  • We have done a little demo/ comparison video showing how the sounds differ between the Korg KROME and Korg KROSS workstations. We do not demonstrate the differences in technical abilities between the products, this is just focused on the sounds of the instruments to show how good each product is. How do you think they compare?

    Direct comparison begins at: 03:25. Rather well done, I'd say.
    I listened through decent headphones and hear differences, but they seem quite closely matched.

    Wow. KROME sounds much more amazing than KROSS. I own KROSS and I still love it for its portability and versatility with audio mixing, plus it can play with batteries. Thanks for this. I might consider getting KROME for home use though.

      +Jeremy Jay Lim I bought the Kross88 a year ago and used it for a three month period on an Island in the south Pacific with more than normal humidity having to set it up 5 days a week (only 26lbs.) with no problems. I still have a Korg pa3xpro 76 (super great workstation) at home with semi-weighted keys which is a bit more difficult and less inspirational for any pianist than the weighted of the Kross88. I am about to invest in the Krome88 basically for the screen, sound quality and presumed versatility as a workstation. I travel a lot and very often internationally and the pa3xpro is super expensive to fly and carry through airports. I wish to keep it home. The Krome88 is lighter and seemingly more versatile than the Kross88. I need to investigate just a bit more.

      Many thanks for the comment. I am about to order it and I think I will have 30-45 days to check it out. There is one important but not decisive question I have. Do you know if you can see lyrics on the screen like on my pa3x?

      Much appreciation for the response. When I arrived home from the gig in the South Pacific and played the pa3x's piano, what I thought was going to happen, happened. I knew I would miss the piano touch and sound the Kross offered. Already booked to return in June, I know I made the right decision to sell to the hotel. I just hope that I will be that happy with the Krome until then.

    I think the choice of sounds/voices for the Kross in the 1st part of the video was poor -- compared to those chosen for the Krome. The Kross sounds had much more sonority than the Krome -- which, I think, made the Krome sound 'cleaner'. I don't think either sounded as good in this YT video as they really are.

    kross presets sounds brighter, more fun and rocky :), despite the price; I briefly tried X50 years ago and liked it a lot; but today, I am looking for juno-ds vs kross (and most important is out of the box creativity and inspiration - the kross soundsnice too) - I know that advices are not so usefull than to try it myself, but have somebody one?

So y'all probably know the outcome of that hehe i was so happy cus then later tonight I have a huge gig! And now I'm very excited

      IKESQUARED
      Hello!
      would you please advise if Krome has notably improved sound quality compared to Kross. I'm about to buy keyboard soon. Money is not a problem, but I like Kross' direct line input (guitar,mike) and convenient sequencer button line. I'm aiming at 88 version on both.
      So, my decision would go in favor of "better sound quality", since I'm interested into hi-fi music production, recording and perhaps selling it.
      I was listening to some sound comparisons between the two online , but I have heard only difference in sound, can't distinguish if sound is "good" or "bad", or how refined is it.
      Thanks!!!

    Honestly, what was the point of this video? You of all people should know that the Kross, while a nice enough synth, is an entry-level, stripped down version of the Krome. While Korg did throw in some extras that the Krome doesn't have, and it is based on the same synth engine, there is just no way it can stand "toe-to-toe" with the Krome sound-wise...

    Wow..Whats the price range for these keyboards? They cant be much. They both sound bad to me. Id give the slight adavtage to the kross. But these sound horrible compared to the pa900. I guess thats the difference with a synth vs arranger keyboard.

    • @achamilton
      @achamilton  Před 10 lety +4

      These products are not keyboards as such and are workstations which means they operate in an entirely different way. The PA900 is a keyboard with backing styles. A workstation does not have backing styles. It has arpeggiators which are cleverly designed to allow the users to do a number of things when playing live but not really made to work like a keyboard i.e. not made to be played with chords (but sometimes it works!). It works best for giving the user ideas when played like 'piano style' and then, on a workstation, you can then get right into the depths of editing and creating much more so than the usual keyboard allows. Sound wise a workstation will compete with the best of the best keyboards when compared sound for sound and quite often cost less.

      Kross is not bad product. Its easy to use, lightweight, cheap and can play on batteries. Kross control style and design reminds me korg microstation. Krome costs 2 times more then Kross, new Kross is just $700. I do not think its bad product. Krome is good for people who can't afford Kronos but want something similar.

    • @ShanMichaelEscasio
      @ShanMichaelEscasio Před 9 lety +4

      Kim Diez idiot! Do you even know how to play a keyboard? Lol! Stop bashing other products and people's choices! You know what? I own a Portasound yamaha psr530, a 90s model and it's considered an arranger and i learned lots from it including splits and layers and registration memories and banks and these things now become the features that i prioritze in choosing a keyboard (sound quality is obviously included) and you know what? You might call my first board a toy. But it's very durable and i have exploited every feature it had to offer. So let me tell you to shut the hell up, stop bashing, practice your keyboard, respect others and don't act smug. I also owned a juno d which was crappier than kross but i was able to use all it's features to my advantage. And when i get my kross? I'll show you how a professional player can make that toy sound like a pro!

    • @tronicvision-misic
      @tronicvision-misic Před 9 lety +2

      The great thing about workstations is that you have to put in WORK to achieve the sound/groove you want. Yes these boards are inexpensive, but they hold a lot of meat & spuds. I bought the Kross platinum 88 with the sole intent to WORK Kross to the limit just like I did my Triton Extreme 76 for 11 yrs. Now I gots me a 27 pound 88 key WORK station which WORKS so well with my Extreme 76 WORK station. I'm a happy camper!!!!!!!!!

For the money u can't beat the cross for a songwriting scratchpad. Plus u can plug a guitar in it and use the sequencer. No other keyboard does that unless u want to get a Roland GI but that doesn't have 16 tracks....
