glad you two enjoyed some of DC's best neighborhoods. Just to comment of the half smoke experience you really have to eat a half smoke at a hotdog stand/cart. there's something about boiled dogs that keep them juicy. Ask for everything on it and you wont be disappointed. I grew up on eating two hotdogs with a chip and soda when it was only $2.50!
Oh my goodness I was excited to FINALLY get to set down and watch!! Been runnin like a chicken. I just love it when y’all post, is like gettin to set down with friends and kibbutz over a great meal!! (And no calories… unlike my quickie trip to Florida 😏)

Every time I see a Capitals hockey game, the bar is the best!
Be sure to go to Martin's Tavern when the Shad are running. Halfsmoke is OK, but so far from iconic as to not be seen. While in Georgetown, go to Filomena's and make an evening of your dinner. You only feature a handful of places. I hope you didn't ignore Washington's first Lebanese restaurant, Mama Ayesha's on the edge of Adams Morgan. It was The Calvert Cafe when I started going there in 1960.

@@TheMagicGeekdom it was nice little trip. It was cut short but I live in jersey anyways so ill def be going back. The Korean war memorial was closed for renovation and that was the main reason to go. The main place I ate at was boxcar tavern. It was a nice little bar/restaurant across from the eastern market. Good food and not tough on my Hip-national.

Do you have any recommendations for restaurants? From your own experience there, what is a restaurant or restaurants that you HAVE to try if you go to Washington DC. (I'm visiting for the first time in December)
@@FelipeGarcia-vz4wl try Old Ebbitt Grill near the White House, or the Hamilton in the next block both are very reasonable and great atmosphere
Life long DC resident. DC has the most average food. The restaurants are fueled by 20/30 somethings. There use to be a show "Check Please" on PBS where 5 Gen Z rated restaurants. Phony as hell and got cancelled.
It may not be the strongest food city ever, but we enjoyed the things we had there.
The watermelon sugar does sound good, even if that’s not what you were going for 🤣-S

I’m willing to give it a shot but in my experience fancy cup cake places that are popular always suck.
That is often true, but I think this one is actually worth the hype!

A friend took me to the Tavern when I visited. I asked the waitress what is popular locally. The waitress was offended at me. Not sure why.

Was Ben’s chili bowl too “urban” for you guys??? Cuz that’s the spot for the half smokes....and secondly real Mumbo sauce comes from carry-outs with wings,again musta been too urban
To be honest, Ben's is overrated. The history is nice, but the actual food is just okay. Also, since a lot of places have their own version of mumbo sauce, it's hard to say which one is best. I bet, depending on where you live in DC, some have no clue what mumbo sauce is so you can't say it's something you have to try in DC.
We can miss a place and it can be just because we missed it and not because it's "too urban" lol.
