What Are My Used Ties Worth?

  • Do you know how much your old ties are worth? In this episode I will be going over a lot of used ties (silk, polyester, wool, etc) that I came across and picked up at an estate sale. A lot of different brands (Brooks Brothers,Hubert Milano, Carlo Palazzi, Eunmultiplo di Gerardo, Ermenegildo Zegna, Louis Boston, Ungaro Paris, British American House, Prochownick ++).
I sort out and research the ties I bought, compare them with sold listings on eBay, and then I give an estimate of what a realistic re-sell value of my lot is. I also show you 3 factors that will influence the potential value of your tie. I didn’t know anything about ties before this episode, so I had a lot of fun researching and learning! There is money to be made in flipping ties (for those of you who want to try it). Enjoy this quick episode!

Great info on the ties but what I'm more impressed by is the continued improvement, humor and quality of each successive video! Looking forward to the next one. Well done guys!

My alltime prize is an early 60s pale blue tie with a lipstick blot, signed in pen "to Tony, warm regards, Jayne Mansfield". Bought it from the estate of the original recipient, who was a film industry sound tech.

Omg... I was cracking up on your research part. 😆. I think im going to dabble in ties. I found a red Donald J. Trump tie, Peanuts tie & a vintage skinny straight bottom (?) Golf print tie... All at the bins! Probably paid .75 for all three. Great video! Thanks!

Awesome stuff! I love perusing Good Will and the like and knowing a little bit more in case something good comes my way by chance is well worth the watch! Including a bit more about which brands are specifically go-tos, eras and how to determine era, or where to find catalogues of vintage ties for reference would've made this perfect. A little something extra for those who need to get into that same hardcore research. I'm also super curious if you had any winners in your batch! Would love to see an update down the line if these all get sold off, or for any item really. See the cost in time and effort.
Subscribed and looking forward to more!

Have you considered wool ties? Shantung silk? Linen or linen silk blends? Yes silk is king with neckties but wool is amazing too...

Thank you for your research. Just a quick note though. Don't discount those ties that are made from fabric other than silk. Depending upon the brand, condition, design some of the wool, polyester, and cotton ties sell very well. But, silk is king.

Before the cooof virus I was able to sell ties regularly on ebay. But after everyone started zooming to work instead of actually going to an office I'm lucky if I sell one tie a month. Same with dress shoes, I have a closet full of Allen Edmunds shoes in beautiful condition and I'm lucky if I get 40 bucks for shoes worth easily over 100 bucks.

I've collected vintage ties for my husband since the early 80s; he has at least 100 of them now but doesn't wear them. They're from the 40s to a few 70s vintage - AND one tip-up tie. Anybody interested?

It depends on the silk type & thickness of the material. How are the widths? Are any metallic/iridescent shimmering in the sunlight?
P.S:- Have a nice day darling & don't waste any more ties on Husband.
