60 Planeloads of U.S. Military Equipment Leave Afghanistan as Drawdown Begins

  • U.S. Air Force C-17 cargo jets, which the service said can carry about 17,900 pounds of cargo, are running near around-the-clock missions to move military equipment out of Afghanistan in the Pentagon’s largest drawdown effort since it left Iraq in 2011, officials said. The CENTCOM statement on Tuesday indicated officials intended to provide regular updates on retrograde progress but would give only an estimated range of the completion for security reasons.
CENTCOM also said it had turned over one base to the Afghan National Army - Camp New Antonik in southern Helmand province.

@@Tawny593 As the big picture yes all in all it’s a big joke, but the fact of the matter is the military doesn’t have a choice in being apart of the joke because they just follow the chain of command, so if the higher ups are making stupid decisions and then telling the military to act on them, they have no choice but to do what they’re told because that’s how it works. It’s like my manager used to give us the dumbest shit to do would make no sense and waste time they way he wanted us to do tasks and to do them the exact way he said it when I could have been doing way more efficiently, but because he was my manager I had to follow those orders (he was a stubborn dude). He was a joke of a manager, a joke of a leader, our leaders don’t have their shit together all the time so it ends up in the military’s hands making them look bad. By no means is the U.S. military perfect, that’s not at all what I’m saying, it’s just they have no choice but to follow orders no matter how dumb they could be which inevitably ends up making them part of the laughing stock. The blame starts at the top.
