Also painting different scale models and miniature busts! How to paint NMM. How to paint warhammer, how to paint D&D figures. - Jak na to + styl
Which one do YOU like best? Let me know!
The kroot collector is my absolute favourite. Not only is it obviously painted marvelously, but I just love the story it tells! Such a unique and interesting concept!
That non-metalic Theoden is amasing!
Death Korps and Kroot!
The beastmen! And it was really cool and helpfull to see how you have improved each year!
@@AuroraDE95 thanks!
it's probably my favourite mini to this day. Kroot offer so much fun opportunities - I still have two funny dioramas from back in the day that I should really finish...
You should make a video where you “repaint” a old golden demon mini, remake it from scratch in the current year then compare them side by side
That is actually a really good idea and something I would definitely watch
First thing I thought of when he talked about the nurgle marine.
Scan and print via 3d printer,?
but it's boring to paint the same subject :x
Would love to see that Death Guard marine converted in a similar pose and with a similar but improved look using the modern plague marine kits
It's a nice breath of fresh air seeing an artist taking pride in their work instead of ripping it apart! Very constructive for both us and you :D
I had those in waaaay worse memory than they are to be honest when I started the video.
"ALL my Golden Demon winners..." I am SO far out of my depth here!
I remember staring at all of these in White Dwarf wondering what wizardry was able to produce these incredible miniatures. This was really interesting, thanks man.
same. It was after I'd been out of mini painting for a few years and a friend's bro said "hey, check out the golden demon winners in this years white dwarf". I was like...woah...it's so dusty. like green but....not green. This guy is really pushing mini painting in a new direction. cool" that would have been about 2003/04. Who'd have thought I'd come across your channel all these years later.
The rubric marines sorcerors aren't dust. So it is actually lore friendly.
Actually, some are! None of the Scarab Occult are dust as they have a really strong Psychic connection. Some sorcerers don’t have as strong a connection.
@@joshuagraham5750 Where does it say some Sorcerors are dust? The lore that I've always seen is only the non-psychic Thousand Sons turned to dust and all Psykers got buffed.
@@Tonberry88 That's how I understood it as well
@@Tonberry88 from what I remember it's been changed that all the TS are psykers in some way and only the strong ones didn't change
@@busterbackster1 Are the ones that changed still psykers though? I'm not too familiar with modern 40k lore
That Death Corp at the end is amazing. The detailing on the coats is unreal
I remember seeing the last 2 in person! It was when I got a commended award for my first entry and was so inspired after seeing your work. Sadly didn't get to meet you though.
The kroot collector is beautiful as well as the death Kreig horseman....damn nice
I remember being super impressed with those beastmen back when I saw them. The paint job is great, but what really made me think "wow" was how great the sculpts were. I've mucked around with green stuff a fair bit and I can't imagine sculpting detailed anatomy like that 5 times over and having it look consistent across the entire squad.
Thank you. Very brave to critique your own work. That 2018 entry at the end is phenomenal.
I really really like the design of the Nurgle Marine. Don't get me wrong, GW's sculpts for the modern Death Guard are great, but I really like the simplicity in this design without the need for gore, mutations or huge horns. It's refreshing. It has a WW2 feel that I think has been overshadowed in modern Death Guard.
yes, I love the simplicity too.
A rubric is dust, but there's always a sorcerer with them who is still an astartes.
man, those beastmen are definitely my favourites! love the idea of them wearing banners as loincloths and wielding those beautiful shields
Me: "Holy shit, that is one gorgeous miniature, I love it!"
You: "Yeah, the freehand here is rather... naive.."
Me: "Did I stutter?!"
Thank you so much for this video! I'm not painting miniatures or anything, but it was so enjoyable to listen to an artist-craftsman criticising their past job!
this is one of my favourite painting related vids on youtube, to see the progression and style changes was really informative, a video diary of painting a golden demon would be amazing
Amazing video. Thanks so much. I get a huge amount of value from listening to an artist actually talking about what went into their work., Inspirations and what they think about it now. Your early style reminds me of the Italian painting technique sfumato that was used by the greatest painters!
Got this sudden vision of you in your basement saying 'It puts the brown shade on the mini else it gets the hose again.'
Lmao
@@trovarion great video btw.
Doesn't rhyme.
As a recent subscriber, I didn't realise you were such an impressive sculptor as well as a master painter! Really inspiring video, thanks
Thank you for sharing your toughts! I think this video was super interesting. Fun to see how you go back to certain techniques like shading with brown in several entries. That gives a specific look overall in my opinion, really kool!
Amazing models matey, well done! LOVE those beastmen
Awesome video, really like the in depth long format commentary!
Patreon supporter not only for your painting techniques but for your analysis of a piece. It’s a chance to view your knowledge and understanding of the craft. Thanks so much
I learned a lot by listening to professional style feedback. Thank you for taking the time to review these works.
And here i am trying to get a straight highlight on an outstanding bit of cloth. Damn.
Absolutely loved that Theoden model.
That deathcorps of krieg and the kroot collector are just amazing. Thank you for sharing this!
Hi, hab deinen CZcams Kanal gerade endeckt und bin begeistert !!! Oida !
I enjoyed every minute! Thanks 🙏🏽
I'd have to say your krieg piece is my favourite. I actually love both the horse color and the dust aswell, both was very important for drawing me in!
Theoden is really nice aswell, the brightness on the top of his forehead and hair really make me feel the light🙂
Fantastic pieces!
Great video, it's very interesting to see your long artistic way through all your winning entries. My favorites are the Beastmen and Theoden ! Thanks for sharing.
Theoden looks awesome, one of my favourite minis since release, and you painted it like a true master.
I loved this video, I really like these "breakdown" style videos!
Love it and the format! Thank you for making it!
Glad you enjoy it!
Super Sache Christoph!
Great video, not only is it a blast from the past to the early 2000's when I would religiously browse the GW site for hobby inspiration, but it is great to see a compilation of all your winning models in one place.
Ahh these are all so great! Height of my Warhammer obsession was 2002-2010, (entered UK Golden Demon a few times but no joy) so major nostalgia here. Glad to have found your channel :)
I think this was fascinating. Great stuff. Keep pushing the envelope. Loved it.
Thanks for the great video it was awesome to hear you talk about what you where thinking at the time and to see how your style for competition changed over time. Would love to see for videos on your conversions and sculptures
Fantastic video! Great to see your journey and lots of interesting and useful knowledge passed on! 👌🏼
These were super cool to see! Thanks for sharing :-)
It's interesting to note the themes and techniques that matter and those that don't in that competition.
You're clearly very talented as well as humble. Your work is amazing and thank you for sharing it with us and giving such honest opinions. I love the minotaurs and Kroot collector the most
Great work! Amazing sculpting and freehand. Great nmm. Love the Bret and the last one the most.
Top video as always man, really helpful to see how you progressed as an artist, it gives us all hope. I personally really liked the Theoden paint job :)
So cool, like them all! Never played any 40k but had fun painting a while back.
I like the last one the best. The pale horse looks better for contrast and I like the dry dusty look to it. You are an amazing painter. Thanks for doing this one.
Thanks for this; I enjoyed watching : )
It's very refreshing to see artists who talk good about and have faith in their own work. As an artist for video games, it is very common for artists to talk down on their own work. You give rational, thought-out reasons for things you could have improved on back then. Its obvious to see how you are such an accomplished painter. Cheers!
i started sculpting and painting figurines recently and your videos are such a great help and seeing what can be done at a high level is definetly motivating.
i would love some more sculpting tutorials!
i'm sorry that my fellow french gave you a hard time, but don't mind us, fussing is a way of life for us...
anyway, thanks for sharing you knowledge and experience. as you said, you tube tutorials such as yours makes progressing so much easyer.
Great video. I like the retrospective.
Absolutely amazing work, love the collector! He's amazing!
You keep being amazing Trov, nice to see all thoose minis. I still need to learn to art :P
That was a really nice idea for a video. And your new studio looks great, by the way :-)
I appreciate your deprecatory restraint! Fan for life!
dafuk dude. so critical of your old work. was still amazing.
Wow.
I am here to see you, the content you make in all its form are awesome. Keep it up!
I really like the Kroot Collector. Well done!
I really appreciated seeing this collection. It's very interesting and cool to see.
Love to see you doing a series re-imagining your early works
Great quality video both in editing and video quality and information! Really like the videos focused on the theory of painting,
So many great models. So much talent!
Those 2013 Beastmen are my favourite (so far at least...) Absolutely love those - as you say they tell a story, and I love the general style of them. Gorgeous!
While I was watching some other video I had the itch that I know your face and with this video it actually confirms it since I know most of those older models from being displayed in the GW! I remember you giving me some tips for my Youngbloods model I was painting at that time. Great that you are doing well, awesome paint-jobs.
Cool!
Amazing video!
The Kroot was my favorite. Great job!
Great content overall. Keep up the great work.
awesome video we kind of forget the perspective of the models when we see them in video. its when you have them in your hands is when you realise the details and blends etc. we all would be proud to have just one golden demon award you should be proud of all your models. remember paints and brushes and tools have changed over the time. everything you have done is awesome.
They are all incredible wow. Very nice. Thanks
Third time watching this video
Love the tone and the miniatures
Learning so much just hearing you talk about your tought process!
Thank you for awesome videos and great inspiration
Your hairstyle is very unique !!! Chapeau
Congrats on the past awards, even more for being able to call out your own flaws and the knowledge to fix it.
Oh boy, I love that Bretonnian knight!
I really enjoyed that. The knight on the horse and the Kroot were awesome... and you should've won with your beastmen I think.
The jump in quality of painting across all levels of the hobby thanks to CZcams blows my mind. I consider myself an OK painter (after 20 years on and off 🤣) and whilst your work from the mid 2000's was exceptional at the time that's about the level I'm at now, like a lot of other people, whereas you are actual leagues ahead putting out some incredible work.
Amazing work. You deserved every single award. Outstanding stuff.
thanks!
Love the kitty! best painting companions.
Amazing stuff. Although it's weird to see these models today again, remembering seeing and marveling at them on the pages of White Dwarf so many years ago. It's like travelling back in time to the age of 5th edition 50k.
Super Video!!! Und das Beste: Hab jetzt voll Bock zu Pinseln... :-) Dankeschöööööööööööön!
Amazing video. Thank you!
This was a really, really interesting vid. It's always good to listen to a master craftsman.
Awesome vid! Would love to see a similar vid with your old Rackham figs. Story time of how/if Rackham changed anything for your journey as a artist.
Excellent work Demons are well deserved, great job man
Awesome video 👌 and appreciate you critiquing you’re old work for us 👍
That Death Corps of Krieg rider is definitely the pinnacle of what you're showing in this video, love the comp, the figures and the base ! For a honorable mention I would pick the kroot riding the krootox ^^ I remember having seeing it in a White Dwarf mag ^^
Great video :) Thanks!
Nice, i rly like the critiques! pls do more !
Very inspiring! Really dig the stories you tell with all the entries. With regards to the Beastmen: Maybe some dirt on the worn Cloth would have been a nice contrast to the overall imperial cleanliness.
I love your LOTR mini paint jobs - it would be great to see a video of you tackling one, especially given how small they are.
thank you for sharing all of this.
its acc insane, i remember half of these, and to know you did them is crazy.
watching this video certainly was a humbling experience. It's really funny having a look at a model and only thinking "wauw this is amazing". And then afterwards finding out about all these things you didn't see or understand beforehand. When you critiqued Arwen's face I was shocked. But then hearing the arguments I understood what could be changed.
Very clean freehand can see the improvement as you win through the years, clearly see the blending improvement. Don't think a lot of them will place so high today. I like the kroot , kreig, and some aspects of the chaos marine and assassin .
A very interesting watch. Nice to hear you analyze paint jobs. More like this!
You forgot the brown on the Cadian Troopers shorts :P Amazing work man.
Really interesting retrospective.
This video was, in my opinion, really ineresting !
My favorite was the Kroot one
Enjoyed it very much.
