newbern has this dark, dangerous, serious yet calm tone when he voices his character and you can tell that he enjoys doing voicework for Sephiroth. Tyler Hoechlin can't even compare to the legendary George Newbern. Believe me, I've seen Tyler's performance in FF7 Remake and George Newbern's performance in both Crisis Core and Advent Children just blows his right out of the water.
I'm happy to say that I'm glad we actually HAVE a character like Sephiroth who's A LOT more dangerous and serious unlike the characters we have now. We've been needing someone like him in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for a long time now and I'm glad that he's in the game. I'm very comfortable with Sephiroth's Japanese voice, but I prefer his English one more.
And the dissidia?
