love the journey from "I. HATE. HORROR MOVIES" to "I. HATE. WATCHING HORROR MOVIES" to just straight up "WELCOME ON IN"
“Hi, I’m Kat, and I no longer hate horror movies.”
Aka: One of us. One of us.
I never understood that channel motto. She never really hated them.
😂
@beestingza
Probably less that are hates them because she finds them boring or dumb and probably more like she hates them because they're scary
At least that was my interpretation because I've done that where I'll watching something like say Lake Mungo and say something like "I hate Ghosts!" Or "I hate this!"
Gooble, Gobble, One of Us 😜😂
This is one of my most favorite movies along side Hellhouse franchise
If memory serves, this was the first film given permission to film on location in the real Paris catacombs.
Yup. This movie is gonna blow her mind.
Squandered opportunity.
Correct and, they were afraid the whole time that someone would run off or become “insane”
@@smiffy68To each their own, but anything done out of joy is no squandered opportunity, for anyone involved, and you can tell this movie was enjoyable to work on.
@@smiffy68why squandered?
If you hadn't noticed, the guy that briefly appeared to tell Scarlett where to find Papillon was Papillon's brother that died in the burning car. An angry spirit that wanted revenge possibly?
He could’ve wanted his redemption. Pap could’ve said “I’m sorry” instead of “It wasn’t my fault”
Seen this movie so many times and never noticed that, crazy.
@@daphneglasurus7886 Or that, or it just wanted to put everything in motion for everyone, good or bad.
The kid that appears in the water…. Is the kid the other one is ignoring. They all have their inner demons to fight.
Me chuckling to myself when Kat says "for some reason I don't think this is going to be very scary"
famous last words
Lol, right?
"this is why you dont go chasing.... Waterfalls, N O T H I N G" lolololol
And don't want no scrubs!
When you in the gates of Hell, you gotta be quiet, you gotta creep…creep
@@xredbeardx oh come on - that one doesnt even.... - you know youre doing that!
So the really cool part about this movie is it's following Dante's Inferno and the 9 levels of Hell. Each encounter had something to do with their own personal sins. All this movie needed was "The Thinker" statue (which isn't actually called The Thinker but was nicknamed that by a journalist) in front of the entrance. The statue was of Dante contemplating his morality before the gates of Hell.
It was supposed to be of him using the bathroom, since there is nary a one in any circle, no matter how many times I've complained. You know someone once pissed in one of the pits meant for the damned?!? Horrible. Let them be damned in peace, please!
@@RealBradMiller lol oh my "The Stinker"
What I love about this moview is that they actually use their knowledge and wits instead of running around screaming.
This move is such an underrated gem. And I feel it truly deserves its happy ending.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
But is it **really** a happy ending?
In my head canon, they need to make a sequel "As Below, So Above", because they didn't actually make it back home, they made it to Hell or some kind of "backwards world" inside the Earth... The whole "emerging upside down" thing seems to hint at it, or at least "make you wonder" if they really actually made it home, or if they made it to some kind of backward/upside-down/"wrong" mirror world, and they now need to try to actually make their way back "above" from "below"?
@@MGmirkinEnding I saw they all get attacked after escaping, as they have opened the gates of hell, and demons have been released... This ending I only caught recently.
This movie in a nutshell:
Everyone: “Scarlet, NO!!!!”
Scarlet: “Scarlet, yes.”
😂😂😂
Ah, my favourite TFS running gag.
This movie is always a treat to see people reacting! I’m ready for all the “no please”s and shadow boxing! 😂
The scene with the car on fire was the only scene not shot in the catacombs for obvious reasons. I believe it was filmed in an abandoned rock quarry.
V.I.T.R.I.O.L., that's what George whispered to Scarlett after he got mauled. Alchemical Acronym for: Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem. Translation: "Visit the Earth's interior parts - by rectification you shall find the hidden stone."
Don’t go chasing waterfalls… stick to the rivers and the streams that you’re used to… Feels like the moral of this story. 😂
Also that inspirational bit at the end really resonated.
“I don’t think this will be very scary”😭 oh honey you’ve got a big storm coming
😂😂😂
I watched this movie with a friend when we were at university. My roommate was using our room, so my friend and I were trying to find a dark room to watch the movie, but the common room had a light on that never went off, even in power outages. We ended up in the laundry room in the pitch black. During a really intense part of the movie, someone opened the door to do his laundry and we screamed so loud he dropped his laundry and jumped back out of the room.
I love seeing Kat’s channel grow and grow. You’re my favourite horror reaction channel right up there with Alanda and Zavid.
also my favs! and Caitlin aka "she's scared"
@@kaylabritnell9560 YEP forgot to mention Miss Caitlin
Alanda is so amazing. Her one liners are just unstoppable.
Woohoo Kat doesn’t hate, or hates watching, horror movies anymore 🥳😉
"The holes are getting smaller and smaller" 😂
Also I think you should react to Green Room (2015)! I just watched it last night and it's so good
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Pap keeps smearing his name all over the walls.
the directors of this film also directed one of the most disturbing films ever..THE POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES
Didn´t know it was the same director. I really like this one. Now I'll check out Poughkeepsie. Thanks for the info.
That movie is sooooo disturbing WOW but definitely a must see if you can stomach it of course lol
Was going to say, now that Kat's seen As Above, So Below, The Poughkeepsie Tapes should at least be in the conversation. But hoo boy, that one is not an easy watch.
Great movie!
I don’t think it’s fair to even ask a reactor to watch TPT lol. Trauma disguised as a horror movie
I'm French and I've met one of the actresses who plays in this movie (the creepy woman). We talked about her playing a role in one of my films when I was in film school, but it never happened, her schedule was too busy to shoot in this student film, if I remember right. So I took another actress instead. She's very nice.
Btw, this movie is titled Catacombes, here in France.
The Catacombs is such a fascinating/creepy place. We have traveled and been multiple times (as seen on my channel here). I personally still want to go back and go further/deeper into them.
There's actually another movie called "The Catacombs" [in English] that also takes place in the Catacombs... Not nearly as Paranormal / mythical, etc., tho'...
I'll have to find that one.
I think this movie flew under the radar but definitely entertaining. Of course watching it with you makes it even better ❤
We've talked about Ready Or Not plenty of times, so I'm gonna suggest Fall to watch at some point. It's a good movie, but mostly after you watch it you can watch a reaction video of Fall where you got a shoutout!
"He's charming. This will be a disaster." Smooth transition! Suggestions: Rosemary's Baby, and Videodrome.
😂😂
Ok some suggestion that searching thru your video history didn’t bring up. Not sure these are technically horror, but maybe you can have a suspense event or something: Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, At Worlds End), Sixth Sense, Signs, The Village, Get Out, Nope. All good stuff!!
Standby and second every film you mentioned. Cornetto trilogy would be a great 4th of July week/month movie... Idk why, just cause... Lol
Adding one more - Time After Time, a time travel Jack the Ripper story that ends up in the 1970s
Definitely all the M Night Shyamalan ones! I think Kat would love The Village
Been awhile since I read about it but, if I remember right, Dante’s Inferno was a major source for this movie.
And that figure sitting in that chair/throne is supposed to be Satan.
And the depiction of "Hell" is more along the lines of the Jewish "Sheol" which is basically just a dark, dusky, cold place of the dead. Less so than the fiery infernal lake where folks are tortured for all eternity, etc. Granted, they also kinda' put in some more horror-ific stuff like biting mummies or whatever, and the figure on the throne, which could be Satan or could be Abaddon (basically the name of the deepest darkest bit of Sheol/Gehenna and/or the ruler thereof, basically the "angel of destruction" or some such).
🎶Dont go chasing catacombs,
Please stick to the grottos and the graveyards you're used to
I know you're gonna have it your way or v.i.t.r.i.o.l, but I think the rumbling shall pass
Young Papillon had a natural possession
For exultation, but he just couldn't stay
Flaming metal gave him something that his brother can't handle
But all he can say is, "little bro, it wasn't me."
One day he goes and takes a glimpse in the rearview mirror
But he doesn't recognize that old place
His fire's fading and he doesn't know why
Three letters took him to his final resting place(CAR)
Y'all don't hear me🎵
Sign me up as a Song Finch employee because damn that is good, if I can toot my own horn!!
Be careful with that; the one time I tried to toot my own horn, I pulled something in my neck.
Good job on the parody lyrics, though.
Basically a more modern adaption of Dante's inferno
The real horror of this movie is that it's inspired by true events considering that many people have genuinely been lost in the tunnels of Paris. Apparently, even after the movie, people still got lost down there, including two teens in 2017 who authorities thankfully found alive.
I remember seeing 'real' footage on the History channel around Halloween as a kid... Frightened the absolute heck out of me!
20:16 - Right? You’d have me there like “Who was Copernicus?”
I so enjoy your videos, Kat! I'm a huge horror fan (for decades) and watch them just like you - a full emotional journey! Including the shouting and hiding... So fun! Would love to watch May with you or, a true classic from the beforetimes... Whatever Happened to Baby Jane.
I would love to see Kat react to movies that aren't horror. She has such great reactions and I love her humour!
"You're not getting out of here without at least four Masters degrees." 😂😂🤣😂
Chuuzus and Jay recommended your channel during their joint reaction a month ago and I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally look you up! I love your reactions and it's so nice to have another member added to my personal HRCCM (Horror Reaction Commentators Cinematic Universe)! You, Zzavid, Chuuzus, Jay Meets World, Alanda Parker, Nicksaysboo, and the Horror Bandwagon boys are keeping me FED ❤❤
I join this universe if allowed because I also watch all of them religiously, starting from Zzavid (he’s an og imo)
We missed you Kat🫶 (Only been like 7 days) 😅
I love the underlying theme that knowledge, and wisdom can overcome almost any obstacle. It is interesting though, that there's not any confirmation that where they climbed out actually was the world they came from. Maybe it was, or maybe it was a continuation of Hell, or it could have been another world all together.
Happy to see more of you reacting to my faves, but also missing your reactions on site, like reacting to this from a cave or something
It sounds like a movie about the fact that I have no discernible waist! I can't wait to watch your reaction!
This is the ACTUAL tomb raider movie... but secretly... it really is!
That's what i think every time i see it! It's basically "Lara Croft goes to hell". Then i start wishing _any_ official tomb raider stuff was that cool.
@@existenceisrelative All 5 of the original games had strong supernatural/horror elements
@@catodahlia8449 And you honestly feel like they're as cool as the idea of Lara Croft going into _literal hell?_
@@existenceisrelative Yes, I think Atlantis at the end of the first game is more unique and original than a regular old Hell setting. The idea of Atlantis actually being a fleshy monstrous hell scape filled with horrific abominations hatching out of eggs is fucking awesome and unique. Lara going to hell would be cool of course, but the games have done some awesome shit as well
Yes finally this movie! Next watch the VHS movies 🙏
Omg yes! At least the first two!
I have prayed for times like this !! I’m so happy you’re finally watching this !! This is my favorite horror movie !!
Enclosed spaces... the REAL horror of this movie.
😂😂
7:41 - You had me literally "LOL'ing" over here, Kat! 😂
Hello Kat!, I follow you from Spain. I recommend a movie that is a little unknown but already has a cult following. The movie is called "The Tunnel." I think you'll love.
What's ironic is that below our ocean it was discovered that over 700cm below - is another ocean even bigger than the one we have on our surface. ...... I think you should watch The Cave.
Hi Kat. I just recently found your channel and I absolutely adore your content. No other creator has held my attention the way that you do. You are effortlessly funny utterly adorable and endlessly entertaining. Ive been unwell and really needed the distraction, so thank you so much! You are the best and please never change 😊!
I loved exploring the Paris Catacombs on multiple occasions, the illegal side, not the tourist stuff (as seen on my channel here). It is quite a trip but not for the faint of heart lol. And yes, it "houses" approximately 6-7 million human remains.
Love this one! The darkness and claustrophobia intensify the scares so much. Thanks, Kat!
Same on claustrophobia.
🤣😂"This is why we don't go chasing.... waterfalls... Nothing." 😂🤣
(watches the cieling crack and crumble) "Is that bad?"
"No, no- it's good."
Literally what I said when I saw this movie for the first time LMFAOO
It's always a good day when a new Kat video pops up. Loved the reaction. Loved the coaching and punching. Looking forward to the next one. Silent Hill would be great lol
Just like in harry potter the only ones to be able to use the stone and survive were the ones who didnt desire the stone in the first place. She wanted to find it but never for personal gain, she was always willing to leave it behind. The other two had no interest in being there. The others died because of greed, the stone saw it and took them.
For those not paying attention: This is the decent through hell out of Dante's Inferno, the nine levels of hell.
Love this movie, traditional thriller not a horror. And yes they survive at the end, but on what mortal plane?
People don't read Dante anymore?
“Is this Blair witch meets the descent?” 🥹 with the references, so proud
You have to go like 20 miles down before you hit the mantle, don't worry! 😆
Unless of course you start in the Challenger Deep...?
@@Savatage1964 Much less from the bottom of the ocean, absolutely! 20ish miles under solid land though
@@srahhh Ok. Would that be from the coast or... Everest?
😅😅😅😅😅
Just having some fun with you.
Cheers
@@Savatage1964 No worries at all-- you sound just like my dad! 🤣
As above, so below is an occult saying from centuries ago. The Hermetic 'wizards' used it to refer to the idea that if one or more supernatural beings created the world, you can make deductions about the nature of those beings by observing the world they created.
I don't know how I missed this! This is one of my favorite suspense movies of all time. It has the perfect mix of everything, and who doesn't want to take a trip into the Paris catacombs?
Ah yes, one of my favorite horror films. So deliciously dismal and foreboding in it's atmosphere.
"Lasciate ogni speranza voi ch'entrate" -Dante Aligheri ✨
One of my favorite things about this movie is that it has real principles of alchemy in it if you're into that sort of thing. All of those questions you were asking at the end? I love that it has that effect on people. It's an excellent gateway for the curious.
Dunno why, but this makes me think of the 2013 Canadian horror “Afflicted”. It’s awesome too 👌
It’s sadly unavailable these days
@@daphneglasurus7886 In the US. Found everywhere in a lot of other countries.
Please never stop. Your reactions are the best!
Just for those that don’t know: Nicolas Flamel was *REAL* person [He was a French scribe and alchemist] There’s an awesome behind the scenes feature they did for the making of this film and *YES* it was filmed in parts of the *ACTUAL* Paris catacombs.
Side note:
Yes, they do still do that in Syria.
He is a real person, though frail as a broken twig now. He knocked a book off his desk and broke a toe completely off two weeks ago. He assumed gluing it on would fix it... 😬
THE S T R A N G E R S
The Descent meets Tombraider meets The Last Shift.
Seeing any Kat videos appear in my CZcams feed always makes me happy. I keep meaning to suggest you watch Sleepy Hollow. I don't know why, but I love it and think you might like it.
Wet socks are the true horror of any movie.
The 'Kat-Fu' you unleash whenever you're scared makes me crack up every time. 😄
Yasss, Queen. I LOVE this film. I know you're going to enjoy this one and call out lots of "silly, silly" moments!
The Philosopher's Stone predates Harry Potter and has its roots in alchemy. It is a powerful alchemical catalyst that is able to transform metals to gold and grant the elixir of life.
Looooove this film, it’s so underrated. Great choice for a reaction, can’t wait to see what you thought of it!
Not trying to be a contrarian but I feel like it's the most overrated movie in horror like.. ever.
@@DollaBoy2202 I commend any horror film that can make something original in a world full of remakes and sequels. I really enjoyed this film but I can see how it may not be for everybody.
39:34 The cameraman caught a glimpse that the weird lady around the club was a ghost, and he caught it on video, but he didn't bring that to everyone's attention. He could have saved them the trouble of even going down there.
im surprised no one is suggesting the VHS series. its pretty solid horror
When Kat uploads, I click.
Cloverfield would be a good follow-up for this one. It mostly takes place above ground:).
I watched this literally two times in succession... then two more time after that within a couple days.
This was a trippy damn movie that took "lost footage" films to the next level.
And this was just 6 months ago.
Same. And when you deep dive into the story and the what and why things are happening, it takes the movie to a whole new level of creepiness. This is one of those movies I share with friends or family.
"The Dark and the Wicked". Trust me, RUN IT!
So when you first made your page I made a comment, “Please watch As Above So Bellow!!!!” Thank you! This is my favorite horror movie of all time!
Yep, also been requesting this one pretty much every movie since inception. ;)
Now, if she'll do "Grave Encounters," I'll be a super happy camper! ;)
Then maybe "The Pyramid," "Friend Request," "Come Play," "Mama," "The Night House," "Oculus," and a few others...
Besides the tourist attraction, there are many kilometers of tunnels under Paris. Many years ago when I was young and studying in Paris in the 80's, my girlfriend introduced me to a group of people who knew unauthorized entrances to them to explore at night. So, I had the privilege of going with them one time. It was weird and fantastic but don't get separated from the group. I suppose that youngsters still do that today.
"It's our life, and it is what we make of it." Scarlett got a bunch of people killed.

You totally nailed your take away. As above so below coming from the ancient hermetic text known as the emerald tablets, supposedly written by legendary alchemist Hermes. The philosophy teaches how we can create our own realities through the process of mental alchemy. The all is the mind; the Universe is mental.
