  • In this video we'll mainly be talking about canning goat's milk. We have a herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats that we milk twice a day. Sometimes this means we have extra milk - and this video is the best we we've learned how to handle that blessing.
FYI : this is not a FDA approved canning method proceed at your own risk.

I really thought you were going to play some Vestal on the video. Thanks for your special channel.

I wish I could but Vestal is copyrighted so my video would be flagged if I used her. Love her to pieces though, that's why I named this kitten after her. We play her songs a lot in our home. Thanks for your sweet comment, I was wondering if anyone would recognize that name.

I see you have a girl named Dorcas. I have a sister with the same name that passed. Seeing your beautiful girl gave me tears in my eyes

We have a little girl named Bunny who came into our herd alone. She was the lowest in rank for the longest time but Dorcas has accepted her and now they're snuggle buddies at night 🥰 Dorcas is a bit aloof at times so to see her be the one to accept a new buddy is heartwarming.

@@thissideofthefirmament ❤❤❤❤❤ that’s so so sweet. By saying “tears in my eyes”, I meant cryinggggg lol. What a very sweet story. I don’t know if you kiss your goats, I totally would, but if you do, please give Dorcas a kiss for me

I just discovered your channel, what an amazing find! Lots of great content. Do you ever make cheese with your milk? I'm sure you may have covered it in an older video, I just haven't gone thru them all. Thanks and Shalom from Mesa, Arizona

Shalom Tom! Thank you so much! Yes I've made farmers cheese and homemade Velveeta cheese but don't have any videos on it. Right now I don't have any milk though, we had to dry all the goats up last August so we could travel to my brother's wedding and not expect our housesitters to milk in our absence...since then, we had a dud of a buck so we only got one kid from one of our small goats (not a good milker) and now we have 70 more days before kidding time. I pray theyre pregnant, a few of them are getting wide but not sure if that's a combo of their poofy winter coat and some bloat or growing baby goats. I'm hopeful!

@@thissideofthefirmament So glad to have found your channel and good luck to that buck and happy kidding! I will have to try canning more, lately I've been dehydrating most of what I grow. Seems to store well here in Arizona.

THANKS! I recently began canning our abundant goat milk (it’s always feast or famine) and had concern for a “goaty” flavor after time. I’ll be canning some pints longer to use for pies and quarts like you did, for drinking.

I know! We had months of abundant goat milk and then we got a buck who was sort of a dud and have had a long break without any kiddings. The jarred milk really lasted through this time. We still don't drink the jarred milk straight because it's just simply not as delicious as fresh but it is great for coffee and recipes. I also don't like the taste of frozen milk so i can't say I've found the perfect solution to preserving that awesome fresh taste but I can at least save it for other uses.

@@thissideofthefirmament We just sold two bucklings to their new home, yesterday. This morning I milked 5 pints from the doe. I think she will prove to be our all time best producer. With two others in milk, I plan to do a lot of canning. I’ll put up a lot more “cooked” pints for canned milk (pies) but mostly “quick” canned quarts for coffee and cooking. I’m really enjoying your channel.
