    I wish they had actually made it look like a Moto2 bike. How hard would that have been? Integrate some headlights into the “bubble” fairing, add the obligatory turn signal stalks, and be done. As it is, this feels like a throwback in the sense that the RSV4 does. That is not to say either isn’t a fantastic bike, but sex appeal does matter.
    Regardless of any of that, I’d definitely buy this if money was no object. As it is, I’d be more interested in the rumoured updated Street Triple (with similar engine tweaks). More practical for road use, cheaper and roughly on par for looks (and I dislike the bug eyes).

    It's a no from me, chief.
    If they had done a better job with the looks and offered it as a regular production model, then it would make sense to consider it. They are already all sold out probably, but at that price range there are so many better looking and more powerful options.

    Looks beautiful! And I'm sure it will perform! Not many manufacturers have made a bike which can so easily switch between road and track (bmw, ducati) so it'll have to be pretty techy to be 'practicable' on the road too.... since he's saying it so track focused.

    A bit of a vanity piece (price!!) but beautiful nonetheless. I will say now that own a 2018 Street Triple 765 R that it really is, in my 20 plus year of riding, the best motor/chassis combo I’ve ever encountered. It does everything extremely well. I have very little track experience but no doubt, in the right hands, this thing would be a weapon and if kept in nice condition, will most likely hold its value fairly well. Look forward to Triumph Of Seattle getting their hands on one so I can see it in the flesh! Now C’mon Triumph, lets see a liter bike based on the 1050 Speed Triple motor!! That would get my attention even more.

      The 765 Street Triple isn't making that much more power than the old 675 Street triple either. But, it still feels like a much better and much more powerful bike.

    • @Andypat057
      @Andypat057 Před 5 lety

      I thought it may have been 130BHP+. The street triple is 123BHP and wasn't the old Daytona about 125BHP.
      I know it's a limited run but at 16 grand you're into big bike territory where BMW and KTM are kicking out over 160BHP for the same money
      The Ducati 959 is in this price bracket and they are around the 150BHP.

      It seems a lot of this "it isn't putting much more power, but has more displacement" moaning is mainly due to meeting Euro 4 as compared to Euro 3 regs.
      I don't know what any of the bike manufacturers can do about that, they've all had to up displacement and reduce fuel consumption and emissions to balance competing objectives.

  • @greyrock551
    @greyrock551 Před 5 lety +3

    Of course 'limited edition!' (yay), but it's a bit hard to see the value in this once you get past that. The chassis and brake setup is 100% what you get in a Street Triple RS, with slightly different (not necessarily much better) forks. Even the pegs are pretty much in the same position. Exhaust sounds 'meh' at best (of course it would with that huge cat box hanging below). It has a fairing, but with an older design. So if you must have a track bike with clip-ons, why not just pick up an older Daytona (R)? And if clip-ons don't matter, a second-hand 765 RS or R. Unless it's the extra power you are after, but then you might as well go all the way and surely a new S1000RR (which can't be much more expensive) then dumps all over this?

      @@mitsuninja Idd, i bought a Z1000SX 2 years ago and that has LEDs stock, as you say it is a HUGE difference over halogens. There really is just no excuse to still use halogens anymore; LEDs are superior in everyway, they last longer and just safer for riders.

      @@mitsuninja Idd, for the money they're asking for it there's no excuse tbh. I'd hazard a guess that 95% of the parts would bolt right on a 13 675R, apart from the TFT screen, the engine and the carbon body work wich are basicly carbon versions of the same plastics i have on my 13 non R there's nothing new afaik. It's obvious that they have no intention of prolonging the production beyond the limited edition model, no extra effort has been made. Underwhelmed, even feels low on power imo, should be 140ish as the MV800 and not the same 128hp as the 675 version.

      This is proof that opinions can be wrong lol. The new Daytona was always going to have a 765 just as the triples have, and this one has been more than "breathed on" plus you forgot to mention all the carbon fibre, and there are the chassis/dimensions changes. The "normal" one if it does turn up (I hope, and think it would be odd not to) will not be as tuned and obviously heavier by a fair bit with less trick parts as standard.
