    Hi Sergey!!! I love learning Russian and about Russian culture. I am American and grew up during the Reagan/Gorbachev era. In school, we sometimes watched cross-continental live footage about how children in the USSR lived, what they liked, what games they played, and what they ate. So finding your channel is a great treat for me! I look forward to exploring your content ❤

    Use black salt, also known as Kala namak. it has a sulphur flavor that makes it taste like eggs. its a must for mayo in my opinion..
    also take an avacado that is so ripe it ie yellow inside and not green, sprinkle it with the black salt and add some pepper and a bit of vegan mayo. it will taste just like an egg with mayo. can try it without the mayo if you are not sure about it.
    also as some one who sharpens knives himself, you cannot imagine the pain i have watching you cut on metal. that instantly dulls knives. really consider wood. if you cant shave your arm with a knife in one or 2 passes, your knife is dull.

    This video was a pleasant surprise! You should do more Russian recipe videos in Russian!
    As someone who is interested in nutrition, I think it would be cool to see a video talking about your meat protein substitutes and other meat alternatives you might consume. I've tried a couple different Russian cuisines and I have found that they can sometimes be protein heavy. Have you found different ways to veganize such dishes, like пельмени или пирожки, or do you ignore them entirely?

    • @InRussianFromAfar
      @InRussianFromAfar  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you, Isiah! Yeah, maybe I will do a video about “where do I get my protein from?😉 I did make vegan pirozhki before with potatoes or with cabbage) I’d love to eat vegan dumplings, but it it’s quite heavy food, so maybe later))

    I’m very interested in this recipe Sergey, and will try it for myself. Why do you peel the carrots and potatoes? Is this just the traditional way of doing things for Russians, or is there some other reason? In England some people peel vegetables and some leave the skins on, as we do. Baked potato skins in particular are delicious.

    • @InRussianFromAfar
      @InRussianFromAfar  Před 2 lety

      That’s a very good question, Carol. Usually, we also don’t peel potato, but for the salad we would peel it, to make it softer and smoother) it’s also depends if it’s organic vegetable or not.
