  • (22 Dec 1976) Black and white Rhodesians go about their pre-Christmas shopping in an apparent air of normalcy. In spite of ten years of economic sanctions, the breakaway British colony seems to have every Christmas item for sale in the shops for its black and white citizens, with only the occasional army and police patrol suggesting the political and military difficulties facing Rhodesia.

There were huge differences between how the colonial powers behaved. Not every colony was as bad as, for example, the Belgium Congo, which was among the worst. And the idea that all native peoples were "noble savages" is historically inaccurate as well. The anti-West sentiment that lumps all colonial powers on one side and all native peoples on the other is a simplification used by socialists and academic virtue-signalers to teach a kind of reverse racism that is as unfair and wicked as the reactionary version.
