Ingredients for Simple Chicken Curry:
- Chicken- 1 kg
- Onion, rough chopped- 4 medium
- Ginger, crushed- 2 tsp
- Garlic, crushed- 2 tsp
- Tomatoes, roughly chopped- 3 medium
- Green chillies, thick chopped- 3 nos.
- Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
- Red Chilli Powder- 1.5 tsp
- Readymade Chicken Masala- 1 tbsp (store bought)
- Salt- 1.5 tsp
- Refined Oil- 4-5 tbsp
Preparation:
- Clean & wash the chicken pieces and keep it to drain.
- Roughly chop the onions, tomatoes and green chillies.
- Peel and crush the ginger and garlic cloves.
Process:
- Heat oil in a pan or kadai and add the chopped onions.
- Fry on high heat for 10 mins till brown in colour.
- Add the crushed ginger and garlic and fry on medium heat for 2 mins.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and green chillies and fry on medium heat for 2 mins.
- Add the turmeric powder and mix & fry on medium heat for around 3 mins till tomatoes are soft.
- Now add the chicken pieces and fry on high heat for 2-3 mins till the chicken pieces are browned.
- Add the readymade chicken masala, red Chilli powder and salt, mix and bhunno on high heat for 5 mins. Continue to fry on medium heat for another 5 mins.
- Now add 200 ml water and cook on low heat for around 20 mins till the chicken pieces are tender and oil separates.

I tried this today. First time I was preparing the chicken Curry. All other videos claims to be simple but this one is the best. I'm not sure if it's an Ikea effect, but the curry I had prepared was delicious 😊

This is so good, I'm crying here. Didnt have chicken masala, so on a whim, i added 1.5 tsp of chilli powder, one tsp coriander powder and a large pinch each of fennel powder and fenugreek powder. It was amazing 😢 Thanks and love from India!

I tried this today. It came out soooo good. Its been long I wanted to try a new recipe and this was so easy with minimal ingredients. I did tweak it a bit. I seasoned the chicken with salt and let it marinate for 30 mins. I used tandoori chicken masala because I didnt have chicken masala. And I used a bit of dried kasuri methi leaves too..it turned out yum 😋
After watching 4-5 videos for chicken recipe ,selected this one and made my first chicken curry. It was good in taste...Thank you.

I really want to thank you for this recipe. I made this a few days ago because I needed something to do with the excess frozen chicken I had and I didn't want to just make a conventional stew ( I am Nigerian and I have been looking for a cooking style that bridges African and American tastes. Indian cuisine is PERFECT for this!). This recipe is awesome and my curry turned out great! I changed a few things to save costs because.....bachelor😋. I used powdered ginger and garlic and skipped tomatoes but used jalapenoes and hot reds but everything turned out great and it was wonderful! Thank you so much.
