Ceriatone is a company made by a Malaysian. Ceria means happy, tone is well tone. So put em both itâs a happy tone.
It sure makes me happy!
Great sounding pedal! Great playing and demo! Iâm definitely going to buy this pedal. Thx brotha đđ€đž
Enjoyed the Daylights out of your video. Your amp and your tone with that fender what a glorious all on its own. But you sold me on that pedal man it's worth having even if it's not always on the board. It's just one of those must haves
Rock on! It does take quite a bit of space but the tone it gives is just magical. Some may say...........MYTHICAL(hate that word haha)
You played this so well I ordered and received this pedal. Most of the time its the only one on. Thank You and Ceriatone.
So happy you love it. It really does it all for me
Really dig the tone on this one! Great playing and review. Contemplating a Klon clone for my board now. Your friend who you talked too about having a clean tone to show case the pedal and what it truly sounds like seems like he would be a smart guy FYI.
Yes he is
Keep making videos man! Your content and playing is so good!
Thanks so much!!!!
Cool review. đđ» I can hear the TGP riffs.đ
This was an interesting one. I really like the rhythm tones you go with the Centaura. Not so much the leads. BUT - when stacked with the octave fuzz...butter, man. That tone just melted everything in the room. Jimi would have been smiling down upon you.
That Octaland is certainly something you should look at!
This pedal is awesome, and it sounds better in real life as opposed to YT, but your playing Buddy is otherworldly. Just received the Horse Breaker, and that pedal is huge, with the Bluesbreaker on one side, and the KLon on the other, sounds way better than just about all other dual overdrives to my ear. Love your playing, tone and feel Buddy, your videos really are a highlight on my day
Thank you so much for the kind words! Yes the horsebreaker is om the list for me for sure!
Thank you for playing with an actual clean tone!
You're welcome!
Best things about this video.... A tie for first place between the playing and the clean sound. The Centura an honourable third.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
My late father left me 2. The gold one and a silver one, both in their boxes both original and in fantastic condition. I later bought the KTR also made by Bill Finnegan.
Bless him! I hope you get to play them
I bought centura yesterday. It is not as good as Centaur. It lacks sustain and it sounds thin.
So I literally just bought this pedal because Iâve been wanting a legit Klon(e) on my board and found a really good price. Havenât listened to Gary Clark Jr. in a good minute but man, you absolutely nailed that âBright Lightsâ sound my dude! Iâve also seen him live many times so I definitely know that sound well đđ . Makes me even more excited to get back home a plug it in!
First Ceriatone product and love it. Would it could never sell it. Any setting you put is fantastic. With or without the gain knob engaged that is.
They really are amazing. couldnt agree more!
I bought the closest thing too. Perfect down to the germanium diodes. This demo sounds great with a Strat. I've really noticed a huge difference in the guitars with humbuckers. WOW Currently using it into a Princeton Reissue. I think I'm finally set for life.
What year is the princeton reissue?
Good video! Found your review quite funny, subscribed đ
Thank you!!
nice tone
Just made two centura kits. The quality is incredible.
The Centura and the Mythos Mjolnir are my two personal favorite Klones. What I like about the Mjolnir is the fact that it is more open/less compressed than other Klones out there, even when compared to an actual Centaur or KTR.
I can't wait to try one. I hear it is an amazing klone and pedal all together
Have you tried the Tumnus by Wampler ? it's Absolutely Amazing ! The foot switch broke on my centura in the first 30 days. Nik did email a link for a replacement part ,and payed for it. But I changed it out ,since it would have been way to much to have it shipped back and forth from Malaysia .
@@STRATMAN1969 The tumnus is wonderful, I have a wampler gearbox which has the tumnus on the right side of the pedal. Brian simply put doesn't make a bad dirt pedal!
While on this ridiculous klone chasing rabbit hole, Iâve come down to the Centura, the (wildwood) Mjolnir, and the vintage spec Mythical OD. I still donât know what to do đ
@@rgvt5638 The Wildwood Mjolnir is excellent and also consider the Decibelics Golden Horsie or Apollo Approved Unicorn. It's a rabbit hole for sure, but those are all excellent options.
Hey buddy you got a great ear and you're a great player to as well. Video is very well done and definitely help make my decision. I don't really think there's anything better than the real clown with man there's not a whole lot of difference anymore
I have the gold one .....it is fantastic.
Great playing. The Klon sounds great, nice fat tones.
Fat Tones is my middle name đ€Ł
I have 3, Built 2 Bought one. Its is the same as a Klon 100%!!!! Hype will blind many to pay 6k for the same thing. makes them feel important
Living Room Gear Demos did a direct comparison between the Klon Centaur and the Rimrock Effects Mythical Overdrive. I sold my Ceriatone based on that review. The Ceriatone gets amazingly close, but the Mythical is an EXACT sonic replica of the original Klon. I really believe that only a computer could analyze the frequencies created by the pair and identify minuscule sonic differences. There isnât a human being alive that can truly do this (in my opinion!)
Subjectivity and opinion create debate, which is great for promoting excellent review channels like this, and sales of course, but at the end of the day, if it makes you happyâŠ.it canât be crappy!
Transparent overdrives are a thing, on a circuit design level. They're just boosting the signal in the way that an amp would react to it... This isn't that though.
The reason why the Klon is so nice is because the gain knob is a dual stack potentiometer where your clean signal is always passing through and you blend in gain to that signal.
@Just J the Ceriatone one is pretty spectacular, in my opinion probably the closest to real. The charge pump is essential.
I like putting my favorite klone clon archer pedal in the front of pedal board. Its got a good sounding buffer and it pushes other od pedals.
I'll try that for sure!
great playing mate
Thank you!
Love your playing, Buddy! Thanks for always making such great content. This video was what inspired me to purchase my first Klon clone and buy a Centura, and so far, I've been blown away by how good the clean tone sounds. I have a quick question I was hoping you could answer. I'm running my Eric Johnson Strat into the Centura into a Twin Reverb. I noticed that when I dial up the gain, I'm just not getting the same "bite" or "hair" that you get. I'm wanting to use the Centura for more than just a clean boost and actually get some of those great overdriven tones like you do starting around the 6:30 mark. Any advice or suggestions for how to get the most out of this pedal? Thank you!
Thank you for the kind words! Iâm sorry it took me 12 years to answer this comment. New phone notifications have been janky. And YES! if you can/want, out the Centura at the end of the chain and perhaps a fuzz or overdrive behind it. Turn both on, hurt the neighborâs ears and enjoy
Hands down, this is the best review of the Ceriatone Centaur (I pronounce it âSierra-toneâ). I also use it stacked with the Morning Glory and Steel String. It also sounds great with these: J Rockett Archer Clean, Mesa Boogie Tone Burst, Friedman Golden Pearl, JHS SuperBolt, JHS Charlie Brown, & TC Mojo Mojo!
Yes, yes, yes, and yes to all of the above! Thanks so much!!
So, as any Malaysian will tell you, you are pronouncing it wrong! Lol! Seriously, c=ch in Malay - it's a thing! đ€Ł
Hey Buddy, thanks for this video and great playing. I just got a Rimrock Mythical Overdrive, another great Klone, and I also use a Vertex Steel String. They both do amazing tones and are both pretty versatile. I was wondering if you could let us know how you use your Klone with the steel string, since theyâre both kinda midsy and they both seem to want to be the last pedal on the board. Thanks!
I feel like I replied to this comment already but youtube must have not posted my answer I'm sorry. I like the Vertex Steel String to be the very last thing on the board (i dont use reverb or delay). The Klon is super Mids-y but I don't find the steel string to be quite midsy.. I do run it a litttttle bright though. But anyway, klon INTO the SS is my way. Also Klon+SS is my almost ALWAYS go to sound on this board
I purchased one of these 12/2019 on Reverb Very nice. Mine is gold and has a centaur with a guitar over its shoulder. I havenât seen one of them lately. Considered selling one reverb, yesterday 2/20/2021 but after listen to you play it. I think Iâm going to hold on to it for a while.
Rock on! it is big and bulky but the tone is just there for me
Have you played a real Klon? Curious to hear peoples thoughts on the comparison.
I just bought a Gladio Preamp/Od canât wait to try it with this pedal.
I have heard so many great things about the Gladio, let me know what u think when u get it!!
Buddy Blues I got one. You have to also and I bet your going to be beside yourself. Can't wait to see your face if you get to demo one.
@kenodysseys I may or may not have one on the way. âđŒâđŒđ
Awesome playing man!
Thank you!
@@BuddyBlues your wife is so sweet to help you with your videos. She obviously enjoys your playing as well. My wife would be so bored she would not do that for me! I really appreciate that you were fearless in your approach to this test. I own an Archer Icon and tried the Jeff Beck version. I sent it back because I canât hear the difference. I plan on getting the Ceriatone now though. I just like the way it looks! Shallow? Maybe. But I thought it sounded better than the Archer in your test.
That sounded really good.
Thanks Holvin!
All of the Line 6 Helix units have the âMinotaurâ pedal and it Klonâs beautifully.. if you have one.
I had Klon #82. Best pedal on planet earth.
I have a KTR, Mythos Mjolnir, and both Archers. I like the Mjolnir best, it seems to have a fuller presence than the KTR.
I keep hearing amazing things about the mjolnir. Which means I have to buy one
I have one of these.
I believe it's pronounced "cheeriatone" like cheerios and tone.
or i think cherry-ah-tone like cherries and tone.
CERI-A-TONAAAAAAAAAYYYY
Idk but now I want a bowl of honey cheerios đđ„Ł
The Most Amazing Overdrive Pedal in the World. Makes the Klon Centour looks like a Ford...and the Centura a BMW
Agreed!
WOW!
"Most transparent of all overdrives" is hard to say.. But the closest I have tried is the JHS Morning Glory.
I haven't tried the original bluesbreaker circuit. But the Morning Glory is remarkably flat. Not actually flat. But relatively flat.
Funny thing about the Klon is that it's not very transparent at all. Like it's more transparent than a tube screamer, but only by a little and only when the gain isn't turned up too high.
Hey Buddy.
Just ordered one of these. I partially blame you. Not a bad thing. Greetings from Denmark đ©đ°
Ha! Congrats and enjoy!
it`s a great sound love mine.
@@jeffdubuque5622 cool man. I love the Klon sound. I owned another Klone at one point, and decided that I wanted something that was more true to the original. Both in terms of sound and looks.
@@rasmusnordstrm1632 cool from what i`v read this pedal uses the exact same parts they degouped the real klon.
Still seems to be missing the Harmonics of the Original Klon Centar. Not quite sure. Maybe boosting the treble or the out put.
This is a close tone and the JHS morning glory puts it closer. Nice work.
Best video I have heard with an actual Klon centar was from Music is win. CZcams chanel. Sounds insane, the sound and tone will met your brain.
He found the best way to play the pedal was to have the amp set to just slightly edge of breakup. All though he was playing through a $5000 amp a $3000 guitar and an original Klon he paid almost another $5K for. Pretty nasty habbit we all have. đ
I have the Klon KTR and the exact Centura that you are using in this review - I see no difference. I have never tried a real Klon Centaur, so I don't know how an original sounds. But, according to Bill Finnegan (the guy designed all the Klon pedals), the KTR and the Centaur sound exactly the same.
Whadayamean not a single girl watches this channel...??? Geez, that Octaland with the Klone is stunning!
đ€ŁâđŒâđŒâđŒ!! Yes! anything after the octaland sounds glorious!
Love mine, as well. One thing that's not super cool: I have the shiny chrome version, and the lettering of the labels is totally coming off! It currently says "AIN, then nothing, then UTPU. And down by the switch, it reads CENTUR. Oh well.
UTPU
Nice review. Time to over one
0:43 *yes it is*
Sort of reminds me of the Tru-fi ColorDriver
Hey man what volume did you have your amp on to get that killer tone with this pedal? You just sold me on one
Awesome! I run all my amps extremely clean so you can hear the pedal
what do you think about the Klon KTR? Bill Finnegan claims it has the same exact circuit. I've also been looking in to the Studio Daydream KCM OD
The Klon KTR is indeed made by Bill, and yes, same exact circuit. I just don't see myself paying $400+ for an overdrive pedal that I know ceriatone makes for half of that. And other companies as well.. There are plenty of Klones out there!
@@BuddyBlues true. It is very hard for me to decide haha. However, there is this retailer on reverb that claims to the studio daydream sounds better than the ceriatone (he is a dealer of both). But the daydream is 350. So, I've just been trying to decide on what to get
Yum + heat = yeet
YUHEET
How are you micâing your amp? Itâs one of the best tones Iâve heard online. Make me want another Klone! I stupidly sold my Architect awhile back.
Also it the ampâs clean channel or the gain channel set clean?
It is om the clean channel set very clean! I use a Sterling Condenser ST59 into my daw. No post processing because I don't know how to post process anything. But by your comment I see that I do not need to do any processing haha
Please make video Nux Horseman pedal
I wish I had your guitar playing skills dude
Thanks so much man! I'm surrounded by musicians that are better than me and having 4 shows a week sure put me to work!
edit: and of course your beard-growing ability too
Forget the pedal that Amp sounds Great !!!!
Magic in a box
What amp is it?
What songs weâre you playing or was most of the demoing like improvising and just playing whatever you felt it was absolutely the most killer blues Iâve heard I need to know how to play it
Thank you!! Itâs mostly all improv and whatever comes to mind in the moment
@@BuddyBlues Thanm you for replying to me and this is amazing and I hope to be able to play like this one day toođ
Owned this and really liked it but the enclosure is just too dam big and took up too big a section on my board
Try the JHS KLONE
I can't believe there's not a single person on here saying its just not as good. YEET
Could you use this with the Vertex SSS? Or would that defeat the purpose of both pedals?
Oh God yes. You can absolutely do that it'll sound huge
What is the song you start playing at 10:00? It sounds very familiar but I can't find it..
Bright Lights Gary Clark Jr
@@BuddyBlues Thanks man, how could I forget... Great channel!
Thank you!!
I just bought a gold one and mine makes the clean channel break up when Iâm playing through it when it isnât engaged. Unplugged literally everything and itâs definitely the pedal, any idea whatâs going on?
Hmm weird.. im not sure what it could be but I am certain if you email Nik from ceriatone he would be happy to help you.
@@BuddyBlues yeah so bit of an update, apparently with any guitar that has high output pick ups there is a problem with the buffer switch, it canât handle it and bleeds through like a scratchy pot, you can turn your volume down on your guitar but itâs a design flaw and the makers know about it. Iâve got an evh Wolfgang USA so the pickups are pretty hot, ended up swapping it for an archer which I think sounds better.
...until he tried to pick it out of a trio of pedals blindfolded and got it wrong! He loved the Archer and he was visibly upset that he "liked the wrong one" haha!
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł WHY WASNT THE MOST EXPENSIVE ONE THE ONE I LIKED THE MOST
@@BuddyBlues HAHAHAHA!
@@BuddyBlues Hey Buddy, I'd love to see you review the Nordvang Gravity 2.0 and or the '83. Picked up a Vertex SSS based on your and some other reviews!
The tone at 6:45 is oh so divine.
I have a suggestion for a pedal review. The tumnus deluxe. Or if youâve played one, your thoughts and opinion.
Hi. Is this pedal similar to the original Klon ? Thanks
Yes
have you tried stacking the centura with the steel string?
I have and it is glorious
@@BuddyBlues i have to try it!!
Do you still prefer the Ultraphonix?
2 different beasts, but yes. If I ever had to choose I'd go ultraphonix
What amp you using ?
czcams.com/video/6hEz_kc2jGc/video.html
Does the goop affect the tone tho?
Nah it's just to hide the components
Is this good with a fuzz?
Like peanut butter and jelly!
The Pedal uses electrolytic capacitors which can fail, then it is unrepairable - great idea???
I dnt know man I dont make the pedals I just play them đ€Ł
That octave fuzz tone could seriously get it. I want that tone inside me! đ€đŠ
SAME
They do sound cool though eh? Oh and why do folk think John Mayer is some kind of savant? I'm 47 and have been playing since I was 7 years old and there are thousands of players just like me and yourself who could probably humble young Mr. Mayer. I hear him play I don't hear anything supremely special, his earlier stuff was very good I acknowledge and like it but as far as his skill set, there are plenty who are equally as skilled if not more proficient Blues players than him.
I feel like if I agree with you I may get shot or lose half of my small but growing subscribers. But I hear you. He isn't this out of this world virtuoso, but like you said his earlier stuff was really good and his tone is phenomenal
Creatively, he's on another level to most. He's good enough to be in the top 0.1% of players but not so good that only guitar snobs can appreciate his playing.
His âbody countâ with the ladies is impressive. So thereâs that. đ
that accent.... are you from montreal?
Lebanon! But Montreal is full of Lebanese people
Mfw I'm the only girl watching this channel >_>
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł my youtube analytics have lied to me!
Not the only one! đ
@@DeltaDonnaLynn you play blues guitar also cool.
Un circuito tan bĂĄsico que se puede fabricar y sumamente excesivo el precio
Yep, the CENTURA sounds like every other clone of the Klone out there, nothing special.
How many clones can a Klon cloner clone if a klon cloner could clone klons
@@BuddyBlues if I had to wager, I'd say bang on 42.
Sounds very good. I bought one from Amelia Island Fine Guitars. They actually stock them.
