    Korg came in to see us today and show us the amazing new KORG KROME Keyboard.
    We persuaded them to let us film a short video showing some of its amazing sounds and creativity. It was so secret we had to hide away in Capt Lee's office for the video.
    The Korg Krome 61 is a new beast of a professional's workhorse keyboard! The Krome sits at a middle price bracket that will appeal to both pros and aspiring students especially when you consider that the Korg Krome borrows many of its sounds and functionality from the hugely popular Kronos series of high end workstation keyboards. The 61 Key version is perfect for those that value affordability and compactness and yet still boast five full octaves.
    The Krome is packed with 4GB of samples including a whopping 2.8GB of acoustic piano samples and 600MB of electric pianos (Rhodes, Dyno, Wurlitzer etc) sampled in astounding detail to recreate ever nuance of your playing. Then factor in the drum sequencer with hundreds of pre-played grooves recorded by studio pros, with plenty of space for user sequences too! What you get is a hugely powerful, incredible sounding workstation keyboard for an unbelievably affordable price point!

    And all the tracks has its own volume/VU Level when the music is playing in the sequencer mode. So, as the M50 is the younger brother of the M3, The Krome is to the Kronos. I say the screen is colored and neat looking. :-)

    As someone who is a keyboardist and has 24 years experience with Korg workstations,I do have far more than a clue.
    Enough so to realize that you NEED the large LCD display to have a level of workflow similar to that of a PC DAW,to have the ability to create songs WITHOUT a computer...as there is a significant demand for such a feature,not just live use.
    PC integration is an equally popular demographic in the market & Korg has met this demand very well in the budget arena.

    oh my god and i've been saving to buy the korg M50, finally got the money, good thing i havent ordered it yet. Should probably save a bit more and buy the krome instead (Was gonna buy a used m50). What do you guys think? was gonna use it mainly for synth leads and strings/harpsichord

  • @rtofvnt
    @rtofvnt Před 12 lety

    I'm actually half way through with savings for M50, but this is game changer. Small issue I've got with this new one - it's got the same fx sections (numbers wise - 5 inserts, 2 sends and 1 master) however I think the size of the screen and resolution will make it perfect tool instead combination of PC + VST + my microx. Biiiig thing is about this 4GB of memory and properly sampled piano. I'm not great piano player, but if the price will remain around 800GBP - it's a winner anyway.

    Nice sound and quality, but the problem on this krome, it cannot sustain the previous patch it cut the sound when you change the patch or voice.. Play piano and hit the sustain pedal, then try to select another voice like you choose string or brass. in the same time the piano will not remain sustain even if you hold the sustain pedal..

    This may sell better then the Kronos and you won't have as much money in it when the next
    model comes out, and they always do so you can dump it and get the next one without as
    much loss. Sounds like a pretty good way do go. It would be easier to sell down the road since its weight is light and good for gigging. More market to sell it to when you upgrade to the next model which there is always a next model down the road. One good reaso not to
    put alot of money in these boards.

  • @GavinMcCloy

    I noticed quite a few sounds from the Korg M3 (on the strings preset screen) which in fact i'm quite happy about, I loved the string sounds in the M3 but it was just too heavy to gig with all the time, since invested in a Yamaha MOXF which is an outstanding piece of gear, I have a question though, is this synth 100% sample based? are there any analog modelling engines within? also can you load samples into it or new oscillators?

    I did the combi from blank, choose my sounds at different banks and named them X bank for piano, strings and so on for my favorites. They have stayed on mute so I have had to memorize many of them for live playing. • @rivalo5
    @rivalo5 Před 12 lety

    I would get a Yamaha MOX. Probably cheaper. Even if this keyboard has more PCM. It has and direct editing without trying to drag stuff on small outdated touchscreen. The MOX is also more into Performances (on the KROME: Combinations) playing sound with a bit arrangement playing from an Appegiator, the KROME seems more for people who want an expensive stage piano for in Church. Or making R&B

I'm not sure I'm going to start lusting after one of these because I'm already having an affair with the KRONOS which, as we all know, is the best thing KORG or anyone else has ever produced. x

  • @jantristian
    @jantristian Před 12 lety

    The Krome is clearly a replacement for the aging M50.... its also out to compete against the Yamaha MOX6 in the lower synth price range. Not everyone can afford the Kronos Or Motif XS/XF workstation. The 4 Gb sounds will nicely push synth into a higher level. 1 misery of the M50 was its Piano sounds..which was very average.. The German Piano on Krome will be very nice in year 2012 for a buget synth, the colour touch screen also shows the aging M50 time is almost up....

    Fast forward to 6:19 - 6:30.
    Notice that it takes a minimum (6) keystrokes to change from BANK C: Patch 117: "Jungle Bass 2" -- to -- BANK A 001: "E.Piano Mark 1 (r&b)". And notice it takes about :10 secs to make the patch change.
    This is unacceptable for live gigging.
