Pinguicula // Butterworts are Carnivorous plants. The Mexican variety are displayed in this video, they have a Carnivorous phase with sticky flypaper-like leaves and a succulent winter growth phase to protect them from the dry season.
Pings can be easily grown on as houseplants in southfacing (Northern Hemisphere) windows.

Thanks for the gypsum tip! I’m going to try that with my pings! I see a few pings in your collection that I don’t have…I live in Texas so the weather has been brutally hot. I will wait until the weather gets a bit cooler before I order anything. Glad I found your channel! New subbie!
Make sure it's a gypsum loving pings. I only use it for gypsicola and hybrids if I'm experimenting

One question : what kind of lights do you use and and how many FC/lumens are your pings getting ( and how far down are they from the light fixtures )?
Barrina LED T8 full spectrum white/pinkish whites. 12"s away for 14-17hrs /day depending on the season

I see your Winnipeg mug, i just moved there and have a fascination for pinguicula. I was curious where you find yours? I’ve ordered some from crystal star nurseries, but I’m really wanting to find local sources.
I got it during my undergraduate degree in chemistry at the UofW :)
Totally realized I read this wrong lmao. I import pings from the states since I can just drive across the border. I would recommend Myself, or Plantzzhut on Instagram for pings. Quebec carnivores is on Facebook and of course there is always Brads greenhouse. I got my first ping from Willy at Little green monsters however I am not sure when his store is opening back up but when it does he is my #1 choice :)

this was the first summer in my new apartment.... lots of pings were not looking their best. I plan to do an update in the next month or two and things go into succulent phase and start blooming!

I use yescom 225 wwhite lights and I fertilize with shults cactus and succulent fertilizer on the leaves

Right now! Ahaha sorry it has been a while (grad studies has been slightly overwhelming) going to try to make updates as I repot and rearrange the collection.
What soil mix do you use? Great collection. :)
A complete mineral mix of chunky diatomaceous earth, Perlite, pumice, sand and fuval stratum. Peat < 10% sand, and perlite works great too. I can definitely make a potting mix video
@@AndrewsStickyLeaves That would be awesome. My biggest concern with a "chunkier" mix is that it doesn't retain water as well as a peat mix, without top watering.
@@Energydrink. I haven't had that issue so far. No peat prevent that annoying moss from growing too!
How long does it usually take for the ping to get their color?
usually about a month once under high light. fertilizer helps speed up the process :)

Currently in Canada yes, I might be able to ship worldwide if I get the phytosanitary certificates sorted out. :)
