  • As an age group triathlete and (newbie) ultra runner, I share my plan for getting back to peak fitness in 4 months. The good news is that anyone can follow this plan and tailor it based on their own needs.
Even if you have never done a triathlon or running race, incorporating these tips will get you in much better shape than you currently are. None of these tips involve crazy mileage, advanced training or expensive equipment. In fact, my preference has always been to train outside or in the comfort of my own home (much cheaper than a gym membership).
In this video, I discuss the key to cardio and why the first 4 weeks are important for base building, what to eliminate from your diet, what to prioritize and how to build a simple routine that's beginnger-friendly.
This plan is the same one I use anytime I need to get my fitness back, without going too hard too fast (which only leads to injury). I hope you enjoy the video!

    Spicy Margarita Mocktail Recipe
    What you will need:
    - fresh jalapeño
    - club soda or sparkling water
    - lime
    - lime-aid (I use Simply Lime juice)
    How to prepare:
    1. Slice one jalapeño
    2. Slice one lime
    3. Fill a cup with ice (if you have a martini shaker build the mocktail in there)
    4. squeeze juice from half a lime
    5. Add 3 slices fresh jalapeño
    6. Add 3 oz of Lime Aid
    7. Shake vigorously (or pour back and forth between two glasses - the key here is bringing out the spice from the jalapeño)
    8. Pour over ice
    9. Top with club soda or sparkling water
    ---
    My Equipment:
    1. Garmin Fenix Solar Smart Watch (women's)
    2. Kickr Snap Bike Trainer
    3. Resistance Bands
    4. 10 pound free weights
    5. Hoka Carbon X Women's Running Shoes

Parenting / Life /work, etc., always make getting and keeping in shape hard!! Best luck. You've got this! I've never run a tri but I've thought about trying a sprint. Maybe if I find one locally I'll try it this year. But I don't have a good bike.

That’s so true! It’s tough to find the time. But we have to get it in where we can 🙌💪
You should try a sprint distance! That was. My first distance. It was a blast. I didn’t have any tri gear either. I borrowed my dad’s mountain bike, got a cheap bike helmet off Amazon and bought a used bike kit off a Facebook triathlon buy n sell group. Sprints are really fun and I think you will do great!

You can always upgrade later on. I bought a swimsuit, a bike and helmet, shoes and all small nessasary and unnessasary accessories to my first tri event ever - it was 'Ironman 70,3 Elsinore' for about 6000K all together..
