2024 Kawasaki ZX-4RR - What's New? And Who Is This Bike Really For?

  • The 2024 Kawasaki ZX-4RR is a Superbike for the streets, but most of the reviews that I've seen are from people who might not understand the bike, or are just not in the market for a bike like this. Let's be honest, this bike isn't for everyone, but if you're the right buyer for this bike, it could be the perfect super sport! Check it out in person at Jim Gilbert's PowerSports here: powersports.wheelsanddeals.ca

    I was wanting an inline 4. I didn't want the ZX6R because it had more power that I would ever use that often. I was riding a 2021 MT07. Loved riding it but it didn't have the quality's of an in line 4 such as the sound and the ability to work the transmission for the power. With the MT07 the power was so immediate it wasn't that much fun for the roads I ride. It's great for people that like to stunt bikes. I don't. I love the ZX4RR and I ride it almost every day while owning 4 other bikes. I was a little apprehensive on buying a 400 but I am not at all disappointed. Insurance is even cheaper not to mention how fuel efficient it is.

    Hi Peter, good to see you posting again. I am anxious to look at this video completely but just wanted to say how happy to see you again. Hope all is well. I am a retired 74 year old who is now writing spy mystery novels. Two are completed and a third will come out this late spring or summer. It is a novel that features motocross and sports motorcycles. I used your videos and reviews from a lot of my research to ensure that I could speak in a way that sounded like I understood both areas of this cool sport. As a consequence I am now in the process of purchasing a Kawasaki ninja 400. I have never ridden a motorcycle before. I did play college and professional tennis some 50 years ago. Had very fast reactions and coordination. Later in life I took up the cello so my left arm and right arm can still function well independently, I used your reviews to determine the ninja 400 was the perfect ride for a new rider my age and with what I see myself doing. I would love to ride motocross. 60 years ago had I been introduced to that sport perhaps i would have gone that way rather than tennis. It and track racing are the most exciting sports I have witnessed. This is a long note but wanted to let you know your impact and how important your reviews are not just to me I am sure to a lot of viewers. Glad you are back and doing your reviews. Hope you and your family are well. Tom M

    Hi Peter! Love all your reviews you’ve been educating and entertaining us! I am a proud owner of my 2023 ZX-4RR in the states and when doing comparisons from the 23 to the 24 I can’t help but wonder why Kawasaki’s website they’ve listed on the tire sizes a change to the front tire of the 23 model from 120/70-17 to the new 24 model at 110/70-17. I’m not anywhere close to knowing much about performances and functions, but if this isn’t an error then why the change to a skinnier tire for the front but keeping the rear at 160/60-17? My guess is more agility when entering corners and would there be a noticeable difference from this minor change?
    Thanks!

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Great question. Just to clarify, the CANADIAN Kawasaki site lists both years as having 120, not 120 and 110. www.kawasaki.ca So I'm assuming that it's a typo on the American site. I didn't notice a tire size difference when I saw the bike, but to be honest, I'm not sure that I would have double checked that. In short, if it is a different size, that can help the bike, "dive in" to the corner a little quicker, but the 120 is a standard size with a lot more tire options, so for a bike that is likely to end up on the racetrack with many users, I would expect that they keep it at 120 to allow the largest variety of tires to fit. I hope that helps! I'll double check the Canadian bike today when I visit Jim Gilbert's PowerSports.

    • @Lor5280
      @Lor5280 Před 4 měsíci

      Appreciate your clarification! I am agreeing with you that this may also be a typo in the American website. I also checked the Kawasaki app and it does still list the 2024 as 120. We don’t have any available here yet but I will definitely check with my local dealership where I purchased mine from for confirmation.
      Thanks for the swift response!

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  Před 4 měsíci +2

      I would choose the ZX-4RR but that doesn't mean that it's better, just that it's better for me. I think the ZX-4RR would be a better bike for me because I don't need the ultimate in speed in a bike like this, but bikes like these can really help develop skills that make a rider fast. So for me, having the slower bike, with all of the capability would be more fun for what I want.

      @@JustaRider808 It's definitely still fun. If I owned it, I would unlock the full potential that North Americans don't get from the factory. (It's limited for noise regulation reasons) Once it's unlocked, it's not slow at all (and to be fair it's not "slow" but it has more potential) To me, the unlocked amount of power is a perfect balance of amazing handling, and great power to be controllable, but still thrilling.

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@JustaRider808 I can totally relate. I love my Z900RS SE but I would also love to have a decent Adventure bike. Sometimes enjoying the bike you choose happens because you consciously choose to NOT have the other thing that you want.
      I guess what I'm saying is that it can be less about choosing the one you want, and more about accepting what you won't have.
      I've resigned myself to not having an adventure bike for now and have found that decision has brought more enjoyment in the bike I do have. Every bike is a compromise. No bike is perfect, but there are plenty of bikes that, once they're in your garage, can really bring a lot of satisfaction.
