Hi, Wendy! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe! I'm so happy to have you, and super thrilled that you love my channel!
Beautiful setting!
Diane, thanks so much! We love our property!
So enjoyed your video. Im going to hobby Lobby for some patterns. Patterns 1.99 this week. what a deal.
Hi, Mary! OMG how I love those pattern sales! And to think, I seldom even use one, but I'm an avid "collector"! lol!
Love ❤️ it, you are my kind of woman, I love a great bargain, so wish we had shops like you in 🇦🇺 Australia 🇦🇺.
Aahhh, an Aussie! I am thrilled to have you in my Curvy Tribe! A trip to Australia is on my bucket list! Welcome, and I hope you enjoy my other videos, too!
You are funny! Have a great day!❤
Hi, Dessieree! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe! Thanks for the compliment! I hope you enjoy my other videos as well!
Loved your backdrop...would love to sit and enjoy the running water. Here in Georgia the mosquitoes would tote me away. We have been so dry lately and our temps are up to 102 this week. Praying for some rain soon. Hope you weren't affecting by the tropical storm that recently hit in Texas. I enjoyed your fabric and pattern haul. Awesome deal.
Hi, Deb! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe! Its sweltering here in Louisiana too. Been waaaay too hot to film outside! But there are promises of cooler weather next week! I hope you enjoy my other videos!
Very cute top!❤
Thank you!
I found you today on my tablet, couldn’t stop, checked out a lot of your videos. Enjoyed!

Hi, Linda! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe! So excited to have you!
So cute.
I hadn't hear of Ivey Abitz, so I looked her up. I downloaded some of the 2022 outfits as inspiration.
It's so interesting, here in 2022, I want to MAKE a capsule wardrobe, although I already utilize the concept in my clothes, but it's getting harder and harder to find anything I like, in the right colors, lengths, and fabrics, and the right price. I've been inspired by the layered looks of Gudrun Sjoden, the Swedish designer. I really want everything I make to go together, just like my off the rack stuff does now. Limited color palette, layering ability, easy to wear with a variety of shoes. I really liked the Simplicity 8640, but had to go to etsy to find it!
I have everything Gudren Sjoden and Ivey Abitz on Pinterest boards! I actually tried a color combo very much like GS last week, and I looked like a clown- so there is a fine balancing act in all the colors! I actually have S8640 in my "pattern collection." Unfortunately, i very seldom ever use a pattern, and here's why; by the time i check things like armcyse, hip width, under bust, etc, against my own sloper, I usually find that my sloper IS the pattern I'm using! So I just make a few adjustments to my sloper to get the look on the cover of the pattern.
@@thecurvysewist Yes, her color choices are not up my alley (GS). But I take a page from her layering techniques. I have been building my wardrobe from navy for probably ten years now. I just don't like wearing black! It's a challenge. I dislike the bare leg thing that's so popular right now, so I've taken to wearing leggings under my skirts (instead of hosiery) year round; long in winter, shorter in summer. I live in the frigid North, so it's not a bad idea! I just saw last night (when I couldn't sleep...) some videos on how to make your own leggings. This is so perfect, because it is nearly impossible to find 1. navy, 2. long enough, and 3 leggings that will stay up and not pull from the crotch on this tall, curvy lady.
@@rosehavenfarm2969 I totally agree that leggings can add the perfect amount of "quirky" to an otherwise basic outfit. And I do the same as you- long winter, short summer. I also wear my dresses shorter because I'm short. So shorter leggings make for an interesting detail. I'm actually working on using an existing pair of fabulous fitting leggings as a pattern for more interesting pairs.
Your Hobby Lobby has much better deals than my local store. We did have the 1.99 Simplicity and New Look sale last week. I understand this week it will be McCalls. None of the fabric was on sale last week. but I have been able to get some fabric clearance in the past. Never linen, and rarely do they have anything on clearance fabric under $4. a yard. I do believe that most of the fabric will be 25% off this week. Have fun shopping and sewing! Enjoyed your video and have subscribed.
Good morning, Jean! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe! I can't believe I missed this comment from so long ago! I'm so sorry! It's been a while since I shopped fabric at Hobby Lobby- I'm mostly buying online now at trusted sources. Fashion Fabrics Club has beautiful fabric at amazing prices- especially their clearance prices! Check them out. I'm making new videos, so check them out!
I just found your video and loved it! I am also a curvy girl (grandma!) and need help with fit. I finished a tunic today and it turned out too big. I was disappointed, but I learn with each project I sew.
Hi, Anne! From one curvy grandma to another, welcome to my Curvy Tribe! That tunic can be fixed, i promise! Watch a few more of my videos, and you'll figure out how to do a few nips and tucks here and there!
Robin, love your tutorials! Can’t wait to watch more!
Hi again, IQ! I'm just thrilled outta my mind that you're lovin' my channel! Lotsa vids in the works!
I just found your channel today. I have enjoyed watching all your videos. I love it is sewing and fitting for our curves. I am subscribing and can't wait to see what else you share with us. Love your yard and the water fountain sounds great. Very soothing.
HI, Pam! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe! I'm so glad you found my channel! Thanks so much for the compliments about our pond~ it is truly a labor of love for my hubs and me! Maybe in late fall I can do more videos from the back deck- right now it's just sweltering out there! Stay tuned! I'm loading Part 2 of The Blue Dress Tute today!
@@thecurvysewist I understand heat and humidity. I live in east Texas
@@pambruner4545 Really??? I'll be working in Tyler tomorrow! Im very close to the state line!
Wow, really? I'm working in Tyler tomorrow! i'm super close to the state line!
Omg you are hilarious. I just found you and I'm loving your energy!
Hi, Dorothy! I love your enthusiasm! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe! I can already tell that you're gonna be a fun one! Lol!
I have to comment on your beautiful garden!! Too bad it’s so hot or I think you would be out there all day!
Oh, thank you, Anna! I really do love all my gardens. But yes, girl, it is sooo HOT down here! Even my shade garden is waaaay too hot to enjoy!
Connie Crawford makes ready-to-wear patterns that require the least adjustment for plus size. Check it out!
Hello sweetie I'm from the UK and I couldn't possibly leave a comment because I am far too shy, no actually it's my anxiety that stops me mostly or I speak too much. Anyway just wanted to tell you that I think the Curvy Sewist is brilliant and I'm bulk watching and liking all of your videos right now.
Love you loads Myra xxx
Hi, Myra! You're so sweet!!! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe! I speak too much, too! Im so happy you're enjoying my videos, and i have more coming- keep watching!
$2.00 a yard for linen is unbelievable, good for you. I do like linen, cotton, and all things natural fabrics. Great deals and don't we all like the sales?
Yes, I absolutely a good sale! Although, I must say, that $2 linen will not become clothing after all. It is a lower quality and holds wrinkles in a way I don't care for, but I can see it becoming embroidered napkins! Linen can be made into pretty much everything!
Robin, love that top!! Also loved some of the patterns you hauled, in fact I put them in the notes on my phone. Okay, when is that “making a slower” video coming!?
Omg I feel ya about the "hub's" business and no permission 😅🤣🤦♀️ I don't show him anything I buy cuz he argues for no reason and it's none of his business 😅 but I love the fabrics and patterns...and YOUR personality.
GIRLFRIEND! I agreeee!!!! Sorry I missed this comment so long ago. I hope you're still watching! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe!
@@thecurvysewist of course!! Looking forward to mire content...whenever they're up
@@royajahani1 I am back making new videos, so I hope you find some little morsels in there to make your sewing practice much easier and more enjoyable! Welcome to my Curvy tribe! Stay tuned!
I just found your channel and subbed you. You are so funny. I watched your hobby lobby haul. You were talking about you live in an area without winter. I get the same type of weather like you do. I live in Florida.
Hi, PC! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe! Yes, no winter has its benefits, but the super hot temps are a challenge sometimes! Thanks for your sweet comments- funny comes naturally to all my family! Lol!
Hi, So enjoyed your vlog!!! Just subscribed, you’re a whoot! Looking forward to seeing more!
Hi, Gina! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe! I'll bet you're a whoot too! Lol! Looking forward to getting to know you!
Hi, Robin. This is my first time viewing your presentation and I've enjoyed it so much. You did really good with your pattern and fabric hauls. I hope you won't mind that I might suggest that the striped material might be better utilized with either a solid top or bottom. The black stretch lace is gorgeous and I think to edge stitch sections of it together to make a piece large enough for a dress top or part there of would be beautiful. I would also ask whether the skirt with the shorts are attached or if the shorts are separate perhaps without a waistband. BTW, I subscribed!!!
Good morning, Barbara! I can't believe I missed your comment from so long ago! You have given me great feedback! I love the idea of attaching the lace together at the edge to make a bigger piece- so simple, yet I hadn't considered it! That's what I love about my Curvy Tribe, so many ideas exchanged! I'll have to review this video to answer the question about the skirt/shorts. Welcome to my Curvy Tribe, and check out my new videos!
I’m in south Arkansas, so I know how hot and humid it can get!!
Well, wouldn't we both love some hot weather today!!! I always look forward to February with trepidation because it's always the coldest month for us- some years colder than others. We'll soon find out, won't we!
@@thecurvysewist
Yes, I have found that to be true.
I’m a Yankee in foreign territory! My husband was from El Dorado, he died in 2006, so I’m her probably till I die, but it’s as good a place to be as anywhere else. Keep up the good work!
@@florence775 Although i was born in Mississippi, i moved to Michigan and raised my two oldest daughters there for 25 years! I consider that home! Where up north are you from? BTW, i just love ElDorado! Such an adorable town!
@@thecurvysewist
I grew up in a small coal town in Pennsylvania. At 19 moved to San Diego, then a few years later, up state NY, Glens Falls, a few years later, south Texas, McAllen, Rio Grand valley, then later back to San Diego, then Pismo Beach area (north of Ventura, Ca.) then to Ventura, Ca. for 20 years, met my first husband. After quite a number of years moved to Bullhead City. Az. Divorced first husband, met second husband thru a friend, he was working there, but from El Dorado, he retired we came for a visit and wound up here. He died in 2006 and I’ll probably die here too. I’ve been around the country though!
@@florence775 Wow! You really have!
First time seeing your video! Loved it! Gotta love those Hobby Lobby hauls.. patterns and fabrics! Looking forward to more videos. Sew excited! 😉
Hi, Janet! Welcome! Yes, dont we love a good haul?! So happy to add you to my Curvy Tribe!
I know how hot it is there, we were there at the end of June. We visited the stunning Rosedown Plantation, and I nearly died. I'll bet I sweated a gallon, it was just pouring off!! Thank you so much for filming in front of your pond, it's so beautiful! BTW, I just closed my fabric store, and the mustard fabric on that pattern is an Art Gallery Fabric, and I think I have some left. It was $8 in the shop, but I've cut the prices, so it will be $5/yard now. LMK if you want some.
Thanks, SS! Sorry that you learned about our soggy wet humidity during your visit!
We really do enjoy our pond and koi! Thanks for noticing!
Do you have 4 yards of that fabric? I really do like it!
@@thecurvysewist Okay, let me go look, now I remember!
Nope! I'm sorry, it's all gone!
thanks for introducing me to Ivey Abbitz. very pretty stuff. I'm glad I can sew! Wouildn't want to have to pay those prices!
Don't you just luv the way she layers patterns?! While cost prohibitive, she is very inspirational!
You taunt us with your sloper! Even if you don't do an all-out tutorial (I know doing one is labor-intensive and something you really only want to do -- or have to do -- once), I'd love to hear some tips and suggestions on doing one. Particularly for pants...(sigh).
Hi, Jeanne! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe! You're making me laugh- very clever wording! Taunting indeed! Honestly, i have felt like i'm skipping over a step that i'm avoiding! Busted! But i really do plan to get to slopers very very soon! Even pants... (double sigh).
Hi. Hello. Howdy. Thank you for sharing. I also gain extra weight in my stomach. Later.
Hi, Connie! Welcome to my Curvy Tribe! I gain all over, but I think we notice it most when our tummies interfere with our look, right? Like, I can actually SEE that weight! Like, every morning! Uuuuuggghhh!
I've never liked linen, because it wrinkles. Within a few minutes of wearing linen, I feel that I look like a mess.
I used to feel the same way
Now i love it for its shabby, boho vibe. Works great to use frayed edge trim work with it!
@@thecurvysewist A frayed edge for a shabby vibe. Would not have thought of that. Bohemian has always been my favorite as well. It's timeless.
Who is Ivy Abbott? I just came upon your videos and love them! I'm also a curvy girl
Hi, again! Ivey Abitz is a bespoke designer I found earlier this year. Google her. I have found tons of inspiration on her site, and there's sew much more on Pinterest! Look for The Curvy Sewist there; I have a board loaded with all Ivey Abitz outfits!
Another great video. Love the outfit you are wearing. I'm in NC and sweat (glow) buckets myself. You mention Ivey Abbot a couple of times in this video, can you elaborate on her please?
I think i need to do a video on the whole idea of a capsule wardrobe, and explain about Ivy Abitz and how her seasonal releases influenced me. In the meantime, look her up online or on Pinterest. I have a huge folder of her on my Pinterest page, called (not surprisingly!) The Curvy Sewist.
