    Fun fact: this costume was intended to be black, with a shiny vinyl texture, but years of being drawn by different artists in the comics meant that the shiny parts were misinterpreted as the actual colour of the outfit, and by the time the cartoon premiered the perception had drifted into being a shiny white outfit.

      I’m not sure how truthful this is. I own the Jim Lee run and she definitely has it white

    The yellow straps look fantastic and enhance the awesomeness of the white suit.

    ‘More 3D dimensional but in a cartoon way.’ Ken has successfully shown this in the fixing of Storm’s suit.

    The cel-shading looks cool. The icy blue looks better than the original colour. Awesome fixing!

    Adding the thin black lines and white shading onto the hair must take a long time. Only Ken is so patient and spends so much time to improve his figures. The fixed hair matches with Storm's suit perfectly and looks like the hair of 90's cartoon Storm more.

    The new Xmen 97 Storm figure is only a marginal upgrade to this older body they used on 3 previous releases, but the use of newer pinless legs did make her much sturdier.

    On the Original X-Men Series Season 1 Storm had a light caramel complexion and red lipstick....the new Storm is already darker in her skin color so I would have left this one's complexion alone. Her outfit overall is white with highlights of blue but not too much. The hair could've had hint of blue but the black pen I would've left and replced it with some light shades of pink.

    Just a perspective from another artist 👍make sure you understand the color wheel before you mix paint. This might help you create the colors that you’re looking for more easily.

      She is. The comic costume (introduced in Uncanny X-Men 230 in 1988) was originally meant to be shiny black material, but due to it being covered in white "reflective accents" by the inker and colourist, it has been misinterpreted by subsequent artists. By the time Jim Lee was in charge of the book, his Storm was wearing a silver costume (he hadn't intentionally changed it, thats just how he thought it was supposed to look all along), and the 90s cartoon reinterpreted/simplified his art, which made it look like a shiny white costume. Despite how it looks on the cartoon and this figure, it is supposed to be silver.

    For the black lines, have you ever considered using a fine-tipped paint pen? Would that help keep things straight and clean?

    Instead of working on the new storm, why don't u just head swap them? They're basically the same figure

    This looks so good! If the cell shaded figures looked like this everyone would be on board! Hasbro just sucks at it

    • @Rocket1377
      @Rocket1377 Před 3 měsíci

      Nope, cel shading on toys is completely unnecessary. It's just the animators way of lighting and adding highlights to 2D characters to stop them looking flat, and a 3D sculpt doesn't need those to be painted on. You can achieve the same effect with the proper lighting.

    • @dantedisplays
      @dantedisplays Před 3 měsíci

      @@Rocket1377 you may not like it but I dig it and would totally buy this figure with good cell shading over a non cell shaded version. Everyone has different tastes and that’s ok!
