What about the Video quality when filming at night does it improved? Or is it still not usable Like with the 1V?
Is the Video finally better then the Iphone pro max?
there is no way you said mkb wish list came true. the only one they fulfilled what was the 1080p display. the price didnt go down and you said paying ÂŁ1299 is reasonable? what the hell? the display isnt smaller either, no idea why you had to lie about that. they still got ways to go if they wanted to do what mkbhd said.
Sony a Japanese company isnt gonna change its ethos for a CZcams Celebrity/influencer.
@@Blizz247 the phone is shorter, it is 1080 and the release date is close to the announcement...but the price, yeh that's the only one.
Best design of all recent phones. No stupid punch hole. Beautiful back side.
Exactly!

Best design..such big word
I like punch holes
Cool man, pay over 1200 for a phone with a full HD display and thick bezels
The fact that it has all the latest features and still include the headphone jack and SD card slot makes it the best value for money!
I like the OP12 as an all rounder. It's a great device, and I appreciate Sony for keeping the headphone jack alive, but I might just grab a walkman the next time I upgrade sound quality.
6.5â meh
I haven't use a headphone jack in 5 years. Why people still care about this?
@@Ghovilord Some people pay for the best sound they can get, and want to hear what they paid for. You simply can't do that with Bluetooth and Spotify. The phone market shifted to wireless because they realized that most people just don't care about how good their content sounds. Sony; however, kept sound, video, and camera quality higher than the standard, because their phone was supposed to be a gateway to the rest of their technological offerings for the average consumer. The problem is that the average consumer could never justify paying the exorbitant prices Sony continued to charge for its mobile devices, and now the Xperia brand is losing it's premium identity to pander to the broader market...which is never a good sign for any company. Regardless the Xperia 1V is currently the only phone that can stream Dolby Atmos content due to its 4K screen. That is the phone to get this Black Friday.
@@Ghovilord Sound quality will ALWAYS be better through cable.
A 1'' main sensor, a 1.5k screen, 4 + 5 years of Android updates like the majority of the competition, and above all, a maximum price of $1000-$1100, there, this Sony could really have been competitive.
đđœ
I don't think most people need 1.5k resolution on such a tiny screen but 7 years of updates and lower price tag would be great. Don't forget, Xperia offers things other phones don't: SD Card slot and headphone jack. I've got over 600GB of pictures so the SD card slot is a great advantage for me.
@michalrv3066 dude f off about the resolution, you don't know what you're talking about. It's one of those things that once you notice it's hard to ignore. That resolution and high ppi density kind of made the price justified.
@michalrv3066 The standard Galaxy S's have been criticized for years for being "only" FHD, but when Sony does it, it's no big deal đ€Šđœââïž
Personally I also think that 2k, 3k, 4k on a 6-7" screen only serves to tax the processor and drain the battery đ, but 1.5k consumes like FHD, with the advantages of 2k , and that's the minimum for a $1300 smartphone, especially when $350 smartphones have 1.5k.
đđœ
Sony needs a differentiator. It needs the headphone jack....and DAC (like old LG). It needs truly stereo front facing speakers like HTC. FHD or 1.5k 90Hz screen is okay. Give a upper range Mediatek processor and good camera sensor and processing plus signature Sony build quality. If such a phone is sold at mid range price of $600-$800, I will consider it.
@@michalrv3066 can how many times do you actually look at those pictures
Sony took all of MKBHD's suggestions, apart from dropping down the price. Seriously, as the phone itself, I can't find a single fault with it, it's amazing in every aspect, but I am just not willing to pay over a grand for a phone. If this ever goes on sale for around ÂŁ800 I will be getting it, otherwise no chance.
I pre-ordered it in Germany with a mobile contract and all together costs (with all costs ! ) just 983,74 Euro
@@ivybator6167 I don't do contracts. I only pay ÂŁ10/month for my data pack (I need that for work), before that I averaged like ÂŁ3/month for my mobile needs.
@@ivybator6167 "just" lol
If you only see it as a phone, then it's absurd to pay over $1,000 for a phone. But this thing is also a very capable camera. It's justified if you make full use of it.
ââ@@rrsharizamSame reason I got my iPhone 15 Pro Max instead of a proper APSC camera. Yes a mirrorless WILL take better pictures, but it will not always be with me at all times. If you just want quick, good looking photos, good phones nowadays can do the job flawlessly. If you want to take camera looking photos (depth of field mainly), yes a camera with proper, expensive lenses will do it better. But it will always be a bulkier and more cumbersome setup.
I'm absolutely fine with no 4K. I'm absolutely fine with the changed aspect ratio.
But how can they make these cuts yet charge the same price?!
I think depending on popularity the price could change a little later on down the line.
just like with the 5V lens removal, same price. they did great with 1V and then these
@@smilingface2006 In the UK, the 5 V was ÂŁ150 cheaper than the 5 IV

and 21:9 4k.
Waiting for Xperia PRO I II
Xperia 1 phones NEVER EVER had 4K resolution displays whatsoever.
16:9 4K = 3840 x 2160 = 8,294,400 pixels.
21:9 4K = 5120 x 2160 = 11,059,200 pixels.
Xperia 1 series up until the 1 V has used 3840 x 1644 (= 6,312,960 pixels) which is NOT 4K in any way shape or form. Even LinusTechTips has pointed out that fact on his Short Circuit channel years ago.
Sony has been lying to everyone with their BS marketing tactics.
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
The last phones with ACTUAL 4K resolution displays are the Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZ2 Premium both of which have 16:9 4K displays.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M
Try to see a movie in the Sony Pictures App.
21:9 4k in the 1V maybe better than the 1VI screen and no black lines.
@@PSYCHOV3N0M
The term "4K" is generic and refers to any resolution with a horizontal pixel count of approximately 4,000.[3]:â2â Several different 4K resolutions have been standardized by various organizations. (source: wikipedia)
4K has nothing to do with Megapixels (It's not photography) but with the horizontal pixel count. At the end of the day it is nothing more than just a Marketing term that has nothing to do with the 2160p that we geeks/gamers/enthusiasts usually refer to.
â@@PSYCHOV3N0Mwell can't have 4K with 21:9. At least it can play 4K playback on YT and some apps.
I would have kept my, except it had an annoying bluetooth bug that annoyed me. I might get this as I still have the camera and vlog grip stuff. Slightly disappointment that the cameras are the same though
Great review... I'm sort of mixed with this phone. I will buy it later out of curiosity. But, it's sad that they remove the 21:9 aspect ratio and the 4K display. At least have a Quad HD display.
No, it has FHD display.
I think maybe their plan was to trade PPi for Battery life...I think the option to choose between QHD & FHD in the settings could have been good though.
@@tsukai1276 I know... I'm saying they could've put a Quad HD display.
@@shawnorjiakor Truthfully, you'll never notice the difference between a FHD and QHD display in a smartphone unless you have 2 side by side and look very, very closely at specific things. It's a very good tradeoff for the insane battery life and improved brightness which I'd take any day over a display which is only sharper on paper and not in everyday use.
@@SwiftHDX I understand your POV and I do agree with some of those points. Battery life is much more important than an incredibly sharp display unless you have a portable battery. Now as far as personal experience... I do see a difference between FHD and Quad HD. Plus, it's the standard of the flagship phone. Sony did take a big hit with being unique for the masses and they need to market this phone HEAVILY. In 2024... I don't believe in a 1080p phone being at over $1000.
1080p makes this phone even more desirable, I already have OLED TV if I want to watch 4k movie but a phone with headphone jack, micro SD, and long battery life! This checks all the box.
Exactly. If you care that much about authentic cinema (21:9 etc.) and audio, you'll plug in headphones or watch on a TV. It's a phone ffs.
Only Sony fanboys would say this. If Apple released an iPhone this expensive with a 1080 display, everyone would absolutely tear them to shreds. Sony doesnt get a pass. Quite laughable display for 2024.
@@michaelbell75 I see it differently. I don't think increasing a phone screen's PPI above 400 is a value. It's impressive on paper but sucks battery and raises the cost. If the display was going into a VR headset, yeah crank it up higher but at phone distances? Pass. Battery, sunlight visibility, refresh rate are more interesting.
I have the 1 V since launch and the battery is still strong, only needing charge every 2-3 days depending on use. I wouldn't trade the 4k screen for more battery, but I'd love to have that wider aspect ratio, as the phone is pretty tall.
Objectively, Sony makes some of the best phones out there with the only issue being price and lack of long term android updates. I'd take headphone jack and SD card slot over Galaxy Ultra's S Pen!
well, at the expense of battery life, I'd choose the 1080p than 4k, and 4k is just suitable for big screens like tv, tablets or monitors
For that price should have been 1440p...but thats just me nitpicking ..the phone is the best looking phone in my opinion i would like to see a sony with a google pixel like auto mode for their camera
Seems Sony missed the mark a bit. They have the 5 model, which essentially aligns with everything Marques mentioned, top-of-the-line specs with an FHD+ OLED display. Now, the 1 series also has an FHD screen for no apparent reason. Like Porsche, you don't put a Boxster engine into a 911 GT3.
đŻ
Porsche does all that and more. Apparently their customer base is ignorant enough to get away with.
The design is extremely unique
I love it
Easily desirable
The design is amazing
The price is ok, Sony wont get a cheaper display just because is FHD.
Resolution isn't really a huge reason for price drop nowdays, Color Gamut and Brightness has heavier consideration.
In fact this display could be more expensive because of the brightness and color volumen that comes with it.
Screen is cheaper but for other reason.
Their "4k" 21:9 was expensive due to minimal scale of production, exclusively for xperias selling like ~1 million per year. LTPO screens at 19:5:9 and 1080p+ are in mass production hence price is lower.
Production scale is factor making it cheap or expensive.
people being fine with 4K on 40" but less than 4K on 6.5" is a no go. the math is no mathing. 100PPI monitors are fine, but less than 650PPI phone is devious. what?
Man the camera of Xperia 1mark6 is phenomenal! The camera is almost close to full frame camera! đ„đ„
Did u ever had a full frame camera in your hands?
Where did you try Xperia 1 VI?
đđđcome on . . . Sony is a great smartphone but no smartphone is even as close as cropped DSLRS let alone full frames
One thing is for sure, this phone is a beast
Best part is that you pay that high price tag and still only get 2 years of updates. I'm not annoyed at all, that my 5 III doesn't get updates anymore :)
Last Sony Xperia with full Sony's proprietary hardware was Sony Xperia 1 IV. Now there is:
No RGBC-IR.
No Laser AF.
No 3D iToF.
No 4K Resolution. (this was acceptable but only because battery on smartphones in general is not advancing and it becomes a major issue among all phone especially flagships)
Then again casual consumers probably don't even know what are all these hardware for. Also it's sad to see the revolutionary Exmor T stacked sensor is still only for the main cam.
Subscribed. Nice review I have seen in a while. Keep uploading quality đ
I own the Xperia IV and I've had a Sony phone since the Z1. I've never complained about their update decisions and design choices. However, I have some major issues with the VI.
I love the 21:9 ratio, in my hands it fits comfortably and watching movies on it is a dream. The move away from 21:9 is a disappointment but it's something I can live with.
The move from 4k to 1080p however is absolutely disgraceful. For a phone that costs ÂŁ1299 and is a flagship for 2024, I expect at least a QHD display to be in line with what Samsung and Apple offer.
I have no idea what Sony were thinking. If Sony doesn't put a QHD display on the VII then I will have to consider going with another brand. A real shame.
Same here fam, been a fan since the Z3. Sony being the first company to implement a 4k screen on their flagship many years ago, than all of a sudden making the phone beefy and slapping on a 1080p screen in 2024 is disgraceful indeed. When we know Sony is capable of making It better. I would have been fine with 1440p, but 1080p? Hell naw, its even more disgraceful knowing their is no significant price drop to make up for it either, who they trying to fool.
Have tested multiple displays on phone I tend to see a bigger difference from 1080 to 1440p then 1440p to 4k
I find it interesting that so many are defending the downgrade to 1080p. Doesn't seem like they actually even own one.
â@@jonathanng138I remember testing the 2k display of a Samsung phone years ago against a 1080p display. The difference was definitely there and very noticeable. Not sure what so many others aren't seeing.
Sony phones were never running at 4K.
The lack of Notification LED is the only thing that keeps me from upgrading from the Pro-I
I miss that too
I recently updated an old Moto G1 that was forgotten on the drawer to android 10 and am using it randomly while my S20 is charging, and the notification LED drives me crazy. I hate to see that thing blinking. And it's a soft curve white suttle repetitive simple blink. It tells me nothing and it's so distracting (it might be because I'm autistic idk). I don't understand why people like that. I would disable that on my main device for sure. And I have the notification edge light option enabled all colorful on my Samsung and that doesn't bother me at all. It only pops up when the notification comes.
@@Jorge.ALXNDR you can turn the LED off in the notification setting.
ââ@@Jorge.ALXNDR people like that cuz they can know if they have notifications without having to turn on their screens?
If you're a type of person that constantly has 99 notifications pending, then it has little use to you, though
Lovely device, always adored Sony phones, wish to go back to using them, but there are some points of critique. Their prices are a bit high, they offer a lot but still, for devices with average software support terms, price is big. Which introduce a second critique point, sustainability, minimum 4 years software and OS support and 5 years security updates is a minimum standard. So the price could be justified not only for features it offers, but also long term use. Devices at this price point should be designed to last 5 years with official software and security support. Other than that, spectacular, Sony phones are so great!
Would love, love, love for Sony to bring back their Compact line. All the same features and specs but in a smaller size. But still, glad to see Sony doing great things with their phones. Headphone jacks and expandable memory! Yes!
Finally after long time SONY XPERIA review from you... Keep it up. I hope Sony sent you new device.
The fact that Big tech companies are bending over to create the Marques preferred device is absolutely wild... Really wish they hadn't done away with the 4K 21:9 aspect ratio.. And and deeply saddened that there's no longer being sold in the US market : (
Personally I think even QHD on a phone is overkill, FHD or FHD+ is the best. It's sad that the price still seems to be sky high
With the new extended continuous telephoto camera, new 5kmAh battery, vapour chamber, new high brightness and colour accurate display, the price isnât unjustified, also considering they donât expect to sell these phones a lot.
@@RootSystemHash The price seems to be 1300 british pounds which is just overkill. I can find a xiaomi 14 for half that price brand new

Nice review. Would love to know more about the audio quality.
With LG having left the mobile market thereâs not a lot of phone options for those wanting good wired audio unless you use a dongle dac (Apple iPhone is great for that approach with true but audio output though Google are following in android 14, maybe).
The moondrop phone is their first gen (has 4.4mm as well as 3.5mm audio out). And costs a lot more and no track record on updates.
I had a Sony 1iv. Absolutely loved it, but didn't see the point of a phone camera that didn't have an idiot mode. I have a 4/3rd Panasonic for taking more serious photography which has physical buttons to provide more intuitive control over speed, apertures etc. A phone camera is useful for more spontaneous photos and I don't want to be thinking about how to take a photo.
This time round, I couldn't justify the expense of the Sony and went for a Google 7pro, which was 35% cheaper.
But I really wanted the Sony and might find the money next time around to go back to the brand, especially with reviews like this.
bro, the telephoto camera sensor 1/3.5" is so so tiny that i argue its quality at night ... most phones uses 1/2" or 1/2.5"
Grrat review. Do you know if it has face unlock too? And csn it be enabled by double tapping the screen when off? Also a minor nitpick I had prevously is that you couldn't switch the back and history button on the navigation buttons, is that supported now?
No 2D face unlock. I think maybe see it as a security risk as 2D face scanning can easily be food by a good photo.
@@WhatGear alright :( Thanks!
It is a fantastic upgrade, and this phone is the best phone for 2024. Sony always designs high-quality products. The camera is definitely for professionals, for those who care about photography.đđŒ
Awesome review WhatGear. My only guess is that if Sony has made some questionable decisions here for the Xperia 1 VI like not having a 4K screen, lack of notification LED, dimension ratio change etc....
Perhaps they could be saving these legacy features for a Pro/Ultimate model later in the year like what they have done in the past. Because the Xperia 1 VI is not giving me that true flagship vibe so far đ unlike it's predecessors when launched.
Makes me love my 1 IV even more. Thus, from time to time, I will rewatch the 1 IV's launch film just to see how stacked it's features are compared to this 1 VI.
What I would like to see from Sony: 1. 48-50 MP 1 inch size camera( or make it around 1 inch), and make an option so people could take full resolution shots and 24 MP ones as we see on Iphones lately.
2. Use a 32 MP or 48 MP for the telephoto camera for more details.
3. Use a 16-20 MP UW camera instead of the 12 MP.
4. 40-50 Watts charging speed instead of the slow 30 W one.
Hey, what is the film clip you show, comparing the screens? I was only half watching the clip (was instead looking at the screen size..) but it suddenly jumped out at me that I'd seen that sequence being filmed a few years ago ... and yep, it's on London Wall, in the city (of London). Im watching from the edge of the rust coloured bridge.
great great review. you included so many important critical points đ thanks.
hope i can buy this here in India.
still waiting for Sony's ult wear headphones to launch here
Is the headphone output voltage higher than previously. Can it now power 250ohm cans?
I was going to buy S24U to replace my Sony 1 II. My main issues with 1II were: long focus distance (could not take a picture of small text, like on electronic components), aspect ratio that no one supports (got 1-2 issues with it daily), weak headphone output (i had Note 8 prior to Sony 1II and it was much louder), very weak flashlight, only 2y support. Looks like many of these things are now fixed.... hmm.
i really appreciated your review and laugh out loud to the clips you put in this video it's surely a good review and good vibe to me but wishing myself to buy a kind of phone like that. But i really appreciated your review thank you

@@WhatGear Alpha 7 MIV
HOLY SHIT! That human pose prediction technology is actually still fairly new to the Alpha camera lineup. It was around the time of Xperia 1IV. And they put that thing in Xperia 1VI? Thats insane!
Can it make use of the excellent burst capability, to do a series of snaps with slightly different focus points for focus bracketing? On some Sony cameras you can load a script that does this, and HDR bracketing series, for later combining in a desktop application like Lumina Neo.???
My iphone 14 pro got real hot today and when it only happens when using gps or facetime and ofc charging. I never understood how they dont have fans like they do in the pro model laptops that separate them from non pro models. Im glad to see Sony stepping up and showing how important it is to cool the phone down.
What's your thoughts on this vs pixel 8 pro vs the s24 ultra or iPhone 15 pro max? Hows the video stabilization? And how is the auto mode for point and shoot compared to the above 3? Not sure whether to get the 1 vi or one of the 3 mentioned

I won't mind a 1080p display but 19.5:9 hell no...21:9 was too unique and comfortable for me...19.5:9 is the worst possible ratio... Neither good for 16:9 content nor 21:9...I wished they kept 21:9 made it a 1080p or 1440p ltpo panel... that would have been so nice (that's what MKBHD said so too)....21:9 is best for scrolling apps and movies with awesome front stereo speaker
First time here, just gave you a sub... fellow Londoner... but also a huge MKBHD fan!
Can you comment a bit about the macro mode for the camera? Is there a macro mode?
I don't mind the resolution, I mostly consume FHD content on my phone anyways. My main issue is the price: it's just hard to justify it when we know we can get better specs at the same price. Looking at it at a vacuum though, it is an excellent phone. Expandable storage and the headphone jack are just extinct nowadays.
2:21 I was expecting an IPS display đ
Can you please comment on everything about the phone!
Ive had enough of people saying all these new features are gimmicks and the phone is trash
The phone is superior to most other phones for People who know how to use it.
Cameras first. They made the sensors everyone else os using and putting them on full showcase.
And that vapor chamber looks more intense than I've seen in some other in teardowns.
It's only "trash" if ones expecting them to be AppleSung.0, which they are not.
Big up for Sony for always putting the SD card and headphone jack while providing water & dust resistance on their flagship phones. I'll definitely buy the Mark VI after it comes down in price
The best Xperia ever! I will get this phone and using for 3 years soon. SONY MAKE IT BELIEVE! XPERIA MAKE IT POWER!
Yoo dude can you please tell, how the display compared, did they manage to make the screen, look like 4k even tho is not , or does the screen look like something from 2015? đ
When you compare both xperia 1 ii to xperia 1vi whats has better looking screen, not speaking tech but for the eye does it look same or the Xperia 1v is better?
Will there be a USA Version.
International Versions do not work well with AT&T and Verizon 4g & 5g
If you hold the shutter button down fully while the camera is of it will start up so there is no need for double tap to launch the cam on the power button

Now I just need my operator to put it in their portfolio. I loved Sony phones back then (had a Sony Ericsson, later the Sony S... But then they fell behind a little... Then they tried to focus too much on a specific group of users... But this seems to finally be the phone for me! I loved my Huawei phones... And this seems to be the closest I can get to that experience with any phone (having Google servicesđ)
Basically, they just realised a brand new expensive ultra cutting-edge flagship phone with the last year's (current) Android 14. The next one will be out in September, so 15, 16, and 17.
And, we're talking about the flagship realised just recently.
In the meantime,
Samsung Galaxy S21 series,
a phone from February 2021,
will still get the Android 15.
Samsung has four years of Android upgrades for its budget phones and seven years Android upgrades for its flagships.
And it's a game changer,
because their after-sale value will be significantly higher.
I would like to have the headphone jack and the memory card support,
but not with the lower support,
than the phones five times cheaper.
Marques didn't suggest they skip the US market altogether, though.
Not worth the effort because USians will buy iPhone anyway
Sony probably also had felt that 4k on 6.5" is overkill, it did sounded great as a marketing line a few years ago, but now that most people just settle for FHD phones, MKBHD just gave them that final push I feel.
đ seems like it...but it's a shame they couldn't get to that 800 dollar price point. Well, not yet.
It's just expensive. This screen is much cheaper because it's the same from Galaxy itself, you know, the mother company selling them the screens. Sadly, 4K on my 1 V is VERY visible and in a shocking way that made my older photos look like shit except the ones from my Sony A7SIII camera, while being eye-watering sharp and clean for higher res photos and videos like watching youtube in 4K.
I doubt MKBHD had anything to do with it.
Sony has been lying to everyone with their BS marketing tactics.
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
The last phones with ACTUAL 4K resolution displays are the Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZ2 Premium both of which have 16:9 4K displays.
â@@Bo_Hazem Yep, switched to Sony from my S21+ because 1080p looks like shit on a 6.7 inch phone. That's one of the big reasons I chose the Xperia.
Great video. Seems like sony has lot of improvements with this one. I wish sony one day would use the 'xperia Z3' design, loved that phone design.
Thats what i think i saw that when mkbhd said his suggestion about the auto in camera department
I've got the 1 V, had it for about 3 months now, man I wish I had waited đ still loving the phone, biggest let down is the case options đ„
Can't wait for mine to come the 6th of June đ„
Great stuff as always Troy. đ
I would hate to put this in a case! It's so pretty to me!
@whatgear can I ask about the glass lens it is made of gorilla glass?
Atleast they're listening to people who knows what the public wants
Still happy with my Xperia 10 III đ
The things is, this is probably the best phone for those who want Advanced professional photography and videography, but that's it, it's is not good enough relative to it's competitors on other aspects. And if u just want a camera , u can get better ones for this price .
Great honest review, man! Sonyâs certainly taking it the right way with this one. đ
Personal opinion: it'll be more professional if youâve reduced the amount of meme cut scenes for future content. đ
I know...but, people really seem to like them. They actually make me laugh whilst editing sometimes.
@@WhatGear haha they're definitely hilarious!!! Your content is dope and it's what matters the most. Keep up the good stuff bro! đȘđ»
@@user-xm1ox4vk5d thanks đ I appreciate it
I am now liking the design with bessel that use to be on the older phone. Looks sophisticated. đ
1600 $ 512gb plus 1,5 tb microSD = 2000$ for 3 years .....
Cool parts:
- coolest sim/card ejector in the world
- 3.5 mm jack
- card support
- front speakers
Guys this looks like a very good phone and reminds me of the samsung note 4 and samsung note 9 days. it is just a phone built correctly with good features. I am sold!!
Watching on my XZ Premium which after 7 years still gets me through a full day on a single charge. Sony are amazing for battery health but might be time for an upgrade for me đ
Same here but unfortunately you can already see that the battery is weakening and Android 9 is unfortunately very outdated and some apps no longer work. I think I will get the Sony Xperia 1 VI even if the price of 1400⏠is very expensive maybe I will pre-order the 300⏠headset "for free" because unfortunately the price hardly drops the Xperia 1 V still costs 1000⏠the headset could still be sold if I don't need it.
But it's nice that they've extended the Android support, could have been a bit more.
But that's also somehow a Sony problem they can do good things but somehow always screw it up even though it would be so easy e.g. longer Android support, the notification LED back in and maybe max 1440p display and then it would be almost perfect.
It's a bit like the Helldivers 2 situation GotY and you do the nonsense with the PSN account.
3.5mm is so underrated glad sony has it still !
Where's the link for the battery test?
Where can I get the official Sony Mount and cable to use my phone as a external monitor??
Wow. Wasn't that tempted by the previous ones but this looks like an absolute winner.
I would MUCH rather see swappable batteries, you can have some on charge while the unit is in use. My cameras, my power tools, my work lights all use swappable batteries... wouldn't want it any other way.
I've been looking at the camera specs on this one, looks very interesting. One of my main criteria on a phone.
Great review, sounds like Sony was paying attention. However, I'm still on the fence about its stability to record videos or take photos or game all day without overheating as with previous models
I pre-ordered it and Iâm much looking forward to it. And I personally prefer the new aspect ratio.
Itâs just a little sad that they didnât bring back the LED notification
4k is overkill, but for the most part the phone runs at Full HD+ so for everyday use there probably isnt the biggest change. Im mostly jealous of a variable refresh rate display and if course the new telephoto range.. but as a 1 V owner, i'll skip this generation with these minor (imo) upgrades.
I've owned every single version of the Xperia 1 series and seen an incremental improvement in successive models. I was extremely sceptical of the VI until I watched this ! I can now see that Sony has made some effort to improve sound quality which to be fair wasn't bad on the V but wasn't as good as it could have been bearing in mind Sony's hifi skills. So this video has tranformed me from a Xperia VI sceptic into a maybe purchaser.
This would be an instant buy for me if it were more like a 5.8 to 6 in display. I understand why people want gigantic screens but I really wish they were more options for smaller phones, even if it sacrifices battery capacity.
Love the SD card. Love the rounded corners, but rectangular screen. Don't mind the resolution downgrade but MKBHD said $600 to $800. I'll wait for the lucky number 7 or go with Red
In this economy? Lol
@@BlackEagle352 Red Magic 9 pro is going for $750. Same SoC.
@@Rhomagus you know these gadgets are more than just its SoC? Lol
@@BlackEagle352 Yes. The differences between them don't justify a nearly $400 price difference. Lol
When I choose a smartphone, I place the most importance on the camera. Therefore, a 4K display, which is disadvantageous in terms of brightness when shooting outdoors, was not necessarily necessary. I liked the 21:9 aspect ratio, which is easy to hold with one hand, but I understand that the cost performance of a custom display was not good. Another attractive feature is that the battery life has increased dramatically by changing from 4K to FHD+ this time. 1VI users will realize that the battery draining in an instant has been a major stressor until now. When the battery runs out, the smartphone becomes just a board. So is it a good idea to dangerously increase the charging speed? No. Increasing the charging speed will shorten the battery life. The best way is to reduce power consumption. Sony chose that direction this time. I agree with it. Are those who criticize the fact that the 4K display has become FHD+ choosing smartphones only based on the display resolution? I have serious doubts. Also, have those who lament the fact that it has become FHD+ really supported 4K Xperias until now? If so, the Xperia's share would have been much larger. But the reality is that 4K displays would not have expanded market share, and Sony simply had to deeply rethink what was really important in a smartphone in order to survive.
What about the notification LED light: is it still there, or have they removed it?
1400⏠for a smartphone is very hard to swallow especially when there is a new one every year and just get a few years of updates
i love the updates on the camera app! will definitely get this one for real. the only question now is where I can buy one since xperia phones are no longer available in my country đ
From online markets such as Amazon!
@@intelligentinvestor5423 i checked before for Xperia 1V but it's too expensive for me. I can't justify spending around 40% more than it's original price (probably because it will be imported from UK). thanks for the recommendation tho đ
I still remembers late 20' Sony smart phones
14:26 @WhatGear can you or anyone tell me what's that mini display please? Thanks in advance!
It comes with the VLOG camera grip...it's one of those very unmemorable names... I put the details on the screen in my camera test video.czcams.com/video/xaC9STcMS9Y/video.html

Do you know if this series supports sub mm 5g ?

Mortal Kombat in HD

No notch , no dynamic island †, just slick design an absolutely love it .
Even if 1 V had 4k screen it rendered everything in 1080p. They didn't even upscale it. 1080p allows them to make the screen brighter with ltpo. Also this phone is more like 5 v with that 1080p screen and should be priced accordingly.
