    I got mine a few days ago. Honestly, I didn't think any piece of gear could change things up for me anymore, certainly not the way this one has. EVERYTHING sounds and feels right, every guitar, every other stomp box, every amp ... this is worth every penny! I never played the original, so I came at this with an unbiased mind, and I'm not comparing it to anything else. Get one.

      Ofcourse bro this is why everyone loved the klon when it came out. It makes everything sound better

    The OTS 20 needs no Klon, but what the hell, why not. I owned an original years ago, I lived in Cambridge only a block away from the builder. I traded it back in the late 90s for a f#*king delay pedal that I could buy anywhere, but didn't use the Klon at all. Now of course I could have traded it for an Eric Johnson strat, it complete amp, but such is life.
    These are definitely more for a gigging musicians, they work better at stage volumes. They sound really good with the gain up almost all the way, or almost all the way off. They use 2 different gain stages; clean and an overdrive: turn up the gain and the clean gets shunted to the ground, turn it down and the clean gets shunted, so in between they don't sound great.
    GREAT for mid range without the big bass/treble attenuation you get with TS's. The best description I heard when someone was asked what was the "magic" with it;
    "When I turn it on, it sounds like I've pushed my speaker cabs 10' closer to the audience, without any real increase in volume."

    So sick. And only $175! I got a few 18 watt clones with master volumes from Nik back in like 2005 or 2006. Still my main blues amp. Great build quality and a great price.

    Ordered mine and am so stoked. I used the ryra previously but found the time e a bit dark (otherwise it’s a great Klone especially for the MSRP!). Love that they use the same form factor too, from a glimpse most won’t know the difference.

    I LOVE your show! Always enjoy the format :) My only concern is that you always look so bored when the other guy is playing. I know it is not intentional but it makes it harder to get into to it, when it doesn't seem like you guys are :/

    I think it's Bill Finnegan 's fault to a certain part. He has the right not to build them anymore. He could bringt them out again like they where instead about bitchin about people who clone his stuff. Because they can't get them anymore because they cost crazy amounts of money and they are hard to find. If he would bring the old centaur alive I'll get it dead simple. This thing sounds amazing

      The audio clipping diodes in the original klon are unobtanium, that's the main reason why those original klons cost so much.

    • @thebird404
      @thebird404 Před 6 lety +3

      John I think if you really research it the unobtainable diode's is a myth Bill likes to propagate. He really bought up all the worlds remaining old stock and no one else will ever find more! Year right. BYOC found them for their silver pony. The circuit was revealed a good while ago and the diode's have been proved to be all but myth, it's a good story though

      Bill says they are germanium 1N34As. I've got dozens of them that look identical to those in photos of the Klon circiutboard. I've bulit a Klone with them that sounds just fine.
