CAN YOU GO FROM ZERO TO 50K RACE IN 3 MONTHS? YES YOU CAN! Month 1 Training Tips (Beginner Friendly)

  • After losing most of my fitness in the last few months, I'm embarking on a journey to complete my 2nd 50k, taking place in April 2024. With about 3.5 months to go from zero to 50K runner, I have to be smart about every training session. I hired elite ultra athlete, Ben Light of Adventure Your Potential to create a training plan that includes running, strength training, biking, mobility and hiking to get me in 50K shape!
    My goal in sharing these videos is to show others that they too, CAN achieve big fitness, running and endurance goals by being smart in their training, being consistent and having some expert guidance.
    The first weeks of 50k training are. a little boring believe it or not! We aren't doing anything crazy (for good reason). So here are the 3 things I am focusing on in my first couple weeks of 50k training.
    Check back for an update on weeks 3-4 as we crank up some more volume and I start incorporating workouts that are HARD (but fun).

    I’ve been trying to keep my heart rate at 138-140 since early Jan. I start at 4.2 speed and I’ll go down to 3.9 until my heart rate can’t stay under 141. I started out only running 6 mins straight. I’m now up to 23-24 mins before I have to start walking. 💪👊
